60 days (or more?) Single and dual sockets.
Benchmarks to consider. Will conjure up a point system for multiple benchmarks and sockets.
Cbr 15 Geek3 (single/Multi core) H265 4k SPI32m Gpupi 3.2 1b. PiFast
2 cooling categories.
Above freezing Below freezing Rig screen shot will be required.
2 socket categories
single socket - 1 chip on dual socket board ok. Second chip must be removed. dual socket - obviously, both chips installed and benching. Rig screen shots will be required.
_______________________________________________________________ PRIZES (funded by Warp9 team members - Not sponsored)
Quote GeorgeK I am offering to the pot a set of triple channel Kingston mems 2000/9 9 9 24 1T.
My very small offer stands under two conditions :
1) Only for above zero category ( most of our Team members will bench on water ). 2) If at least ten individuals participate.
I will bench for FUN ONLY. Subzero or not, obviously I will not be a candidate for this or any other prize. Only fun.

I'm thinking
GeekBench3 ________________________Ambient __________________________ Sub Zero_______________________________
1st = 10pts 2nd = 8pts 3rd = 6pts
H265 4K
1st = 10pts 2nd = 8pts 3rd = 6pts
SuperPi 32m
1st = 10pts 2nd = 8pts 3rd = 6pts
PiFast
1st = 10pts 2nd = 8pts 3rd = 6pts
Good?
Point system:
Max 10 pts per 1st place. Increments of 2, second place = 8pts and so forth.
Cooling categories split with the above point system. Meaning winners for sub zero and Ambient.
Rule on cooling: Subzero is subzero. If your chilling and reaching sub-zero, that's where the submissions go. If you are chilling but can prove above freezing, then you may submit for ambient.
CANNOT use the same hardware for BOTH cooling stages. Must be a different Cpu and mainboard.
If the cooling rules don't please, I'll remove them, run what you got then, no limitations.
Thoughts please!

I'm gonna bench for learning the platform and fun. I have no intentions of winning anything myself.
That said.... Open to the public for sure.

I only have two more days to try and put up a faster S939 wPrime score but yesterday I started looking at X58 setups. Unfortunately, it looks like my R3E which had a few bent LGA pins is now failing to post to BIOS. It was working the last time I used the motherboard, but it seems that one of the bent pins has now partially broken off from changing out the CPU and mounting a cooler. It's a bummer too as I had carefully examined the damaged pins area with a jeweler's loupe and checked the alignment in relation to the CPU pads and I thought it was looking pretty good. I do have some other (backup) X58 motherboards that I can use, and I've now got my old EVGA Classified up and running. It seems that on this motherboard with QPI fast mode enabled I'm hitting a wall at ~4000MHz QPI were the board fails to post to BIOS. When setting the QPI to 18x multi it tops out at around 221/222 Bclk. With the QPI 22x multi it hits the wall at ~182 Bclk while the QPI 24x multi stops posting at ~167 Bclk.

But I had thought the 4000mhz QPI would be a top out frequency? (I'm probably not correct....)

I do hope there will be good participation with this and looking foward to seeing what you guys can do. No one need worry about me, as indicated I've nothing X58 here and no plans to get anything of the sort, got enough to deal with already.

Might join this one. X58 is Madness. have got some Serious X58 Kit in this year, 3x R3E (Including one that was caught on fire but was repaired, Water damage on VDIMM Circuit due to Exploded AIO according to seller) , Giga X58A-OC which was Never OC and previos owner told me it was a shit board because there is no USB and Audio is crap. Oh and R3BE Proably my best X58 Board. might be a good chance to properly test my PSC , BBSE , Hyper kits. didnt spend much time on them. just max clocks at 2000 with 1.6-1-7v Would like to learn and put some time into binnging chips for Max Bclock , As i usualy toss anything that cant do 220 on R3E Cooling will still be on Air with Noctua D14, Im looking into getting a custom loop or chiller. want to make sure im doing chilled and water stuff right before i put any of my good boards on it.

Seems it will be fun.
Rex III and REX III black edition here. Pristine both.
My 990x does 5.5ghz on dice multi and 5.8ghz single.
If I manage to freeze the Northbridge with a very small pot I have, I will be exploiting uncharted waters ( for me ). My doms do 7-8-7-21-1T at 1900 with 1.80v, but under cold I will push 1.90v and hope for 7-8-7-20-1t tight ( tcwl 6 ) at 2000.

That's sounds about right. You're not far off any mark. You're a good bencher, you'll be right in it.

I have a few x58 boards. baby business and work aside, if I can make time I'll try... working on a home server build, that's been taking all of my current free time. Mr.Scott don't you have the SR-2 that could do the 2 CPU?
@shrimpy, 4,000mhz QPI isn't the top, you just need either a good CPU and better cooling/volts to get past it.
ground, I think you'd like this comp?

Put my name down for this I will even get nitrogen for it. I have got a 980x, W3690, X5680, P6X58DE, REXII, REXIII, Hypers and PSC. I am not worried about QPC raw Mhz here.

X58 on the bench. 2 boards no post. Try the gigabyte with a 930, posts up. OK, great. Not the board or cpu I wanted to use. Need to try the 930 in the Rampage II to see if it posts up that way.... Have Dominators and Viper Extreme Kits. Both work dandy to post the 920/930....
Is it a "thing" that higher end chips just don't like to post in these boards?

I hope to meet his expectations during this competition. Going to start here. Finally got the Rampage to respond. Second restart, figured I'd check out the forum real quick. Everything seems to work at stock 1 stick of ram so far lol. And been at posting a board for solid use 2 days now, at least 6 hours deep yesterday, 3 today. I almost gave up. Real close.

Just a thought but I always find it interesting to see what type of memory kit (brand/part#/IC-type etc.) that a bencher is submitting with? Maybe we could show a CPUZ SPD shot with the submissions?
Edit: I suppose it wouldn't be necessary for every submission?? Or we could just list the type of memory kit being used with our submissions?

How about, submissions in this fashion... ? User Name | Cpu and freq | Memory make, model and Freq | mainboard in use | benchmark and score/time EDIT: Also working on screen background image as well.

Here is the winner gents. By far. I was hoping Peter would jump in this Don't count yourself out pal. You are one of my mentors. Thank you brother ! Extremely kind words. Facts are facts though. Peter is a legend in my mind. Not only as a bencher but as an all round laboratory engineer. His knowledge extends far and beyond most and his character is an example to follow. I will do my best though and hope we all have fun.
