Pretty sure my DFI NF3 250gb is done. Heard the rice crispy sound and the board hasn't posted since. Will let it dry out but I'm not optimistic.

Ouch Water in the socket too? Is this the third board thats drying out? I feel your pain. It must be hot muggy weather there at the moment. Gotta seal that socket up well.

We don't get weather like this this early in the season. It's that bad. Socket had dielectric grease in it. Didn't matter. Very seldom have this problem so I blame it on the weather.

In weather like that the water can form under where a you have got a fan sitting on the VRM the raised pressure under the fan will cause water. Do your fans have rings of water droplets around the edge? I have gotten a couple of boards wet and dead without any chilled water on the right days.

That makes more sense to me. I didn't notice water on the fan, but I wasn't looking either. All of the water WAS under where the fan was though.

The water on the fan isnt really noticeable unless you are looking for it its just a fine line around the edge where the tips of the blades are. But I use it as a guide on those sort of days. On a side note Shane has got 3D06 running around in his head he's hooked. When I was there yesterday he is telling me at certain points in the runs the score should be higher than that. The card throttles above a certain point but he has got a 7900GTX incoming, definitely Hooked.

Oh I know. We've been talking. lol That Pixelview GTX he has coming is a Chinese knockoff. I'll be interested to see how it clocks. Typically, I stay away from Pixelview now. Got burned too many times.
BTW, all of my wet boards are alive today. The NF3 250gb isn't right though. All the voltages bounce pretty bad. I'll be replacing that with a NF4X if I can find a good buy. I'm in no hurry.

The NF3 250gb isn't right though. All the voltages bounce pretty bad. Let it dry out longer if its alive it should come good moisture takes time to dry out when it gets under parts. @ Shane we will see how it goes when it gets here. although its taken a bit of my confidence away.

Don't worry about it. The price was good. I paid $100 for a Pixelview 7950 GT AGP card that lasted me about 10 minutes....if that.

This is July/August weather. We generally only get 7-10 33c+ degree days a year. 36c today with a 26c dew point. I have central air and it had a struggle to keep up set at 22c.

well i think youre in for a rough summer, when it gets that hot here which it does in summer and hotter i turn the air on a couple of hours prior to benching, even here the air struggles if the temps are up that high but it keeps the room at around 21 c and dries the ambient out some, touch wood i ve only had the condensation event happen once i think but it didnt kill the board, i took it apart , blew it out with air and it was ok and started again, i feel for you guys in that heat, we know what its like only too well over here, when its still 35c at midnight here is the really rough time and you cant sleep even with the air on and im only a few mins from the beach but when the heat is comin in from the north west it doesnt matter lol

Good deal. It wouldn't have made a big difference in your scores anyway. Your 7900's you have already are fine.

I just sent you another mail we might try a few of those bioses on the card you got there one might have a higher throttling tolerance.

Speaking of "7950" and "killing things" does killing an HD 7950 record count? Cause I've just killed the GPUPI 32B record.

Just doing some testing and found I have lost my FX8350 I was suspect on the Mem debug led on the crosshair telling me it was a memory problem at the time it suddenly went bad even though the mem module was frozen white, after playing with these things for so long you just know that something has shit itself by the way it just went kapoof while booting up then after that the mem debug light kept coming on and it would just cycle and wouldnt boot. The Crosshair is fine its running happily with my 960T in there. The anticipation of an 8Ghz validation had me in and it was late in the session I ended up giving it 2.18v and that was what killed it. After looking at the other subs over 8Ghz all I needed to do was lower the NB and HT another notch and it would of done it easy the excitement of the moment got me and I wasnt thinking properly just throwing more voltage at it. Ah well in this game you lose some and you win some. I will order another tomorrow for next week. I should of saved a validation at 7935 but I wanted 8Ghz, it has got me in now being so close I WANT IT.

aah what a bugger pete, you were so close too, but doesnt matter how long you been clocking stuff whether be it 1-2- 10- 20 yrs, i think the excitement factor will always be a player especially when youre trying for the magic 8 gig, im sure youll crack it and better next run and im gunna be there too

and to add i reckon ive killed the xfx 7900gt card, i put the water block on it, checked the tim coverage 4 times with the insulation to make sure the heights were right with complete tim coverage on the chip and block face, let it run for 3 hours just with the pump, ice and cold water to make sure of the condensation level and no water leaks, all cool. hit the go button and i had pixel lines on the screen and it told me to insert the cd disc again, i knew there was something wrong as normally it boots straight into windows, pulled the block off , headset glasses on and looked at the chip and saw top right hand corner what appears to be part of the chip has come away, it looks like a grey colour not the constant black colour of the rest of the chip so ill put the air cooler back on and see if it goes into windows, if it does the same as what its doing with the water block ill know ive killed it somehow, the card was going so well too against the 512 mb cards sorry pete

Dont worry about the card Shane one thing I will say though it telling you to insert the Windows disk is usually a setting and that it cant boot not usually a card problem although lines on the screen is a card problem. Make sure the card is dry and put the air cooler back on and try it again.

just did that pete, telling me the same thing i checked all the settings and all seems right, i still have a few lines on the monitor tho, theyre flickering , dunno, its like windows has crashed as well, just put the nvidia gtx 650 card in as i know thats always a goer card , no flickering in the screen but the same deal, clrd cmos and now all stock, and same thing, boot from cd ,insert disk when its set to boot from HD as the 1st, 2nd, 3rd boot, boot other device disabled, got me beat
