Who is all folding? it's looking like a near 100k ppd. my rig has been down. I've been away for a personal item. I've been off work for the last 2 weeks and it looks like I'll be off another 4 weeks. Until I get stuff sorted out I won't be folding.
pulling a few WU's tonight, but that's about all for a bit.

I had to shut things down, things weren't playing too nicely on the gaming rig, aaaand it was causing heat issues in our place despite it being winter outside >.>;;;

Me. I'm still folding. Not putting out anything major in points, but will continue to chug along.

Wow. I've been folding but never got any points.
Then all of a sudden, today 1100 work units get submitted for 206K pts and put me over the 2 million mark and 8500 WU completed.
WTF happened?

Stats server was down for just over two days, or was it three. It happens randomly, usually lasting about a day and a half at most though.

Just got the GTX 970 fixed and setup, it's kicking ass compared to the 780.
Showing around 370,000 PPD ATM and got a really good project going too for points. The 780 would only do about 48,000 PPD and while that's OK this card just kills it. An addtional bonus is this card is running cooler too, at least 10c and I don't have to crank the fan up as high either to keep it that way.
Best thing of all the card was a freebie after all was said and done with the deal of how it went concerning me getting the card in the first place. It reappeared yesterday from whatever USPS limbo-hell it was in and it's doing fine after I did the fix to it, took about 10 minutes to do once I found a donor for what it needed.
I'll let it fold some today and will be of more help as I'm able with this one guys.

It's stupidly cold outside (windchill is below -40C) and even with the heater pretty much cranked it's been.... "Interesting" in the apartment. Firing the GTX 980 Ti back up again because of various reasons ^_^

After getting another GTX 970 headed my way I let this one have at it for some folding, already completed one work unit this morning and now it's doing another. That will be it for at least a week but that should give us a little boost to our points.
If the other 970 turns out to be good or at least fixable I'll probrably try it with both.

This 970 is currently doing about 354,000 PPD but tends to hang around the 350,000 mark on average, I'm just wondering if I'm doing good with this card or not.

I'd say that sounds about right. My 980 would do 400-450k ish back in the day, and my 980 Ti is usually sitting around 550-600k.

I wish to have a GTX 980.... A 1060 would be a fine card too.... but Gotta wait it out see how the tax return looks this year. Probably grim, I got 1099'ed from my side job even though he said I didn't have to worry about it, then it showed up in the mail. I went over sat and removed my tool cart and top I had there and quit. I know I know he's doing what he's supposed to do, it's business, but so is promising me I wouldn't get 1099'ed.

We recently broke into the top 1400 for some reason... *whistles innocently* Well it won't last long without a little activity here and there lol. I've done a few yesterday testing out some new memory clocks. They are only cpu WUs so the points are pretty small, but that's what I've been able to contribute. *shrugs* So I know my contributions are small, and I'm sorry for that. The GTX 770 is not efficient by any means to todays standards. I'll be looking into a 1050ti or 1060. Bigger maybe if I can find decent prices used. I don't need much more than a 1050ti for personal uses, but larger than that for work units would be great. Not sure, want to try and keep my spending under 200$ if possible.

Sadly, it's looking like I won't be able to do all that much in the way of Folding in the near-ish future... We're trying to reduce various expenses, so Folding@Home (and even BOINC) are going to be turned right down to the bare minimums. Odds are I'll do a few units here and there on the RTX 2080 though, just to see how it handles (and y'know, call it an extra additional stress test or something) There are the rumoured 1660 and 1650's coming out soon, so hopefully those are targeting similar price brackets as the 1050 and 1050 Ti ^_^

I did see the 1660 out there, it sparked some interest, but feel they are a little too pricey. They also lack ray tracing and AI-enhancement features also making them less appealing.
If I'm going to spend 300+ $$ on a card, I might as well look into 2060s instead.
Gotta remember my budget is limited. I have 3 children a dog a cat and a wife to spend money on too lol.

The 1660 Ti is the one that's $279 USD... I'm referring to the two unannounced, but heavily rumoured to be announced sometime in either early March, or early April depending on which rumour source one goes by. I'm guessing those will wind up being in the $149-229 USD pricing tiers. They'll be similar to the Ti though, where there aren't any RT cores in there, but instead the extra little bit of "stuff" that they put into the Ti. I hear you on budgets though. We're a single income couple, so it's a similar justification process one goes through for every purchase. The only reason we're getting the new graphics cards and ultrawide monitors this tax season is two-fold. First is obviously a decent return, and second that we're running rather old GPU's (at least by gaming standards)... And as for the monitors, uhm... BenQ stopped making the V2210's a LOOOONG time ago - so long ago, I don't even think I was working my current job (which I've been at for, uhm... 7.5 years now) when we purchased them. They were released end of December 2009, so... Yeah, they're definitely an old design, that's for sure. I'd love a 34" ultrawide, but it's a case of either getting the shiny GPU, or a shiny monitor... I'll take the shiny GPU and a monitor that's still bigger than my current center display. ...That and FF XV runs terribly on his rig, aaaaand he wants Anthem. ...Which comes with the RTX 2080 right now (and Battlefield V too). ^_^;;;

I haven't found a game yet my 2060 can't run on max at 1440P and 60+FPS. I'm sure there might be one or two out there, just not any I have. But, if you just need to upgrade for cheap, you might be able to find a used 1070TI for 150 or so, or a 1080TI for 300 or so aftermarket. Just remember a 2060 is basically within margin of error of a 1080@~3% and can be had at about $300 if you deal hunt. So dollar to performance goes to a used 1080TI, for the new side it goes to the 2060. I think the 1660 units are only to be considered in new builds with upgrade intent or upgrades from very very old hardware. The lifespan of the 1660 will not be the life span you have gotten older generations due to all the new techs coming out in the GFX department. Though I have no clue the PPD of the 2060 units for folding.
Do what I do to afford new components, take $50 a check and put it in a safe as personal spend money, got a few checks and add it to your personal budget. You won't regret stepping up the GPU.

THIS 1660ti?? The one right here in the link below for sale at new egg?? This 350$ 1660ti card?? www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA0ZX8TZ5708&Description=1660ti&cm_re=1660ti-_-14-137-391-_-Product200 bucks sir. That is all I'm spending on a new Gpu. Roblox and Gary's Mod are not demanding in such a way I'd buy anything special.. I don't game the newest games until they become old and cheap HAHA. Funny as it is, pure truth. at 60$ a game.... I'd be broke a long time ago. I'd love to have a 2060 or even a 1060. When the money comes, I'll then do my heavy search for a new Gpu. It'll be geared for Daily use. The 6950 that I swapped to the HTPC needs to be removed and something else put in. The card does not like the 1080P TV lol. I have to run some weird resolution it's quite stupid rather. So I'll slap the 770 back to that rig and send the card back from where it came so it can get benched on some X58

Any how. My 3 choices. Or shop in forums instead. www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&DEPA=0&Order=BESTMATCH&Description=1060&N=100007709%20600358543%204017&isNodeId=12060 is way out of my price range fellas. I was thinking this year tax present only 400$ for spending. Try to make HDD and SSD space last one more year (it'll be close) and that's it. Next year so 2020 I'll get the latest Ryzen CPU to chip as long as my current board supports it. I find my motherboard to be suffice for my current 2700X and will easily run 7nm chips without issue. These are my plans. This is how often I can actually buy NEW hardware. Once a year. My current rig was saved up for since last income tax as the Ryzen 1400 was built (full rig case PSU SSDs HDDs Ect Ect) all brand new build. The wife's rig is so old, I make sure that one shuts down or sleeps. Opteron 1386 or 1389.... I can't even remember lol... is whats she's rocking. She at least has a GTX 760 lol. But really useless for her needs honestly. So for her, after I get a couple of those Ryzen Athlon processors (part of the 400$ budget) I intend to get her the lowest end A320 ? B320? chipset that supports the Athlons. Then maybe de-lid the opteron and slip it into a box somewhere perhaps give it away with a contest or something. Any how the wifes rig is the second newest hardware at my house. Everything else pre-dates it.

My total house income 4 jobs 2 people 3 kids was only 53K. My net from the full time job was only 38K'ish. Our family is not far off the poverty line and that's honest taxed work. (stupid 1099 b.s.)

The cards I keep referring to are these ones, that have not yet actually been announced, but are regularly being featured on the rumour mill: www.techradar.com/news/cheaper-nvidia-gtx-1660-1650-graphics-cards-coming-soon ...Apparently it's VideoCardz that's done the leaking, or talking about it. Caution, that link has videos that auto-start on it. "Digitimes reports there are plans to release a GeForce GTX 1660 on March 15th for $229 (about £170, AU$320). What’s more, there will also purportedly be a GeForce GTX 1650 launching on April 30th for $179 (about £135, AU$250)." "According to VideoCardz, the GeForce GTX 1660 will feature 1,280 CUDA cores with either 6GB or 3GB of GDDR5 video memory. The GeForce GTX 1650, on the other hand, is still heavily shrouded in mystery and we’ve only heard it will come equipped with 4GB of GDDR5 VRAM." No guarantees on the performance they bring to the table, but something to keep in mind as a possibility if picking up a new GPU isn't necessary just right this moment/instant. .....Also, it's Wulfe ~_^

So it's a GTX 1060 rebranded as a 1660? (NON ti) Looks to have the same amount of cuda cores and memory.... I "know" it's Wulfe, but from habit typed it as wolf. My apologies. (Curious.. same animal just with cute spelling?)

So it's a GTX 1060 rebranded as a 1660? (NON ti) Looks to have the same amount of cuda cores and memory.... I "know" it's Wulfe, but from habit typed it as wolf. My apologies. (Curious.. same animal just with cute spelling?) In all honesty, not many rumours have really touched on whether or not it's repackaged or not... But it seems it might be of a similar concept to the 1660 Ti, with a Turing architecture behind it, just minus the RTX features. One can dream, that a lower tiered card can have the newest cores in it. Sadly, it seems we'll have to wait at least a few weeks to find out for certain. If it truly is Turing, that would hopefully be a decently powerful budget card, to say the least. As for the name, no real worries about it, it happens on a regular basis. I need to figure out a way to make it come across more playfully, since text kind of kills off most indicators of this and that. With regards to the spelling, it's technically a reference to olde English, where "wulfe" was used to describe those "lone wolves" that wound up causing havoc and/or mischief. Some of it is steeped in lore, and mythos, others... Good question. In essence, it was a different spelling in order to not take away from the nobility of the "proper" wolf. Interestingly enough.... My av/character (that's in pretty much every HWBot screenshot of mine) is actually a fox... A fennec fox to be precise. Well, in that shot anyways. He's a hybrid of a lot of things, and I used to introduce him as a "five tailed, fennec based folfsune", although a few things have changed regarding him over the years. As is somewhat obvious by the black and orange fur, there isn't any white in his colouration... Oh, and to answer the question of "what's a folf" that may or may not crop up when reading that description, a folf is a fox/wolf hybrid, although there's noticeably more fox to his design, and just a few nods to wolves. So, in short, despite the name, I am not a white wolf, nor is the name based off of White Wolf Publishing either
