XPSC has better than average blocks, I think the Neo Metal is Intel only, I'd have to double check on that though.
Well, I don't know about you being a whore in that way.... You where buying into AIO and Air coolers. It was driving me nuts man. This is the honest to creators truth!
Once you get below 70c sustained, I'm very interested to see how your PBO goes especially after you get a new block.

LOL. Yeah, with the cooler weather coming on and the new block I should see some interesting numbers I should think.

Ain't that the truth Vin. Spikey, Spikey, Spikey. Right... here mine on an EK Supremecy Full copper block and a 280mm x 140mm x 45mm rad with 4 fans in a push-pull...
If this setup can't mash that... nothing that's 24/7 will
Vin
EDIT: maybe if I got a better case for water cooling, then I could run a triple rad setup.. then maybe it would do better...
EDIT2: also keep in mine my system is in the basement... so it's like 20 degrees ambient down here...

AIO's are fine if you browse the web... start gaming and do long loads, the water gets rashed/saturated with heat and then your a snowball going down hill while on fire...
then you'd be better off with a good air setup...
that's where I'm at now with Cooling PC... you either go balls deep with a custom setup or you invest in a better than average air cooler... I'm done with AIO's and I got a drawer full to prove it... I just wish the barbs on those rads weren't 1/8".. it would actually make the rads worth using/recycling...

Most blocks are a thin plate. with acrylic top sections (or plastic of some sort) and as we know, these materials are insulators. I was going to correct you.. but shit, EK doesn't make the full copper block that I have anymore....
My pump had failed and I was running my i7-980x with an OC and gamed for nearly 4-5hours before the OS crashed... after a failed boot I went in the bios and saw the CPU at 100 degrees...
let it for the night, swapped the pump and away the system went... props to the block.. others wouldn't not had held up... and really no telling how long the pump was going or gone before that night...

This is the conductive order of metal. Full Nickel waterblock. Hmm it's #6 on the list, but still pretty good for conducting heats.
Silver Copper Gold Aluminum Zinc Nickel Brass Bronze Iron Platinum Carbon Steel Lead Stainless Steel
I do have a silver coldplate which was made from a Silver Dollar. Lapped both sides. Wish it was thicker though.

I would preferably like to find a high performance full copper water block with a good retention system. Seems most of what I'm seeing out there are made more to look pretty than to be truly functional.
That Supremacy EVO looks badass.

The looks are ok. The cold plate designs have matured, probably some time ago. Typically full copper blocks are more expensive to produce so they cost more to the consumers.

The mounting solution is what I like the most I think. Looks good and sturdy.

I like the weight. Its heavy. So mounting should be sturdy..
The black one would match your rig, or if the copper is cheaper, just paint it. 😃

I love that black one. Edit: That water block is out of stock everywhere. The best price WAS at Modmymods but it is out of stock there too. Oh well.

So email and phone orders may take that long. Doesn't say anything for online purchase, perhaps a phone call to confirm shipping times??
Either way, they are not out of stock.... lol

Yea, that's a little steep on shipping costs...
Did some tweaking last night with the 2700X. Got it running right now at 3.2ghz and 1 single volt. Pulls a max of 71w all 16 threads and an idle wattage of 15w.
Not too far off from passive cooling (no fans) and is something I tend to aim for trying out sometime. But I need a proper passive heatsink to do it. In order to run this chip passive, I need to be under 50w if possible. So last night I decided to try gaming at 3.2ghz, it's fine. No major loss in fps. Gonna see how it acts with SMT off vs on to try and lower TDP a little. I don't think it will make a large difference at the 1v mark though.

as long as you don't have a size constraint and can use a normal PC Case...
Just a few options. the last one was featured on LTT a while back. They use it to cool a 9900k, for normal day to day, it did fine.

Now those are big coolers.
Dont run a case. So the heat will go straight up from the cpu. Will that make a difference with those coolers??

Now those are big coolers. Dont run a case. So the heat will go straight up from the cpu. Will that make a difference with those coolers?? the 2nd one, Silverstone Tek Heligon can run a fan if you want. and if you do it's a 150W cooler.. you could run a very low speed fan that would be silent just to move the heated air away.
the 3rd one, the guys at Linus Tech Tips factored up a round fan to fit at the top. also run slow to keep it silent. the 9900k at idle ran 50 degrees, gaming and doing tasks was running about 80 degrees... not great, but wasn't throttling.
the 1st one.. cause it's pretty...

Was thinking cheap. www.newegg.com/arctic-cooling-alpine-am4-passive-acalp00022a/p/N82E16835186205?Description=Passive%20cooler%20AM4&cm_re=Passive_cooler_AM4-_-35-186-205-_-Product11 bucks. Good for 50w. That means it will handle my 60w TEC without a fan. 3.9 inches long, 3.9inches tall, 2 and 3/4" deep. Massive. At 3.2ghz 1v could run the chip sub-ambient and silent. (possible??) Oh and for comparison purposes....Of what I've got going now, fan fixed 20% to 65c. Won't go lower. The current stock heatsink with the fan mounted does very poorly with cpu fan off. Running only GPU fans and Cpu fan. It is very quiet. Quietest I've ever run lol. Ran each bench back to back and the HS slowly started warming up and retaining some heat with fan at only 20%. The heat sink could be cleaned also. It is dusty, partially clogged lol. Final Fantasy XV benchmark.. 3.2ghz 16T 7263pts 48.6c 3.2Ghz 8C 7423pts 51.2c 3.7Ghz 16T 7477pts 56.3c 3.7Ghz 8C 7432pts 57c
