I even tried leaving the white cover off and just putting the CPU in the socket still no go I might take this old 939 mobo I got and take one of those pins out (they can be pulled out) and see if I can replace them maybe that will fix it if not oh well I plan on getting a different mobo now that will run all these CPUs no prob

They can be pulled out but they are soldered to the board under the socket they will never make proper contact once pulled out.

Sorry to hear the chip didn't solve it but now you know what to do. If scrapping the board I'd salvage what I could from it, I'd definitely grab it's BIOS chip and stash it somewhere.

I dont plan to throw it out but if I do Im stripping the bios chip and pulling all those pins outta the socket since they are gold and all that but since it still posts with phenom IIs I plan to keep it until I find a new one or keep it as a crap spare and not strip it I could always try some phenom quads to unlock since they work in this board when nothing else will LOL edit might look for crosshair iv formula or maybe a DFI lanparty DK seen one of each on ebay at decent prices

pete and i were lookin at the pic shady, the problem is where the plastic rail or support part is bent back when the cpu goes into the socket with the socket top fitted the cpu is lifted up which allows it to slide when the lock down lever is secured, when theres no top on the cpu socket the cpu cant slide coz the pins go down too far, that bent part if you could manage to straighten it that gives the socket pin tapers or clamps the chance to make contact with both, its not getting contact with both sided of the pin tapers or clamp things, so when you lock the lock down lever the cpu slides and the pin is going past the tapers on that particular pin tapers because of that bent support behind the tapers, thats what i thing is happening, i took a top of a Asrock N68C-S UCC combo board which supports phenom am2+ am3 i got from the tip to have a look in the socket when pete was here, how that support rail for the tapers got bent is strange, for that to be bent like it shows something has got stuck in there somehow coz that rail is plastic, i been tryin to think of something to use to try straighten it , maybe a gem razor blade behind it and slowly , gently push it forward

However a good Crosshair at the right price shoudn't be passed up.

Its all horses for courses for sempron 145 DFI 790FXB-M2RSH or Gigabyte 790X-UD3/4P AM2+ DDR2 boards have the top spots Infrared leading the charge with a frozen NB. Locked multi @ 14x those boards are easy to get a high bus clock. Of course I wouldnt dream of running a 565BE in them or any other unlocked AM3 CPU it would be a 890 or 990 chipset board

Got that right - The DFI's don't have the power phase setup the 890/990's have to support the CPU and it's natural since at the time they were made there wasn't such a requirement, not like it was to support Zambezi/Vishera chips. Best thing with those would be the 890 boards, the 870 chipped board I have tends to clock fairly good on the bus, any and all of my 990 boards so far struggle to get close to what I've hit with this one.
However even with that, for my Sempy's I still wish I had a DFI - For my Sempy and X2 chips.

Black socket will run all FX. White only runs limited FX, the small ones. Doesn't really matter though. You will want to run FX in a 990 board.

Crosshair or Sabertooth are pretty much the only choices for 990 FX benching.

Best board I've ever owned, Gig 890FXA-UD5 black socket. I had a UD7 for the longest time (bought from Buckeye back in the day), had a lot of dust on it so while cleaning out I sold it for $120 with a 955 non-BE. it was a great board... huge bugger too, I could never find a case for it. Added to the reason of selling it. Vin
