So what's the best chipset + brand of board for this? 790i Ultra sli or a P45, know you all like those P45 is the best with Core2 Quad 45nm as in Q9000 series Gigabyte tends to clock better than Asus.

Oh yes my captain ... well & truly epic proportions. Lately I've scored some old AT cases, the better ones with turbo displays. Then quite a few 586 486 386 286 machines.

Oh he is a collector and hoarder Scotty I remember when I first ran into him on OCAU a few years ago he was going on a trip around half the country collecting stuff from people box trailer in tow and all. Plus he is always in the for sale section on there looking for bargains Jr if you havent got a Gigabyte board an Asus will do.

Warp9 Team Only?
If I can dig out a 775 board and make it boot I would like to play, even if just dual core.

My kind of shopper... 2 thumbs up hey Pete its not called hoarding, its called connoisseur savior of all things computer related Macs go to warehouse here in AU Every month I'd do 30KG out of other countries with expensive DHL shipping. Just too tiny a market here wait/ hoping parts to appear. That'd be pounce early before scarcity of part & prices doubling. You guys see that a lot on the good stuff. My friend laughed because a caused a world wide shortage on tier 1 Super Sevens overnight. I did hit auctions hard & all @ once. ________ The bigger picture though ... saving these parts ... 20 years of computers theme museum.

I believe it was an 'in house' comp, not just a team comp. That means anybody who is a member here can play. If it were team only, it would be in one of the team only sections.

Probrably would be my REX and the Xeon L3360 used for this one. Could go for my Q9550 if I want, it's a decent chip. If my Dark will run it decently I can throw in a set of the RAM sticks I got to see how they do.
If running an AMD clearly it's gonna be the 960T.

I might of scored the HW required for this... Patriot DDR2-1150-2GB and a Gigabyte EP45-UD3L.... might come with a box of CPU's... if I can swing it I'll have a 12hr drive (Return) to go collect it on the weekend.

Tried a setup this morning and had a similar situation Mr. Scott had with his DFI - Popped my L3360 into my Dark board and for some reason a pair of MOSFETs started getting HOT and stinking right when I hit the power button. Hit the strip to kill it all so the board and chip are fine, just need to replace the MOSFETs that got too hot. They didn't pop or anything and I probrably could even toss a single core in now to run but not trusting it to keep going the way it is. Will repair, reload and go again but this time for a quad I'll have to run something else. Getting ready to fix it after I log out here. These are MOSFETs commonly used by DFI for that era, namely D472's.

I am never any good with wPrime but I gave it a shot, I have to be missing a big tweak somewhere. Running chilled coolant. DR4G00N \ PII X3 720 BE (Unlocked to X4) \ Crucial Ballistix D9GKX \ 790FXB-M2RS \ 296.619 sec.
