Nope. Cleaning, paste, and pads. We'll see from there.

Clean it sure, but it doesn't run hot in my space with a 40-45f ambient temp. 65 core 75 hot spot. (This time of year). Precision X-16 is the only way to OV the card, I have installed the stock bios on it. Everything else seems fine. Could be drivers? Seems to bench newer 3DMarks OK, but vantage is choppy and it closes at random points during the benchmark. Have benched multiple other cards on the same OS without issue, see above submissions 1000points worth, AMD and NV cards. Either way, I'll get it out by this weekend. I'll be picking up another GPU for benching any ways, got some runs in with it, so I'm satisfied. I've never taken the card apart, I think someone else had done it once before. If you can find a water block for it Scotty, I think that would be the way to go. History: F@H with lowered power target, some gaming and a little benching. Usually the driver drops if it's pushed to hard. +21 core +34 mem is about the best stable its ever done. Do NOT use after burner for OC cause the card will drop mem frequency hard and OC will be redundant. And it weighs like 95 pounds too. It's a beast lol.

Dont bake it though that is usually instant death. I second this. Baking really only worked on cards from when they started to use rohs solder crap. and that was a cheap temp fix at that.

Well, looks like I now have a CHV-Z that's gone wonky. Seems fine until you freeze it, then it start throwing all kinds of weird crap at me like RAM timings of 2-16-2-blank shown in CPU-Z which cannot be right to start with. It also throws an "Out of range" error when adjusting the CPU-NB speed, wants to hang in the monitoring part of the BIOS.... Stuff like that.
Subzero takes it toll of course and this one is no exception, but it's not too bad considering I bought it early last year for $50 shipped since it was listed as "For parts or not working" when I got it, yet it did give me some nice runs before all this started. ATM I'm setting up the Sabo 3.0 in it's place and will consider it retired from benching like the Sabo 2.0 is now. Still have two more of these around to use if I want so it's not like I don't have anything else to use if I want.

Shit, I thought my Rampage II was Fkd yesterday. I was fortunate to have enough ddr3 ram around, cause thats what my issue was.
Can't sell it, was thinking about it. But it's sealed up for frosty temps. After reading your happy time, I may not go cold with it.... Don't want to be part of this thread.

2-16-2 is a CPUz 2.03 error I had the same on Crosshair V non Z try rolling it back to 1.96 that will give correct ram timings. CPUz 2.03 is a problem with older hardware with Maximus VIII Gene is just stops working altogether.

That's the version I was using to be sure I had the latest BUT if it's going to be problematic then I guess not to using it. I'll use what works.

Bent two pins in the socket on the Asrock Fatal1ty E3V5 Gaming/OC, CPU slipped when I was removing it, replacement no post. Pulled the board got it under some better light and magnification, tools I use for S775 looked like 2x4's compared to the pins, found a sewing pin looked a little better but still not fine enough. First one I killed due to my own stupidity, (why I'm not using the chiller), took me about a year to find the replacement, which came from Germany at over twice the cost of the first.
Have contacted the socket replacement folks, though got a few more hours before anything would be open for business here, on the other end of the state from me, so should be a pretty quick turnaround if all goes well and less than I paid for the first board.
Have more than a few E3 V5/6's in the mail.

Gonna swap the 12600K back into a new board at the end of the month and I can totally see this happenening to me as well.

Killed my MI25/WX 9100 by repasting it one too many times and damaged the interposer or something. Could get another and still cost less than a single Vega 64 since they're so cheap, though I won't try sticking a waterblock back on if I do.

Shit, glad everyone is safe at least. If you don't mind my asking, what PSU/cable was it?? They often show a brand at the wall end. And, you need a new PSU? I got spares.

Fuck I dunno. Shut it down. Laying in bed watching videos. Antec CP series 850w. Was pulling on the wall with 2x R9 390's Xfired with a 13700K. The PSU and benchmark where running and I pulled the cord out of the psu. This disconnected the plug and got some fireworks. I'm surprised the breaker didn't trip on the surge protector long before. Time to junk that now I think. The gear should be fine. PSU is a tank. I've been running it many years. The 1kw same model drops the 12v rail to 11.6v so I junked it. This 850w seems to hold its own still. That was 3DMark 11 performance. Don't anyone tell you it's a light weight benchmark. That's BS.

Update with a pic. All gear is ok, nothing broken. See where the cord is severed? I was holding it pulling it out the PSU. Could have died!!

I wonder if the power cable had a really good kink that broke some of the strands and caused an overheat. it's a thing. Hard to ever tell

I wonder if the power cable had a really good kink that broke some of the strands and caused an overheat. it's a thing. Hard to ever tell Vin The PSU OVP didn't kick in... power cord was hanging pretty strait down to the outlet, but it was bent like you see it, not really kinked. Found another cord that looks heavier, same 10 amp rating. Doesn't seem to get hot though. I'm thinking one of the prongs had bad contact in the surge protector. No harm no foul. Just glad I was sitting there. I rarely leave the equipment plugged in and running. I've learned this lesson before but with 160w peltier cooling.

You'd been dead. I don't do high voltage. Not deathly scared of it, just not my thing. I knew I had to pull the plug, the one on the PSU was closest. The wires popped so fast and fell, open palm down. Forefinger and thumbed it. It was a flame at the time, so I kept my hand away for that. The pop was added bonus!! I've now installed a card that only uses slot power. Should be ok for a while now. haha.

As long as you are still alive thats the main thing. Thanks for that. But there's something to be said, I shouldn't be here a long time ago. I've been shocked" by 120v. Not a great feeling. Had a gun pulled on me and friend during a drug deal. Walked away from a car wreck where the person sitting in front of me experienced death 3 times. Alive today, paralyzed mainly from the chest down. Of course mention street racing, driving drunk and several different parties, well that may have turned into a brawl or invaded by the police task force. (that wasn't fun) Sat a few days after 40 hours of processing in Cook County Jail at 26th and California Chicago, where I knew a guy in for accomplice to armed robbery got Killed in that same jail.... ------ Any ways Pete. My theory of still being alive... God don't want me and the Devil is scared of me or sheer dumb luck. (little of both)

Tachyon Z790 stopped booting although it has had a hard life being stripped , frozen and then cooked in the oven over the last year or so. Dark Kingpin Z790 is going back soon , no longer detects NVME and does stupid things. That will be the second time this has been back. You hammer your stuff for long enough and I suppose it will eventually give up the ghost
