Stormy wind, rain like hell and snow - that's only today. Can't remember snow in May over here. Does happen out of the city, in the mountains. Several roads are under water, trees fallen and so on. Luckily I sit in a place with no windows at all

Position 60th parallel north, Europe. Entering 4th week of pure summer. This morning +15C and afternoon temps hovering around +25C to +29C. Spring has not been this warm in 50 years in these areas. Not complaining Here it is mandatory to have winter tires during December until March on private cars and tires with studs must be switched to summer tires by early to mid April depending on local road conditions.

Incredible heat wave for the next 10 days here. Temps between 35 and 40c with high dew points. We haven't had a stretch like this since 1956 in NY.
That's triple digit heat and 70+ degree dew points for those of you in the states.

ATM we have a thunderstorm rumbling around so it's cooled off some BUT it's a heat-driven storm. Once it's gone the sun will come out and that's when you see the steam coming up from the ground making it miserable.
Had that yesterday, it's nothing you ever get used to.

Oh my gosh Bones, the only thing I could possibly compare your kind of heat and humidity to is the last time that I visited a rain forest. Man talk about hot and humid.........you couldn't catch your breath for the intense heat.

Yep - That's about it here. If we only had a max of 35c here that would be nice but temps exceeding 40c at the hottest time of the year are normal. Combine that with all the gulf moisture that heads up your way during this and it's a steam bath at times.
ATM it's overcast and it's actually kinda cool but that normally means a storm is building which leads to humidity once gone - If not then I'll take it and be happy.

Winter is early here this year. We've had snow on the ground for the last 4 nights now. Thursday there was 2 inches. Been doing 60 hour weeks for two weeks now. A little behind on my winter prep. Company has almost doubled in size for the white season in the last two years. Still only 3 1/2 fleet guys here. Won't be getting any help soon I'm afraid. I'm tired. Getting too old for this crap. Guys break shit here like it's their job.

Didn't go out today. 50MPH wind gusts, cold and rainy. We had some snow showers for the first time. Tomorrow I'm gonna prep the snow blower. The lake is starting to look mean again. And yeah Scottie................I know, I'm feeling it in my bones.

i know the feeling scotty, im already there, weve had pretty much 3 weeks of rain here, a few days here n there with spring temps around the 26-28c mark, its 16c outside now, cold wet windy bastard days the bones dont like it at all, where it should be this time of the year heading up near the 30c mark everyday, the west got some rain but no where near enough to break the drought and the food prices tell the story too

Fellas, I have plenty of years to go and suffer only mild aches and pains in comparison to some of you guys. But believe me I'm no spring chicken myself anymore. The suspension business is rough.
@mr.Scott Our 20 year old already has 7 points of 9. Played no call no show Yesterday. He's caught a lot of flak for many minor mistakes and at least one good major one. He didn't oil the bearings on the left rear drive bearings after the wheel seal service. Nor did he top off the diff. Needless to say he wiped out the spindle along with bearing races and hub. Luckily we had a junker with a good axle we had to swap cause of him. And you'd think at 18 bucks an hour, he'd be able to follow the PM sheet and actually load test the damn batteries. Most kids think a service is just an oil change and grease the chassis.
Poor kid just bought a nice Chevy diesel 1500 @ 400$ a month. Luckily he lives with mommy and daddy. Suspended Monday IF he shows up, more likely to be fired cause I put money he doesn't show.

Jon, I had a 19 year old kid working for me when I was back at Buick. He was supposed to do an oil change, tire rotation and just general inspection of the vehicle. He didn't change the oil and said he did(stupid)and left the lugs loose after a supposed tire rotation. Tech was too busy at the time to double check the kids work and they released the car to the customer. 5 minutes later the customer comes back..................without the car. Lost the wheels at Route 83 and Grand Avenue. Yeah, we fired the kid. Customer got a new car. Today's youth scares me.

The guy before him was late 20s. one of our other techs moved in with this guy. I advised against it. just so happens they found the guy dead face down in bed. lets say that Cocaine and 350lb dudes dont mix. Heart failure. These kids scare me too. I carry a weapon for good reason.

Jon, guys here don't even know what grease is. I swear to god it's been years since any of this stuff saw lubrication before I came. Help is tough to find. I've had a $16 an hour entry level position open for more than a year. Nobody wants to work anymore.

We started ours at 18$ an hour. He has no interest in actually learning. We ve been short 2 techs for years and as we grow, keeping up is really difficult. 80+ tractors and 250 trailers. In short we have at least 4 downed tractors at a time.

How... How do you get into a service bay not knowing what grease is? Just because a lot of vehicles have sealed bearings and whatnot doesn't mean you can't be oblivious to such things... The story about loosening wheel lug nuts and then walking away... That just boggles the mind. But then again, I'm constantly running into people who will vehemently tell me an automatic transmission is way better than a standard, without any justification behind such... (is it more convenient for the average person? Yup! Will it let you get out of a slippery situation in the winter? Depends on how bad the ice/slush is, and if you can forcibly select a gear, but probably not, or at least nowhere near as easily as a standard would. Will it let you win race day? Nope. Slow shifting and slow reactions by the transmission will screw you over in most forms of racing other than drag racing)... So sad I have to use "theft deterrent" and "so none of you touch my car" as reasons behind such a choice.. ... Well, when I had a car anyways. Man do I miss having a vehicle.

I drive my 3 speed automatic in my El Camino like a manual. The modified rear end is such a steep gear that at 20 miles an hour, itll want to shift to third while being easy on it. The converter doesnt like it one bit though.
My late 2000 lincoln ls could start in 3rd gear for slippery conditions. Fun fact about the car, eing sporty as it was, had rubber u-joints. Had all kinds of stability control including a yaw control system. The only draw back to that car is it was a v6 and not v8 model.
In chicago traffic, a stick shift is killer on the left leg lol.

You got that right Jon. Especially if it's not a hydraulic clutch. My 60 year old knees can no longer handle a clutch. But man there was a time when I was a young guy when I didn't want anything other than a manual trans with a good stiff performance clutch. I had a mustang like that. No one but me could drive that sucker. Couldn't do it today. Now I need to be cruising along in a posh Cadillac. ROFLMAO.

I'd love to have a Cadi again. So miss that big torque 425 cui. Mine was a 77 coupe de'ville. Turn the steering with your pinky finger. Probably the most comfortable vehicle I've ever driven to be honest. And never had an issue in the snow. Even the blizzard of 99, drove right through it all. Never got stuck. Dang thing was too heavy lol.

I miss my 1976 Cadillac Coupe De Ville. Quiet, powerful, comfortable cruiser. Now that was a car. (Just call me Mr. Pimp LOL) This is what I'm talkin' about:
Edit: You're right about winter driving with those too Jon. Mine never, ever got stuck not even during the winter of 1979. The problem was that everyone else got stuck and I couldn't get around them.
