Yeaaaah... No more screwing around with that other board. Sure, it means re-installing AGAIN, but eh. .....Nobody warned me this thing was a nightclub in and of itself when you fire it up though! Additionally..... WhiteWulfe / QX6850 / 2x 1GB Reaper DDR2 / P5N32-E SLI / AIO-CLC / 450.06 MHz ...More to come later. Kind of need sleep and all that, so sleep it is, and then the final tidbits of Windows 7 install, and then.... The fun and mayhem BEGINS with a wolf errr FOX at the door! (Yes, I've switched to a Wolfdale, why do you ask? ) What Gigabyte board is that? Vin

What Gigabyte board is that? Vin The one and only (copper clad) disco ball of death (sooooooooo many LEDs that light up during post)... Errr, I mean EP45T-Extreme, that before shipping costs (which brought it to something like $125-130 CAD total - errr $132.93 according to PayPal history) cost me all of $85.65 CAD, and came with a video card, cheap ram, a Q9300, and cheap power supply.... ^_^ ....That's been collecting dust since beginning of September 2017 since I hadn't done much other than test it out to see that it works before setting it off to the side for another day. Oh, and compared to the previous board? It took like ten minutes for Windows 7 to install, and it installed without a fuss, so huge bonus there! ^_^

ah, the cooling tower threw me off. I almost bought one a month ago and the heatsinks were quite different, not at all like that one.
also the board in your submission is incorrect.
Vin
EDIT: it's soo pretty....

Vin EDIT: it's soo pretty.... I used the P5N32-E SLI for the 450.06 submission, and switched to the Gigabyte afterwards. No submissions have been done so far on the Extreme - I suppose I should have put those two in separate posts ^_^;;;; Definitely have to agree, it's a rather sexy one, and it was nice to get the air bracket too with it! ..Had to repaste it though, for two reasons - one, previous owner had wires running under it, and two they had put just a single line of paste instead of filling the grooves..

Hi guys, time for the next comp I see. You guys with the EP45T-Extreme better have a lot of spare time; it needs all the tweaking. Best I managed on AIO/air (CPU/NB) was 696MHz with it. Last month I was doing a bit of E8#00 FSB binning on it and found that all chips would do >660MHz on phase and the C0s were generally worse than the E0 (~+10MHz).

First and foremost, grats on the 696! Secondly, if it gets me to break 580, I'm happy. If it breaks 628 I'm ecstatic ^_^ Given how many hours it took to get my P5E just to boot loop (and then finally let me hit 575) I'm up for hours of tweaking, especially if it means beating my previous beats that were on dry ice... With a "puny" 240mm aio ^_^ You joining in with this Nox, as well as giving DR4G00N a few extra tips? ~_^ I'd love to see DR4G00N get some great scores on LGA 775 (insert "one of us one of us" chant here, LGA 775 is so much fun)

I'll have a quick play with my EP45T s after I finish mining my way through my 939 chips.

Have a little TP Intel grinding to do but switching to AMD after that. This is about as good as I'm going to do for the comp. Might have a better CPU but generally don't check for high FSB as I'm a long way cooling wise from 10x600. Not going to get a meaningful SS with this version of CPUz. hwbot.org/submission/3893361_

Going to give the P5E3 Deluxe with an E8200 a shot right now under the chiller since I'm done torturing my poor P3 866 Direct die watercooling (worked about as well as you can guess).

Is that a cutoff bottle? How does your chiller work you stick ice in the bottle.

How long did it last before shutdown?

Post by dr4g00n on Jul 10, 2018 19:44:52 GMT -5
Never got it to shutdown on me after running spi for 15mins, die was at 85c and water at 60c according to my probe. Probably wouldn't have lasted much longer. DR4G00N / E8200 / G.Skill Flare 2000C9 PSC / P5E3 Deluxe / Chilled water / 585MHz Chilled didn't seem to help fsb very much, only gained 5mhz over ambient water.

Welp, so much for staying ahead of dr4g00n! *laughs nervously*
...I really should have installed the various drivers last night on this board, it's boring watching stuff slowly transfer over when you'd rather be watching your screen keep swapping between HDMI (gaming rig's left monitor) and D-SUB input (benching rig) as you try and push it further. Playfully shooting for 550 or 575 to start, and see where things go - naturally I'd love beating my previous best!

Hadn't tested this board properly before, but it seems nice - although not as good at FSB or mem as my other EP45T-Extreme. Noxinite/E8500/Team Group 2600C10 1x4GB/EP45T-Extreme/Phase + Air/685.7MHz. valid.x86.fr/ivwp7t

Wheee, got most of my drivers installed, so I'm happy about that, because hey, if I'm going to tweak around and play with this board, the least I can do is also have some fun with trying to take some of my old dry ice personal bests down because I think it would be hilarious to do better on air (and then have to rebench with dry ice and this board, for even better scores!). That and other benches help reduce any possible monotony (sp?) you may run into when constantly trying for just the same thing. ^_^ ....Pity I have to work, grrrr, I'd rather bench!

I wish I had one of those or at least a good P45 board in general, both my P5Q-E & P5Q3 Deluxe struggle to even hit 500fsb on water with a wolfdale, though oddly they'll do 550+ on conroe.

Conroe and Wolfdale like different skews (and maybe GTLs, but I haven't tested that), but then again it seems different boards (even the same chipset) like different ratios between CPU and NB skews.

I wanted a Rex, but at the price that Extreme came up at, I decided on the Extreme ^_^;;;; We shall see how the cards fall with this particular board, because my one curiosity is what kind of degradation my 1.9Vcore dry ice runs have done to said E8400. But yeah, either way, I'd be beyond happy to break 575, and doubly so 600+. Just a case of seeing what happens, and of course learning the board! ^_^ The issues I thought I'd have with the BIOS aren't anywhere near what I was worried about, so I'm thankful about that. It's also nice how the board will be all "eh your settings didn't work, we'll reboot and bump a few of them up to see if it'll work anyways". Shooting for 550+ tonight, although breaching 575 would be epic.. Getting GPU Pi to work would be nice too, but I suspect it's the copy of Win7 I'm running since applying several patches hasn't really done much, but I haven't bothered to research the errors yet.

WhiteWulfe, have you tried the Rampage Formula BIOS on your P5E works rather well.
