My Opteron what I wanted to use for the comp at first totally lost contact between ihs and the die. Not turned bad but really totally zero. Slowly it would reach even 80 degree in bios just turned down around 75. Those are not so hot chips even, I'm amazed how could broke this to zero heat spreading. I wish it is the problem though... :S I will delid now, so it will be cleared soon. I hope this is the problem only and also I'm not going to hurt the chip since its a really nice clocker little one !

Going to be a few days for me, can't find my AMD studs to mount a water block with the stock back plate and none of my AMD after market back plates aren't able to do 2 hole. Went through my junk screw jar had one that would work, checked on line for the locale Home Depot nothing in stock so ended up having to order through the mail. Actually really didn't want to leave the house anyway don't know what proper attire is for being in public or if it would be considered a essential outing.

Should of used a 939 Asus MB but Scott is always kicking my ass with a DFI and can use some BH5 instead of TCCDs Don't have anything working for Nvidia, 1900 XT looks like it's going to work (?) 1950 XT only with water. Finding a chipset sink sucked had to drag out the junk tub, nothing sitting out dead fit. Do have a low profile one but no mass in the base. You can see the dust on the chair been awhile since I've been in that corner. Brad I couldnt agree more if you have got a Asus A8N-32-SLI Deluxe that is what I would be using the DFI boards suck at 3D something I have noted before. My 7900GTX does 785mhz in other boards cant get over 720 in the DFI plus I have to downclock the CPU to get it through the bench.

That's the board I've got (A8N-32-SLI Deluxe) and had thought about running anyway.
For WPrime the DFI's are good, the Asus in this case would give you a good shot at doing well, esp if it's the A8N-32-SLI Deluxe. For 3D the layout of the DFI's can be a real problem due to the interference with a GPU to the NB cooler with the card in the top slot.
Only problem is finding one. The SLI versions can be found easily, it's the 32 versions of it that are in demand and kinda hard to find, just not as hard to find as a DFI. I'm glad I bought mine back in the day new so not only do I have it I also know it's history from day one.
I actually bought two of them but eventually traded one off for an Expert, the first 939 DFI I ever owned. That board itself is dead now but since I've obtained others to take it's place.

Found what I needed in my S462 water block parts, hopefully have a place holder up by tomorrow. Have a A8N32-SLI Deluxe go to board just testing parts. Added: Actually didn't think this board would post, found a Nvidia card hiding in with the AGP cards. I guess you need a fan on the NB! Spent a little time looking around and setting things in BIOS by the time I looked NB was over 55c and the sink was almost to hot to touch. Anybody tell me how up to date the BIOS is?

Maybe. I have that patch but it's not needed as the install source is already Build 330. I have run the various patches found here and there including that official Build 330 patch. It's annoying running into this bug. I'm running Server 2003 R2 and having gone though my 3DMark 2001 SE screen shots, I've run it on XP, XP64, Win 7 64 and Win 10 64. Strange I'm getting this issue when Server 2003 R2 is the same codebase as XP64. Thanks

Surprising how using a different board is getting my interest in this going again. RAM needs a lot of work and it took around four hours to get past a 220 FSB, had all the ratios off in my head. 10c on the fluid.

Good run BUT if this was intended to be an entry I have to say we're using 1024M for the comp.
Do more testing and tweaking, you'll get a really nice result to sub once done.

First time I've been over 3.5v on the RAM (3.7) now to work on efficiency (I'm pretty happy so far). Still a day or two off. The other platforms using what I'm use to so shouldn't take to long.

That's very good ram frequency. What sticks? Tip also: Wprime doesn't really care too much about ram frequency. It's all about CPU MHz. You're doing well Brad.

Kingstons, got a SPD shot a couple posts back. I'll agree on the second statement just tried W7 knocked about 4 seconds off any WP32 I've posted but took 1.72 vcore and the slowest memory divider to make windows at 3.1 did get it back to 3375 with software.

Yours acts just like mine. Wait till you run and pass the 1024m and it hangs when you open cpu-z. Fun times.

Run it on XP. Link to my OneDrive for patch. 1drv.ms/u/s!Akv2fO-y-lM7i0zPhKSuYnw5mP-Z?e=kiHj8l Installed XP SP2 because that's what I happen to have on CD. Updated it to SP3 and then unofficial SP4. 3DMark 2001 SE now runs (didn't install it, just run it from where it is on the Server 2003 R2 disk) but slowly and now CPU-z 1.91.0 x32 hangs the system at the detecting processors stage. Aquamark also runs super slow as well.

Get a copy of CPU-Z 1.59, I have it on the comp's opening page just for this issue. Get it, archive a copy of it somewhere and you're set.

Forget that SP4 crap next time. Totally un-needed. Move 3D01 and AQM to the XP disk.

Does anyone have a screen shot app?? Thought I had Tiny Take on File, open the folder, it's empty... huh. I must have moved it last time instead of copy it.
If you have a better smaller quicker app, I'm all about it. Been doing the old copy paste MsPaint trick... like I've always pretty much done it. But tired of doing it that way.
Help a brother out would yea?

This one works well for me. Snapshot- Lab501.zip (76.22 KB) Had the 754 system out on the bench for days now ready to go other than XP but I've got no motivation to actually run it. 2.7GHz Newcastle 3200+ isn't going to put up much of a fight.

Either way, got nothing to loose. (edit: and thanks guys for the screen capture apps. appreciate it. Both was the same app btw)

Hey Pete, maybe you can help with this. Found some pictures on the Web for simple v-core mod on 7900GS / GT. Is the reference one and the same for both GS and GT? (So I've been reading) Was looking for simple mods, found a couple of pencil mods (conductive ink) wanted to know if this information is useful, or there's something there I'm not seeing or these are not correct pictures. Which one of these is most accurate and which would you recommend sir? Anything to be aware of? And lastly, can the v-core be raised with bios mods instead? Thanks in advance.
