May long weekend can't come soon enough. Indeed I just want to order paint and know it'll survive the trip from Denton, TX... Since very few seem to carry that brand of paint up here, grrrf. I suspect I'll survive by buying a few more gunpla kits, lol

Yeah, I had to turn the furnace back on again too. I had it off for a little while when the temps got surprisingly warm here in Chicago and then they just dropped like a rock again. It's been like a roller coaster ride here with the temps.

Our rounds of wet, stromy weather are off and running again. Tropical system moving in with plenty of the wet stuff plus wind. Luckily it's not a hurricane but you can see on the radar it's rotating so.... It could have been had it formed later this year. Good thing too since we're on the east side of it this time, even with it being as weak as it is now some flooding is expected over the weekend.

The first of expected tropical systems is headed our way according to the tracking data on it. May be a Cat 1 or 2 hurrcane by the time it gets to the coast, it's expected to be here where I am over the weekend or Monday.

Winter tire season has begun over here. Parts of the country have already had real use of them, here in the southern part not so much. Been rainy and some 5-10 'C temp. But the road conditions can change during nights, an early morning ride to whatever task need be, can be a gamble. Put the winter tires on spouse's daily driver so we have some means to get going if need be, in icy road conditions. The other "tank" will need tire renewal soon, but it is going in for a regular service in a week, will try to have it done then.

First snow last night. A fast 4 inches. And then the chaos.

We just had a little dusting the other day. Nothing much to speak of. The ground is still too warm for it to stick but that is changing. Our temps are dropping that's for sure. It was pretty nippy out there today. In the 40*F in the sun today. Wind is what makes it feel so much colder. My skin has wind burn on it. I will have to put something on it before bed tonight. Burns around my giant nose. LOL I heard rumors of us getting a harsh winter this year. Crap. My arthritis and nerve damage will be horrible this winter.

god damn cold weather, the whole country. Around my place, outdoor temp been hovering around -20°C / -4F close to two weeks now, not much snow though, likely tomorrow something, but the snow gear is still in the shed.
The coldest weather that I recall here in December was in 2001, a steady -25°C / -13F the whole month.
Yes we do get even lower than this, but later on during winters.

-25.. Balmy!
Just kidding.. But I do ride my bike in -30s because work starts so early that busses are not running yet.. we do have an SUV, but she uses it for work, and the kids. I fucked up in my early 20s so no driving for me. Bike it is lol.. but fuck me I am going to be 44 next month. Keeps you young.. sorta.. but I am probably in better shape than most of my friends who I never talk to anymore since the kids were born.
Once my loan is paid off I will take out a much larger loan so I can drive again..

I get this. Thing is, one need to really prepare with warm clothing and gear to avoid being chilled down too much if the ride does not go as planned. Same applies when going by car, if the car or traffic interrupts from getting to a destination in time, frostbite is something want to avoid. ok, now we have mobile phones, easier to call help if things go bad. That was not the case when I was younger Was using bicycles for nearby commute for some 11months a year, until I got my drivers license.
btw, now here is +0°C, but icy roads here and there, need to use penguin walk at places to minimize risk of falling.

We are in a warm spell here in Chicago. 18.3*C/65*F by midweek. But that always means there is something behind it. Usually, some sort of snowstorm to follow if history repeats itself. I will enjoy the warm weather while we have it. My joints can no longer handle extreme cold anymore. I think we can expect to have strange weather patterns from now on.

Mother Nature must be going through menopause or something.. it was +2c today, with a nice southeast breeze @ about 50 kp/h That's like 25mph I think? I am stuck in a world or Imperial and Metric.. conversion gets a little hazy a times, but its probably just the operator. I dress pretty warm.. Long Johns, jeans, t-shirt, sweater, warmish jacket, toque, gloves, and Nikes In my early 20s I was coming home from work one day and with the wind it was so cold you could fall asleep in a snowbank. Resist the urge to rest and push on or you could die.. serious business. I still give my mom shit for not continuing on west where life is better and the air isn't trying to kill you every minute of the day and even more at night. She is from the East Coast. Her accent comes out when she is drunk

Oh crap. Here you go again Scottie. Protect those hands pal. Keep those joints warm. I might get some electric rechargeable socks. Expensive but worth it when you have nerve damage. I walk like a penguin now. LOL

I walk like a penguin now. LOL Yup. Me too. Stairs are rough. Won't win any race there. For winter, I delegated myself one single property to take care of. Don't have to leave the nice warm cab. I still control the entire city route from there though.

We will get a dusting of snow and remaining cold. We got an early ice storm and that ice is hard as concrete here. Sun hit it and melted it and it got cold again refreezing it which made it even harder and thicker. My alley is coated with the stuff. We had a car stuck in there all day today. An all-wheel drive car no less. It was a Tesla. Just too low and maybe the wrong set of tires on it. Tow truck came by and towed it away. It's really slick back there. Almost fell on my ass trying to throw trash in the bin. Sheesh. It's all ice coated and shiny out there.

We're good here in Chicago right now. The major storms have passed us by. Still cold and the ice is a pain but we're good. The storm making machine(Lake Michigan)has not kicked in yet. I do wear my snow suit every time I go out now. Darned thing is so warm. Keeps heat in so nicely. My nerve damage isn't as bad with it on but I have to remember to cover my hands and wear a hood to keep warm. Cold weather and nerve damage really don't mix well.

Took me 3 hours+ to clear the snow... (17771 steps, 26 floors, 11.91km, 187 min according to my fitbit)... We have a solid 16" of snow.. drifts in some areas are near 4'.... top is very fluffy... but the bottom from last night is wet and heavy... I'm freaking sore right now... took some advil... thinking of making a royal espresso to warm up...
my street has not been plowed yet... is is 1pm...
I called in a snow day for work... and yes, I can work from home... but I am freaking sore, tired and grumpy... lol... I bet I'[ll feel it way more tomorrow or wednesday
