350$. No mods for minecraft, basic straight up? Cause if mods are involved double your budget. Explain? Don't know anything about Minecraft. It's one of the biggest modded games out there. It's resource hungry, probably 32gb of memory if they want to stream and all that the kids do these days. That's why I'm asking. Can get away with 16gb. Just don't know how heavy the Minecraft gamer is or will be later.

To put it into perspective, Minecraft on my Xbox 1 no mods is choppy and laggy as all hell. Even with a single player. That's FX architecture.

Hmmmm.... I'm guessing this will be Ryzen based. If not just ignore. For something cheap(er) I can suggest a Ryzen 2600 (Non-X) minimum due to the requirements, 32GB's of RAM and a decent board like a B450 board, this or something similar to it. www.newegg.com/msi-b450-tomahawk-max/p/N82E16813144267Has a decent VRM phase count, I don't suggest bare-budget boards with basic VRM setups for obvious reasons. Concerning CPUs, for a higher core count you know the deal already and they do help but ATM anything with at least 8 cores is fine.... But you can go for more if you want and I would if possible. A later gen Ryzen too if possible but what I suggested will get it done at least. I've pointed out before ASRock for DDR4 isn't great because they just can't seem to run higher RAM speeds if you want them to but MSI boards can. Sticks like these www.newegg.com/patriot-16gb-288-pin-ddr4-sdram/p/N82E16820225198 will provide plenty of RAM, they say 16GB's is enough but that's based on today's standards. I always build for the long haul so I do suggest 32GB's instead, plus it can't hurt to have the extra RAM available anyway. If wanting some G. Skills, ATM you'll be paying more of course and the timings/specs won't be as good but Patriot as you know is good stuff too. It's no secret to stay away from Corsair, esp the Vengeance line with Ryzen. I know there is cheaper out there too but at the same time you can go too cheap and regret it, only having to spend more to "Correct" all the shortcomings the cheaper build has. Anyone else have ideas? Maybe we can provide a decent list of options to choose from and comprise something special and cheap here.

I really like this build. Almost hard to believe that squeezes into 350$!!! All I know, is the 12400F I used on the B660-I with all core 4ghz pinned, it's a little monster cpu. Even without bclk.

16GB of mem would be fine. that's what my son has and he runs a shit ton of mods on one of his servers.

Looking through my stuff, I have a basically new ( < 1 year old, less than 3 months usage max) 650W PSU & 1TB SSD with your name on it. If you need either or both, shoot me a PM.

Not knowing if the build is already made, but maybe some of the components I put might give some ideas.
Should run Minecraft nicely. Yes, the younger played minecraft, but that was already a while ago, with a setup of that time. AIO stuff I have no experience of.
Runs silent as whisper, housed in a ATX size case.

Not built yet. Still in the thought process. Question: Would a 1660 Super be an adequate GPU for this?

^For minecraft yes IMO and a bit more leverage too. But that eats a lot of the build budget.

Not built yet. Still in the thought process. Question: Would a 1660 Super be an adequate GPU for this? Definitely. Minecraft is very CPU- and RAM-bound. More so quantity for RAM rather than speed, especially if it's modded. Any decent mid-range GPU should do well.

This all depends on the texture packs and chunk render distance for the gpu.
I could fire up the kids rig, he has Minecraft PC, but no mods installed yet.
It's the 4th and LAST copy of minecraft I'm ever gonna buy. Must purchase for every single fucking platform. Xbox 2 phones and now the pc. Done.

Cool. I can get a brand new 1660 Super for about 200 bucks. Ideally, for board, CPU, ram, GPU, I'd like to spend about 700 bucks or less if possible.

Mr.Scott, you have a PM sir. The 12400 setup listed above would be pretty good. A Ryzen 2600 or 3600 would also be a fantastic pick. Or even an older i5 / DDR4 setup. Really anything modern with 4+ cores and HT / SMT will do the job just fine even heavily modded Minecraft. 16GB of RAM will be plenty. Definitely put Minecraft on a SSD, it helps a TON with the chunk loading. Unless its a purposely built system with certain specs in mind, I'd honestly say find a used setup as there's tons of good deals to be had. I just picked up a Ryzen 2600x for $80 on ebay a few weeks ago, and you can find B350 boards for as cheap as like $30-40.

Went with a 12600 and a Gigabyte B660 wifi board, and 16 gig of 3600 Cl16.
