Thanks Zila! I'd like to do some more vintage VGA benching with it. I have an 8800Ultra or 2 here, both on water blocks too. Just need a spare couple of hours time just to move and setup all the hardware. Doubt I'll make any real spectacular scores or anything, but would like to try benching 3D with Ryzen because it's all I got lol.

You know Jon one thing I have found after examining this stock cooler is that it has a very poor finish on it. It does not sit flat on the processor. It needs a good lapping badly. This cooler never should have left the factory like this. The finish is very dull and scratchy and rough.......uneven. Cooler Master should be ashamed to have let this product be released in this condition. When I have the time I'm gonna fix it. This should work nicely on my Ryzen 5 1600.

I can't see what you're talking about. Can you put a straight edge on it and take some pictures?

Any locked settings will kill the game. Just give some P states and let them free. Still can't believe but mine lost 10-15 degree @ 4.2 ghz. Runs near the temps when it was setted all core 4.0 @ 1.22v. Max is 4.2 @ 1.42 ! Can it be happen ? Performance is the same or even slightly better. This made the whole thing more unbeliveable. Did a lot of test and it was outperform 10-15-20 points in Cb R15 always, also in Geekbench. It has such superior energy saving methods that I've never seen. Good to see that not only me is amazed but some of You also. Maybe we can see a small part from the future.

I have various daily settings for the processor. LLC extreme - 16 threads 4.1Ghz 1.406v // 8 cores 4350Mhz 1.4750v // 4 cores 4450Mhz 1.5v All pass IBT
Right now been running 8 cores with 43.75x @ 1.472 LLC on auto. IBT stable.

I can't see what you're talking about. Can you put a straight edge on it and take some pictures? My camera stopped working but I can tell ya this is one cheap stock cooler. It is not properly finished in my honest opinion. I will lap it at some as I really have nothing to lose. It sucks as is. It's just pretty and that's all it's got to offer. No performance from it. I have some fine lapping compound for it. I just have to get in the mood to do it. No hurry as I have plenty of coolers around here that are much better than this is.
Let me link to someone who discovered pretty much the same thing I did..........except for the dent mine looks pretty much the same. Crappy.

Well yea it's cheap Eddie. It's free with the processor.
I don't know how it would do against other air coolers. This is the longest I've ever used air cooling. The past more than a decade, I've built custom water loops and stuff.
But I don't have any issues over here. It's not a great cooler, but for free or included with processor price, it does just fine at that price imo.
And I really don't think that ambient water cooling is going to make mine do impressive tricks here, just judging by the way this cpu acts vs everyone else's. While you guys can overclock AND under-volt, I have the opposite effect going on where I need to hammer in more voltage.
At some point it'll get the big torture just as any good AMD cpu I've had. Just in a matter of time, just not ready to put this one on the chopping block just yet.

They could have just polished the freaking thing. I'm a detailer............you know how I feel about polish. I wanna see myself in it. I'm a stickler for cool temps. Can't help it.

Now to change things up a bit.............this just arrived.
I'll have to find some time to install it. I won't do anything with it today as it just arrived and it's frozen. I don't know when exactly I'll have time to swap out boards but I'm not in a hurry.
It's kinda nippy out there today.

Nice board ! If it's not worse than Cr6 in anything only should be even better, You will be very happy with it, I guess ! No, I'm sure ! nActually working with the Cr6 is something that only the best boards can reach. Clear, strict, fast. No holes, issues, nothing, just post, boot, work. I'm really not waited anything like this in this new platform.

The Crosshair VII Hero reminds me very much of the Crosshair V Formula Z. I am in love with this board. Best purchase I've made in a very long time. Yeeeeehaaaa this thing is slick.

Okay I recorded a two hour run with OCCT on the 2700X Crosshair VII Hero Combo today. I'm using the Phanteks PH-TC14PE_BK cooler with it's stock fans. Now after recording these temps I am going to switch thermal paste and see if it makes any difference at all. I am currently using ShinEtsu X-23-7783D. I will replace that with Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut. It will take a day or two as I'm real busy with other things but that is the plan. It's about 22*c in here right now.

That chip is soo fast. Can't run mine on air anymore. I de-lidded it. And thus one of the big draw backs of de-lidding a soldered cpu.... shmeh.

As soon as I can free up some cash I'm gonna get another DDR4 kit for the Prime X370 Pro board and bring my Ryzen 5 1600 back online with the GTX 1060. Another nice rig.

I'm curious about those new chips. AMD is really kicking some ass. Good competition and some excellent chips. Whole lotta fun.

Well leaked 5Ghz boost clocks. Now THAT is where AMD needs the clock speeds. I have a feeling our 2700x processors are going to be slow in all around comparisons.

Okay, I changed out the ShinEtsu for the Kryonaut last night. I let the rig idle overnight with the new paste oh about 14 hours or so. Then I hit it with a couple of hours of OCCT. Everything is the same except for the Kryonaut. It was not worth it really but now I know the ShinEtsu is really good stuff. Account for margin of error, such as different application methods...........the ShinEtsu I use the line method on because it is very thick paste. The Kryonaut comes with it's own little applicator but I didn't like. I used the credit method with it and got a good even spread across the chip. 2.1 Degree difference.
Edit: I just love this new rig. I can't get enough of it.

Just swapped out CPU coolers and it made a small difference at least. Noted the Wraith had a dimple on one of the pipes, that was hurting things but this new cooler is perfect - At least better than what I was using.

Interested in numbers Bones!!
Just can't believe you guys are having these higher numbers with heat. I really hate to see what dead of summer brings to you guys......
