I ordered another 2700X on Newegg. $159.99 and I could not resist it. I don't need the new 3000 series. The 2700x is a beast and that's what I paid for a Ryzen 5 1600 not too long ago. I will put it into the Asus Prime X370 Pro. This will be more fun for me. we don't get the deals in Canada like you guys do in the US. So.... $25 mail in rebate isn't all that enticing. I didn't even go out or browse the web for anything
Vin
EDIT: just had an actual look.. 2700x is $205CAD... I've read the 3800x on my board (Asus C6H) clocks up like a MotherF** and the RAM opens up as well... but it's this in the $450 range... still too rich for me...
Yeah, you've got a good board. That sucker would fly on their. I totally understand on that pricing. It's insane what you guys have to pay. Here on Amazon the 3800X is $329.99 with free shipping. I can't afford that right now...………..and I just don't need it. The 2700X is much more than I will ever need. The only thing I really want now...……….is a new case. Edit: I might walk in to my neighborhood Microcenter and pick one up in a couple weeks.

ShrimpBrime: I Put the other 1070 in again Jon like we talked about earlier. I just think it looks cool . I know SLI is basically dead now but until I can afford to get one really strong single card this will have to do. I wish I had a 1080Ti. Edit: The pictures aren't that good I know they are off of my phone, and it's dusty in there, I haven't had time to clean it out yet. But there is plenty of air for both cards. It's real cool in there. The top card is nice and cool with the fan curves set to aggressive in PX1.

Fuck man that's impressive. It's a monster build for sure!! nice score too!! I can't touch it lol. SLI is dead?? Well I guess you'll just have to play with some Physx stuff then. warp9-systems.proboards.com/post/36077DL all these files and put them into a fold call it NV Flex demo or something.... Open Bin folder, Open Win64 folder. Double click NvFlexDemoReleaseD3D_x64 to start the interactive Demo. \ Use NV control panel to select which card you want the physx to run on. You'll like it, I promise. Files are safe. I DLed them from NV and double checked with malwarebytes just to be sure. / Love the rig Eddie. It's perfect.

Here is with my 1080Ti Eddie. granted, I haven't rebooted in over 6 days, I just installed Time Spy, Paused the folding, tested and re-started the folding.. lol
Give you an idea.. I don't have an OC on my GPU and I don't really have an OC on my CPU, Ram I'm running at Rated except I need to bump the voltage to 1.4v to run at the rated timings...
Vin
EDIT I had a warning on the graphics driver, just an FYI

Re-booted
and yes SLI/XFire is dead for everything but these synthetic benchmarks... no game developers support or code for it anymore, so you're just doing it for benchmarks.
The Hay-Day of SLI/XFire was in the GTX460 era where 2xGTX460 would spank a GTX480 at a few hundred buck cheaper... then in the GTX560's era it started to get nurfed... up until then you could get the largest GPU at the time... enjoy and as games evolved the next generation GPU would come out and you would then buy a second used for cheap... SLI/XFIRE and then you had the same or better performance with that older generation as the new generation... isn't it funny that the GTX1060 doesn't have any SLI connectors?
AMD hasn't needed the bridge for many generations now, but nVidia keeps evolving it...

It's a shame about SLI in games now. I do run Shadow Of The Tomb Raider and it does scale okay in it. In Ultra settings I see above 155FPS. I run a Acer Predator Z301C monitor OC'd to 200Hz. I learned that in my particular case gsync and vsync just cause a lot of hitching stutter and lag. I keep them off in-game and in the NVCP. The FPS flies with no tearing or ill effects. When I do buy a game I do look for games that do use SLI. Older games mostly. I know there are a couple of newer games here and there that do too. I have to look them up and just buy them. I am enjoying the heck out of this rig. Puts a smile on my face every time I sit down in front of it.

Hey, Do you guys have SenseMi offset and SenseMi skew settings in your bios's? Sorry Jon, I just saw this. Yes, my Crosshair VII Hero has this in the Tweakers Paradise section of the bios. This board has absolutely every option/setting available as far as I know. It had better for what they charge for it. LOL I'm not sure but I think the Asus Prime X370 Pro might have it as well, but don't quote me on that. I went thru a lot of different bios's on that one. I'm pretty it sure had it but I don't know if it has it right now. I'm running an unlocked bios on it.

That makes sense. I don't have an Overclock on my GPU and CPU just holds the 3.7Ghz, for timespy it never passed 42 degrees and my CPU 48 degrees. So I have a lot of room to OC. but I don't think I need it. Division 2 on Ultra at 1440p I average 80fps. I'm happy with that. I do have a shutter so I'll try without GSYNC. I'm running an Asus PG278QR at 165HZ. Go I'll see what it does and let you know.
thanks for the run without SLI, I feel a little better about myself.. lol

Sorry for the later reply, had to get some sleep.
Didnt know games had to be Sli ready, figured this was more on the hardware level. Goes to show how long its been since Ive run SLI on a gamer rig. Ill have to take the time and look closer at that stuff.
SenseMi offset. Default is 272. Off my head I run it up to 290. It seems to give higher clocks all around. Just wondering if you fellas have played around with it and what your results looked like.

Sorry for the later reply, had to get some sleep. Didnt know games had to be Sli ready, Ya, some games forcing SLI actually hurts performance. Sucks but true. up until my 1080Ti, I've always SLI'd or ran with the plan I noted above...

They knew if they put SLI connectors on a GTX 1060 they would be losing a lot of money on higher end cards. The price and performance of two GTX 1060s in SLI would butt fuck em. LOL They could in theory be as strong as a single 1080. Edit: There is a software out there that "might" be able to make two gtx 1060's work in software SLI. It's called Different SLI Auto.

So NV Link is RTX cards only? I thought I read this didn't need software coding for games.... I could be wrong, don't quote that....

Edit: There is a software out there that "might" be able to make two gtx 1060's work in software SLI. It's called Different SLI Auto. Yep and it uses the same tech as AMD cards. it seems like a crap chute to get it to work from what I've seen, but for benching it scales like SLI would normally.
Jon,
if a game you play is on there, then it's worth it. but for me none of the games I play are supported.

Nice thanks Vin. I do have a few of those games actually. Looks like all AAA titles there too. I've got the Call of Duties Haven't run SLI in quite a long time (recently, but only for benching) in the terms of daily rig. Currently my daily driver only has a single PCI-E slot, and that's ok. I am not as intense gaming as once was. Remember my first SLI very well though. Two 7600 Gt's in SLI. And that was powered by an FX-55! It was such a killer gaming rig for it's time lol.

I got the EVGA RTX 2060 Super SC Black Edition today. Took out the 1070 SLI setup and am trying this out. It's definitely faster than a single GTX 1070. I'm tuning it in.

Fans are a bit loud, I have them set to go 100% at 50*C. But I use headphones while gaming so it doesn't matter. This is a very plain card. No lights, RGB, no dual bios, no back plate. Just a black card.

I still like my GTX 1070's in SLI better. They are much, much more powerful.
Edit: I can see why they are trying to get rid of SLI configs. They are much more powerful. Even an RTX 2080 Super would have a tough time with my cards.

Can't blame you, I'm just gonna sit on what I've got for awhile.
The little 1200 is doing great here and meets my needs which aren't that demanding. It's too bad the little 220GE I bought new awhile back kinda ticked me off about messing up USB that was working in Win 7. I can redo that later if I want but was really annoying and I just placed it back in the box and that's where it is now. If I ever have no further need for Windows then I'll get it out again, I normally don't use Windows anyway and if so I'd need to build a Windows only setup so I don't have to worry about that anymore.
Only real reason I'd need it is for the few games (Older games) I've got and that's about it, all else Linux can handle with ease.
