Yes yes the card wouldn't be a rebranding from extra stock laying around.... like we've never seen it before. If it was a 2 series rebrand for dirt cheap.... I'd be more interested I suppose. I'd just find a nice 1060ti used assuming it would be all around "bigger" of a card in terms of cuda core count, I'm not sure I'd need to research that though, either way, they are finding ways to make sales and that's important. Oh yes thank you for the explanation about your avatar/screen shots. I really did take notice!! very artistic, Impressive! I've never been able to design in the digital world, I've always done that by hand and utensil (not a key board lol) on paper or other and pretty much free hand. I'm better at objects than living organisms unless you like abstract in flesh..... You should see some of my daughters artwork, if I get a second to remember, I'll take a couple of snap shots from her portfolio. My name is stupid, but I just stuck with it. I changed the Brine to Brime just to make people ask isn't it supposed to be briNe? No. I didn't want it to be, therefor when you google exactly the text as you see it, I'll always be at the top of the page. wink wink Edit: Ironically, this post is at the top of page 2 pwa. Got myself all up high today ShrimpBrime

just realized that the bar moved a bit since we started, to be 1200 of better, we need over 44 mil points (4 Mil more). So realistically we won't get there until mid to late next week.

In a week of passing 1200th position, we will be passing 1100th position. we're in a comfy spot in a few days to a week I'll have to shutdown my folding setup for some system maintenance/tinkering. I'm going to be playing with SSD RAID's and Linux OS's on my PC, Going to Dual Boot between Win10/linux for a bit... I want to start to stray away from Win10, it's been pissing me off... Linux Mint, Steam Box, Wine and Lutris are providing some motivation for that. Some of the games I play already have Linux support through steam, my browser is supported (FireFox). Even the folding app has Linux support... So what the hell... Once I start, I'll create a thread about it. Vin
EDIT: Reading up on either using Mint or Ubuntu

I'm hoping before long to have a better GPU to throw in with as I can, my activity is limited for good reason and a better GPU would certainly help.

I hope to be back folding soon when the sA gets here. I need to rebuild the rig a little. Have a 1200 Ryzen that I will slap the 2700X air cooler on. See how far that gets me lol....
Yea but hope to try and bang out a few WUs. I don't think this Athlon with Vega graphics is going to make much for points. Maybe 75pts every 3 hours lol. (that's a guesstimate.)

I'll have to break in my RTX 2080 at some point, so I'll give that a whirl over the next few nights I suspect.... ^_^

Nice, 2080's are usually good for 1.3-1.4mil ppd.. about 100-150K better than my 1080Ti.
I keep eye balling the 2080Ti's... 2.4-2.5Mil ppd... if I wasn't broke...

I will be looking at one of those before long and if I do get one, hope it doesn't suffer from Cobain's-Syndrome like so many others have. I see postings all the time about how a 2080 just died not long after purchase, there is an inherent problem with these cards just falling over and with the expense involved it does make me wonder if it's worth the risk.

I've read the same thing with 2080Ti's and specifically around the Asus Strix versions... which is the version I'd want to get as the 1080Ti Strix that I have has given me a high regard for the card. Folding 100% on the card and my temps are 46 degrees right now, never seen the card above 50 degrees... I'm clocked up to 2000Mhz Core and 5454Mhz Memory. Didn't have to touch the Power limit... Solid Card...

I'm wondering how well one of the new Radeon VII's might do. I know Nvidia is better for folding but still have to wonder about that because those cards are just so much cheaper, you can almost get two for the price of one 2080, let alone a 2080ti.

nVidia's are kings at folding now. it's not AMD's game anymore

Way better than the 320,000 or so PPD I get with this 970. Reason I'm thinking about a new card is for folding but also for future viability, aside from that the 970 is doing fine.

And as for OCN's database... If you look at the individual results, my name is plastered all over it... Especially GTX 770, 780, 980, and 980 Ti ^_^;;;; AMD still pretty much rules the roost for most BOINC projects though, due to double precision performance.

Ah, I went for the ones with good coolers and much better VRMs, so they're usually in the $1150 range. m.newegg.ca/products/N82E16814126249$1090 atm, oh well, $60 cheaper than what I paid but I don't care about that since I've had my card for over two weeks and am quite happy with it ^_^

One thing I did note was PPD by project and the project I have (14166) isn't listed. I guess they haven't updated the list lately because that's the project I've had for awhile now and still working on that one apparently. Here's what I'm currently looking at.

I don't recall the project number, but my 290x is taking 13 hours to complete a project every now and then. been happening more often lately... Vin
EDIT: the points are reflective though. that project will net 125K+

As long as it stays under 70c it's fine but once it gets above that I'll do what I have to. No, don't have a fan curve setup and right now it's doing about the same, I usually just set a manual fanspeed and monitor temps as it goes.
Since I'm usually on the machine while it's folding like I am now I can keep an eye on things. ATM I got another project (14165) that's going quickly and pulling about 353,000 PPD right now.
