i'd say about 11c atm but not really tested, do you think it's worth getting some liquid metal stuff....?

With Liquid metal you have to insulate any exposed chips or copper pads on top of the CPU as its conductive. Off the top of my head I dnot remember whats on the top of those.

I have watched videos where they use liquid metal on just the dye under the ihs. seems pretty simple but I bet its not, is there any reason to seal the ihs back on..? right now I am just using the retention bracket on the motherboard, think the ihs might of moved slightly so when the new liquid metal comes I will try to keep it still when tightening bracket down.

It will be right none of mine have got the IHS glued on.

personally if you are gonna use it everyday I would glue it back on but if you are only gonna use it as a main rig for a few months then bench the shit outta it I wouldnt bother the only thing is with liquid metal if that IHS slips and that shit gets on the resistors on the chip its prob gonna fry Intel just dropped all the prices on CPUs the damn 6950x dropped $300 6900k dropped $200 so there is gonna be some crazy pricing soon for chips wccftech.com/intel-amd-price-war-ryzen-processors/

ok, so just changed from thermal paste too the liquid ultra and what a difference it made, still not sealed the ihs, not sure I will but now after p95 temps hit 56x max but goes back down to 48-49c that's a major difference

Im glad I didnt have to delidd my 5820k lol Im sure I will be delidding CPUs soon enough been doing VGAs so CPUs shouldnt be much harder

it is literally the most scariest but yet easiest thing I have ever done and defo worth it, running 5ghz now 1.325v but mobo pushes that up to 1.344v stable temps don't even hit 60c obviously not hours stable but for gaming it is, once I have played a bit more and adjusted mem and clocks i'll do a proper test with screen shots

I personally will buy the tool to delid since I will be doing more then 1 CPU once I get going hitting shit with a hammer and a piece of wood not my style I broke too much shit doing it without the right tools

There is no blade involved. It's a 2 piece sliding block that basically pushes the lid from the side until it pops off the glue.

The kids get fancy tools now to do what we did by hand and blade 10 years ago. lol

The kids get fancy tools now to do what we did by hand and blade 10 years ago. lol yeah i was thinkin the exact same thing scotty, ill stick with a sharp razor, i think the trick is dont rush, ive done a few and i got too impatient to get the lid off and ended up nicking the pcb or a resistor, slowly but surely for me now, BTW is a 6000+ windsor soldered or not, i know the brisbane isnt lol, reason i ask is ive noticed it seems to have degraded in speed and temps have risen a bit from prior with same volts, 3630 is tops now where b4 was 3670, same settings, , i thought the paste may have gone hard and a delid may help it

A small machine vice with a tight jaw it all you need to take them off works every time and quicker than those jig things. Shady your 5820K is probably soldered.

still can't believe them temps drops well worth it, 5ghz i'll stay nice and cool

so why is my score so low...? how many cores/threads do you have..? just wondering why mine is low. not that it really matters but just curious.

I just ordered 7600k for my wifes build from amazon will be here saturday now I just need a mobo and I can bench the heck outta it before I let her have it lmao but I been thinking about doing beginner videos and putting them on youtube to show a beginners journey in overclocking I happened to tell someone what I wanted to do and he helped me out to get everything I needed to do videos I got a new vid cam lighting stands the whole 9 and I used some of that to get her CPU so I can show some overclocking videos on a new platform gonna be fun
