really , check the volts out to get 5.2 gig ...that is not impressive to me !!!! that is on LN2 have you never seen a 6950x on LN2 it takes over 1.7v to get to 5.7ghz thats not bad for 1st go around if you ask me and amd has always been known to eat up the voltage hell you needed 2v to get to 8ghz with the last AMD CPU that was total junk

OZZ it's the scaling of that overclock. FX processors lost out even at 7-8ghz. The speed at the GHZ level meant nothing because the IPC was/is so horrible. So even that 8ghz from FX really isn't anything impressive other than saying that you've had a processor at X speed and that's that. The long Pipelines FX had enabled very high clocks but sacrificed actual computing power mostly in the floating point department. With RyZen's shorter pipelines and a considerable jump in transistor count not to mention even more cache, the computing power at 4ghz per core should be 40% better IPC in comparison to FX. Estimates have it around Haswell performance per core, and that is a Major jump in computing power. Don't let the lower Mhz fool you. It'll be like running a 6.5ghz FX chip daily but with a little more horse power

The best X5960 on bot CB15 is 2445 @ 6Ghz For 5.2 Ghz that is very impressive I must say. Dont worry about the voltage Shane People run FX8350 at 2v

yeah i get that, say you wanna do cpu freq for a sub, 5.2 on 1.95 v is it on ln2 , pretty sad mhz , i was talkin about cpu speed, im not goin on about computing power, time will tell with that, when i see actual real mainstream stuff then i might beleive, not some hand picked cpus just for the release bullshit, till then im on the bench, i dont care what they show in the live or pr vids crap, i wanna see real results , its all gunna be a silicone lottery for the mainstream guys, we know that much, the 1700 non x is the 1 to go for imo if youre gunna buy 1

When I buy one it will be the 1800X I aint buying the second rate model. I would like to know the complete specs for them all the processors from the hex core up have got 16Mb of L3 cache I would like to know what L1 and L2 cache's they have all got there has got to be a real reason why the 1800X is dearer.

I thought it was supposed to have 20MB L3 cache but it looks like the 1800x only has 16MB like others looks like clock speed is all that is diff with the 1700x and 1800x that doesnt constitute the $100 price gap IMO for an extra 200mhz esp when you can OC the shit there has to be something if not they will find the masses bitching

Based on what I've seen in person, that screenshot is about right.
You will not see 5 gig on air or water.
3600 ram speed will be about all also, and that is being generous.

That's a misleading article. Those prices are Microcenter's everyday price. There has been no decernable price drop on any Intel processor yet. As a matter of fact, I'm pretty sure I can prove the price actually went up on a couple SKU's.

Shady, they really should too. Florida is a huge state, they should have at least 3 stores in Florida alone. We have 2 here and they are always crowded with people.
That being said, I will NOT be touching anything Ryzen for a long time. My best piece of advice would be to not listen to all of the hoopla being generated and just wait it out til the boards and bios updates and testing has been done in real world. Wait for the smoke to clear. I'm not even looking at this new platform for another year or so.

I like the little heating pad that thing was cool as hell Im gonna start doing fun stuff with dry ice Vince (Kingpin) made a new heating plate that goes on the back of mobos to keep from getting ice and shit on the back the way it looks it looks like it might work with any CPU pot since its just a backplate and screw run through it

|
|
Post by Macsbeach98 on Mar 1, 2017 22:12:00 GMT -5
You wont need that with Dryice and its not to stop getting ice and shit on the back of the mobo its to keep the ram slots and VRM from freezing up. Mosfets and Solid caps dont like being frozen too much. My P5Q3 Deluxe Wifi suffers from frozen cap syndrome it starts off great but after an hour or so it becomes unstable and I loose a couple of hundred Mhz from what it can do at the beginning.
Although to be honest I am thinking of buying one it would stop getting water around the memory slots and GPU slot in long sessions when I have got them below -120c
But I wouldnt use it with Dryice you will be lucky to hold -60 under load you dont need a heater under the board sucking the cold away.
