Looks like the DFI could be toast after all when the burned MOSFETs fused to the pads underneath when they got hot. The pieces did come out and the pads came with them so..... Either it's toast or I'll tinker with it later, rob it for parts... Who knows?
I did however just pickup a Gigabyte board to rob parts from for fixing the UD3R and if it has the correct stuff I believe that board will be OK in the end. If not I've less than $8 in it shipped so worth the risk since I haven't seen any matching boards or parts with the correct numbers anywhere.
In any instance, believe I'll play as soon as I'm able....

Guess I'll breakout the 960T and see how it does shortly. Or maybe the REX with a quad...... I just hope the bad luck is over with here.

But it's the only one I can use atm, my P5Q-E really hates 5400 series Xeon's for some reason. And I don't think I'll get very far with an E5420 in my D5400XS.

hmmm might have to break out REX or EP45T-UD3R might be fun need to grab a new water pump as mine is now being used in my main rigs custom loop and my AIO doesnt fit 775 mobos I can get a 300-GPH pump for $30 at lowes so no problems finding a cheap pump just need to setup OS

Was one of the only ones on the market that's reasonably priced 240mm AIO/CLC's (doubly so since I got it for like $108 CAD instead of the $145 CAD list) that still had an LGA 775 mount. Terrible name, annoying blue LED you can't turn off, but beyond that I like it ^_^ (CoolerMaster MasterLiquid Pro 240)

Do tell, do they work decently at least? I mean it beats the snot out of air cooling right? It handled a 3770k at 5GHz, so.... Yeah, I'd say it's okay. Can't remember temperatures at the moment though. Stock fans were trash (and one rattled) though, I wound up swapping them out and putting some spare Cougars onto it. I'd personally prefer a MO-RA3 with an EK EVO block (I'd greatly prefer a Watercool Heatkiller, but they don't support LGA 775 anymore), but I don't have $500+ to put into a watercooling setup for benching, hence why the AIO/CLC setup. Does the job No idea how it is for LGA 775, but odds are I just might fire up either my P5E or my EP45T-Extreme today and make use of that gorgeously cool weather we have today. That and I'm sick of banging my head against a wall trying for six achievements in Civ VI....

Take a break from the game and clear your mind with some runs done. Works for me. I wouldn't doubt it! ... Doubly so when working on huge island plates achievements, takes forever to do anything. But I'm down to just two enemy factions! As for air cooler vs aio, I think the biggest reason I saw benefits was my old air cooler is a Thermaltake Frio Advanced, and the stock fans had died so I jury rugged fan holders with threads rod, and it took forever (ten minutes) to swap a cpu. It also wasn't the best of coolers...

Well through the years, I've seen mixed reviews from the public about AIO coolers.
Here's my take on it.
Factory stock, most run of the mill (no names) AIO coolers are Blah. Or they do the job.
Modified With upgraded fans and even additional radiators added on the coolers do well enough to never go back to air cooling for example.
I purchased one many years ago, but it was more a full loop configuration. Was ThermalTake Big Water SE. I used the block from it and built a dice pot from it. It had ample enough copper to do the trick. Kits like that where basically an all in one deal, you just assembled it to your liking. This is where I took off to full loop systems, while upgrading radiators and pumps. Running 6 or more feet and getting a better pump later down the road and running chiller mods.
The water block I still never purchased was the HeatKiller. I so want one. I just can't cough the money up for one. Saw it mentioned and I've been looking at them....

I also did it because it was $50ish CAD cheaper than getting my paws on the Cryorg R1 Ultimate, so I figured that was a good way of looking at it ^_^;;;; But yeah, most AIO coolers out there are just Asetek rebrands, which have terrible radiators made out of aluminum. The ones CoolerMaster makes have a much better water block (but still nowhere near as good as a proper one), with a larger area that the water runs across for the contact plate. Only thing I just can't stand is that darn blue LED, which is blindingly bright but also an annoying shade (light sensitivity + blue LEDs is a possible problem)... Thankfully it's slightly diffused. I still want a proper water cooling system for the benching rig, but if I'm dropping the cash on a proper setup I'll also be getting a bunch of 80-20 and several yards of carbon fiber cloth aaaand somewhere to cure all that resin that isn't my living room..... And building an epic almost 1:1 scale Gear for a computer case (at least thigh up anyways). Haven't decided on North vs South vs PRDF, but eh. Oh. Right. This is an actual comp thread. Worked on getting the Extreme on my bench, that counts right? .. It'll be fired up hopefully tomorrow ^_^

I have been a fan of "run what you brung" for a long time, so its time to practice what I preach. I spent the last few days digging through all my hardware trying to find at least one 775 quad from a mountain of chips. The only thing I could find was a Xeon X5460 771, but I dont have any working P45 boards. All i have at the moment is X38/48 and that particular 771 chip will not boot with Intel X series chipset. Its unlikely I will find a P45 board, or 775 quad, but I am mildly looking. I still want to play so I will sub E8400 just for fun. mllrkllr88 / E8400 /Hyper DDR3 / 500.046 seconds
