Probably already aware just putting it up. I was not. just thinking of a way to add cards to an already full system. Thank you

Droch_Leanna, THANKS!
Had a X79 setup with 2 VGAs running on the chiller (CPU) room can't take the heat dump over extended periods. Even taking the CPU out of action and setting liquid temp to 45c unit was still putting out more heat than the CPU was producing. Xeon 2680 v2 10 core stock freq 70K +/- PPD. Basically the same thing on the daily (smaller room) although taking the CPU off line no problem with the VGAs. Going to go with Bones' suggestion lines good two way on a Z platform and forget about folding the CPU. Have an extra Asrock Z170 OC Formula does 4 way @ 4X might be OK on Linux.
Going to switch the X79 over to water move the 1080 to primary so I can test the K20, not that far from a 100M.

ya, GPU is doing all the work. go with a dual core and all the VGA's the MB will handle.

Going to be awhile for me. Have some water cooler maintenance to do, been a year since it's been on maybe more.

I'm pulling a few WU's. too many items going on in RL, I haven't gotten to my Linux OS yet, nor I have gotten the $ to restore my Main Rig's water cooling bits.... but there is light over the horizon, I'm getting a hefty tax return. Instead of using a portion of the funds to blatant alcohol, I'll use it for a new RAD and the bits I need... The rest needs to be saved for replacing my 2003 Toyota Matrix with near 400,000km on it... That's 248,548 miles for you yanks.... had her since new, I really need to start saving and looking for her replacement... in other news..... We're on the verge of passing 100,000,000 points.....

Wow 400k km on a Matrix, that's pretty epic.

Wow 400k km on a Matrix, that's pretty epic. Yep, best car I've ever owned... up until last year I'd only spent $1750 on repairs (excluding normal maintenance.ie; Brakes, Fluid Changes, tires)
in the last year I've done the cooling Rad, both front shocks, exhaust front to back, drivers side CV axle. Engine doesn't burn oil and still pulls strong. but its the body and everything around her that isn't worth repairing on a car her age. and a car like her is hard to replace. Even the 2008's (same gen) have the same issues so I can't just get a slightly newer one and keep going
too many changes for me this year so far, can't handle needing to think to replace her.

Nope - Not Lila.
My old Camry has close to that in miles, my pickup has more on it's clock yet still runs fine.

If they should ever decide to visit us here we'd need to express our thanks for certain. Doing a WU right now and that's it for the day.
Been getting some quickie WU's lately and I'm cool with that.

I'm folding again for a week or so. With everyone yesterday we pulled 3.9mil points.. most we've ever done collectively is 1 day.
it would be cool to have another 2 day folding party and see if we can get in the 6-8mil in a day. Do our own 1.4 mile folding run to see what we could do if we ALL stretched ourselves.
the most I can contribute is 1.4mil/ppd on a peak. my average is 1.1mil/ppd.

Should be going here pretty soon.
Secondary loop on the water cooler pumped the Res dry within minutes either a little rad rot or a split tube in an area I can't see, thought it a better choice runs real quiet. Primary has a block attached and doing a little leak testing now.
Added: Running 1080 Ti, 960 & the Xeon mentioned above about 2 hours to first results, the last just to see what kinda heat dump.
Forgot to mention 1080 & the K20 = black screen

User Droch Leanna sure seem to have some punch in the hardware btw
EDIT: Would be interesting to know what kind of gear(GPU&CPU) in comparison would be needed to push 2.5-2.6M a day?

Forgot to mention 1080 & the K20 = black screen Yea, see I was having the same issue. I've been trying to do some research on this issue, but haven't found any real good answers really. Haven't sent mine back because I was kinda waiting to see your results to be sure I have a bricked card. From your experience stated so far, I'm at 50% only sure the card is bad. Let me know if you come across anything or get your card working. I sure would like to fold with mine lol.

George, couple of 1080 Ti / Radeon VII & a 16 core or larger CPU would put you in the ball park or 3 RTX 2060s but harder to find boards that do 3 or 4 way with double width cards so might need more than one board.
Shrimpy, same here don't think the card is dead going to do some testing once I shut down on this session of folding.

I see. If Leanna is using a single unit, consumer such, then just the GPUs and CPU would go for 2000-3000€.

I've been toying with it for a few month.. just no $ to pull the trigger.

EDIT: yours and my hardware will be neck in neck.. 1080Ti and r9-290x here...

I have a feeling we need a server board which I have none of anymore lol. If yours works or you get it working, I'd like to send mine out to you for testing if that's ok with you. I'll cover all the shipping expenses.

reason why I think that is because server boards rarely have an nVidia GPU for actual video output.

Did try with an APU or cpu with iGpu. No good luck. I gotta see what board my wife has. I think it has onboard ATI/AMD gpu. Worth a shot.
