Me too. Expound on this please? Also adding a shameless plug. Watch for Scotty's Nvidia family history comp coming in April-May.

I don't think my only Intel 478 rig is up to the task on this comp. Limited core count. Does that include counting threads? Like the prizes, very nice.

Can't resist playfully saying "nuoooo, I have to learn how to use y-cruncher!!" Yeah, odds are I'll be in.

I am in I want that board. Although I would be in anyway for the fun of it. I don't think my only Intel 478 rig is up to the task on this comp. Limited core count. Does that include counting threads? Like the prizes, very nice. I would say Ryzen would be included as an enthusiast processor its sold as a desktop processor but over 8 cores would not but its not my comp we will have to see what Brad says. @ Scott I like the Nvidea vintage family comp too sounds good.

I guess Brad is suggesting by " enthusiast processor " up to 8 cores. NOT HEDT cpus. We will see

CPUs limited to enthusiast CPU core count
what does this mean ales ?? and the how low you can go, does that mean who can get the lowest cpu clock, or ram clock or overall low clock speeds ? bit confused here

I believe it's lowest score wins, or lowest time for combination of all benchmarks. pretty sure...
Enthusiast I'm thinking quad core? If he refers to Enthusiast from HWbot, that would be a cooling limitation.

Post by ozz on Jan 1, 2019 23:09:08 GMT -5
he says no cooling limit so it isnt that i think itd be useless to run a system on ln2, dice , ss, and waste it, for a lowest score, times on that stuff

HOW LOW CAN YOU GO = How fast can you be in each benchmark ( low in time ) ENTHUSIAST PROCESSOR =
a) Intel up to 8 cores = I9-9900K b) AMD up to 8 cores = Ryzen 2700X
Enthusiast processor by definition is a NON-HEDT processor.

Skylake-X and Threadripper's excluded. Also, I suppose Brad means older versions of Intel Extreme processors from 8 cores and above.
But that is only me guessing, lol. I hope Brad will enlighten us sooner than later

Sorry wording was not chosen correctly, enthusiast to me is desktop market, high or low end (like WS parts). Can use WS CPUs but limited to (single socket) Revised to multi socket desktop core count, Intel's flagship i9 is 18 cores, top Ryzen is 32. Example socket 2011 top i7 was 6 cores, top Xeon was 12 cores so 6 cores would be the limit for that socket.
Faster for the bench's chosen means a smaller or lower score so How Low Can You Go.

Can you use 2 different systems for the benches like SPI, Pifast 8700k and WP, GPUPI, ycrunch Ryzen? Cool Brad its a raffle just gotta put subs in to buy a ticket solves the problem of making a comp that everyone can enter and its a good membership drive.

LOL Pete. You already have an upper hand with that bad ass LN cooling. Now you want to have more edge using multiple processors? That's a game changer for a guy like me.... ehh...

Was just wonderin Jon it doesnt really matter either way.
I dont even know weather I am going to spend $120 for LN2 on it its a lottery if the rollup is big the chances of winning the prize wont be great even if you come first in the competition.
I am only interested in the motherboard anyway if I was to win the lottery Brad only has to send the board oh and maybe the QX9650 (it might be better than mine) the rest he can give to someone else.

well i may be well wrong here but why would you need LN2 for a go low go slow comp anyway if you need low mhz , lowest bus you can get, prob loose ram timings as well and low volts

Sorry Brad, but maybe I am kind of slow minded today, lol
Are we going for best score with clcoks as high as possible, or vice versa ?
And in this case why should anyone go cold, if the target is Wprime 60 minutes time ?

Its the fastest you can go in all the benches a lower time is better the faster the clocks tighter the timings and in three benches more cores will give you a lower time score its got nothing to do with the longest time you can run a bench its the fastest time to complete a bench.

So PiMod having a lower time 4 seconds is a lower amount of time to complete than 6 seconds. So LOWEST average time of 5 benchmarks wins. Pretty sure (99.8265%) that's what he means Shane.

Sorry, I was being a smart ass, my apologies. I'ma give this a go. I already know where my Cpu tops out at. It won't matter unless I spend 80$ on LN2 (22L dewar), so I'm in the same boat as you. Besides I'd like to delid mine after some good use and a backup chip just in case lol.

Pick up your best cpu/ram/mobo set, bench/tweak/optmize it the best you can, screenshot/save according to the rules, upload it to bot (optional?), post it here, done

Can use one setup or five different ones doesn't matter, figured two for sure.
ShrimpBrime's PiMod example is right one, higher clocks equal faster time equals lower number.
