Well what ever it is, 1070? 1080? ... it's twice as fast as my GTX 770. Frank is going steady too. Nice job fellas

Took a little longer than I thought to get started, 2950X & 2 x RX 590s, doing a little burn in at all stock.

Been running my Rad VII for folding and it does a good job.
I can't do it all the time but every now and then I get a WU done.

Lot better than the 590 looking at your WU count. Not going much longer at full converting to background soon. Did pick up a Mining setup (MB & 8 PCIe to USB ports) not for mining but to test for GPUPI might give that a go with a mixed group of VGAs

Jealous as hell over here....
So I bought a Tesla card. Kiss my ass.

LOL!!
The really old one. K20. Basically it's a GTX 780 at lower clocks.
2496 Cuda cores vs my GTX 770 with 1536 Cudaz. Has 5GB of memory and is passively cooled which means the entire PCB is covered in one big long badass heat sink lol.

Vin Have no idea how it will work with GPUPI beyond what the GPUPI page implies. Pic of the board (S1155) and one of the PCIe to USB adapters with the contents from the adapter package. Whole setup was about $80 US as I remember. You can see the 7 extra USB ports on the left side of the board. Shrimpy Perked my interest got one coming.

That' a neat setup Ales... Since it can Mine, I wonder if it'll fold? I have 2 GPU's in my system, but 1 slot is not accessible to add a 3rd GPU (1080Ti is a 2.5 slot card).. I wonder if one of those USB/PCIE adapters would work?

Slap a fan on it and it'll probably fold/mine at room temps. Did you get the K20 or the K40?

Is it truly passively cooled, or was it designed for use with air being forced through it in a server chassis? I'm curious, because I could have sworn that was an option on the Tesla cards a while back.

Advertised as passive, but probably designed for server air flow. Now to really sure about that.

Shrimpy, sorry to hear about the DOA
Went looking for something concerning the PCIe/USB adapter and found this, video is a little drawn out to find out a pretty good hit gaming.
I'm going down tomorrow at 6:00 PM my time, going to be a little while before I'm at again. Trying to put something dedicated together that I can turn on a forget about.

Ya, I wouldn't think of using a USB riser for gaming, I was thinking for folding... cause if it mines, I'd think it would fold...

K40 is up to $650... wow that was quick...
ya, hope they don't send the same one back...
Question... could you also maybe offload Physx to this card in a regular PC to help the main GPU? I wonder what benefit that would offer...
and you guys are lucky... in canada we don't have any refurbs... new only starting at $1500+CAD for a K20 and $1850CAD for a K40

Wondering if Tesla function is like SLI on Quadro's if the board isn't Nvidia certified it don't work.
I'm hooked on folding so went through the boards on hand and nothing 4-way I want to take out of the benching aspect, Team Cup coming up, so going to be awhile before anything 24/7 happens.
Have a setup on the bench with a GTX 960 installed and have another 960 so will try the PCIe-USB adapter on it and compare as long as it shows up from a USB port.

It locks my board up to a no post and no error situation. My k20 looked as if dropped or taken apart at some point. Where 2 screws are on the cover is splitting and cracked where the screws go in.
I did some reading, the boards should post but may give a black screen.
@vin, yes the tesla card should work fine for physx..all you need is the cuda driver installed.

Took me awhile to get it through my thick skull that the mention of USB only applies to the cable and connectors on the adapters and not to a standard USB port!
Vin, from the link I posted three back. Linux is 20% faster than Windows, a x1 riser is 20% slower in Linux and 50% slower in Windows. Probably already aware just putting it up.

If I remember correctly, you'll want at least a 4x lane for best PPD, although an 8x lane does a lot better.

i gotta drop off for now from folding because my power bill went out the roof. power's getting more expensive here because they have to finance social programs... taking money from your left pocket and putting it back into your right one. i'll be back if i get a more efficient rig. i was using my 7950 and fx8320

Fortunately I dont have to worry about any electric bill since I'm able to run my set(s) up 24/7 at work . Just gotta figure out and put together a decent couple of rigs based on my hardware on hand, not buying new parts when I have literally tons of parts.

I say that because while you can use the CPU for folding it just isn't worth it from a power consumed VS results obtained, it's best to do GPU alone folding.
A newer GPU like a GTX 970 or newer would be miles better than the 7950 you're currently using if you can find one for a reasonable price.
Just make sure whatever board is part of the setup will let the card do well.
