If I get in trouble, I will be in touch for sure. You're the man. Considering Legit Cards have a 99% success rate of having a flash work(with all info requested), and about 60-70% of fake cards do (some are just so buggered up) They're definitely legit RX 580 8GB cards, I bought em all new in 2017 from either Amazon or newegg. I believe Mr.Scott is getting my newegg card.

Heck, even just post it here I don't care. I'll bust out the FX rig later today perhaps and see if I can't flash all of these properly. I do kind of like with the Asus cards that the overclock is set on the BIOS though, but at this point I don't even care since I have so many other cards anyway. I still have to pop power control up to +50% on them in Radeon settings anyway since I have a 100w TDP set on them, so I guess having the overclocks set really isn't a huge deal anymore. I'd just REALLY like to have the issue of these cards not working right on B350 / B450 boards resolved, if its even possible. I could look into flashing the board's BIOS's too, however given the variety of CPU's I have on hand for them I really feel like its a "if its not broke, don't fix it" kind of thing there. I do know that some of the ASRock BIOS's for my boards don't support certain processors.

Start with pics of white stickers of the part number/model of gpu, then a gpu-z Screenshot of the first page, then go to Advanced tab and click general and change to memory timings screenshot it. There is another area in gpu-z where it shows the part number in the bios itself. About mobo bios, AsRock Specifies what generation of Am4 cpus the bios support, i just know that some files remove gen1/1.5 zen 4 cpus due to the eerprom size limit. Do your research on the mobo bios for sure Many 580s have had bios updates since then, funny enough sometimes installing another with the same release date code has fixed them. Kiddo's rig is finally back up and running. Doing some benchmarks on it because its got MY shiny new toy in it. But that's okay, he can play on it. It was "final" before, except the GPU, but then my clumsy hands got ahold of it again and bent pins on the CPU, and SOMEHOW his RAM sticks had died on it. I forget if I posted about that or not. But anyway, its back to life with a huge thank you and shoutout to a buddy of mine at another forum. Scored a Vega 64 for it from him, and he even threw in some DDR4 that I desperately needed while kiddo's stuff is getting sent out for RMA as soon as Corsair approves it. Specs (final now): - Ryzen 2600x
- ASRock B450m-Pro4
- 2x8GB Crucial Ballistix DDR4-3200 (old set were Corsair Vengance, same speed and timings)
- Powercolor RX Vega64 8GB reference (Had GTX 970 in it before as temporary)
- EVGA 650GT Gold+ PSU
- 1TB NVME Gen3 (OS / fast storage)
- 4x1TB Crucial BX500 SSD RAID0
- Toys of course, stuffed all inside the case (not pictured). One for every one of his earliest "obsessions".
Rig runs absolutely fantastically now (again). I'm going to have to be careful to never remove CPU's from Ryzen boards again thanks to my butterfingers. Don't remove it if you care about it pio...... I just need to put the toys back in there, install the cable combs for the second 8 pin, and make sure its got all of the games he wants on there, and its going back in his room.

There's a hwbot competition going on right now, so unless its for the competition, I'm honestly not all that bothered by swapping hardware around in and out of rigs at the current time. Well....other than my normal "building". Between the hwbot comp, my projects, and kiddo just starting school today, I'm exhausted. -_-

I didn't catch it since he was in a hurry to have his rig back, so it was only on the bench for one evening. Random problems POST'ing, losing settings, and random shut downs once in while in Windows. Sigh, I probably SHOULD have kept the board I bought for it instead of trying to reuse the one that was in it. Whatever. I'd imagine the CPU is fine, it passed all stability testing I threw at it. The GPU is most certainly fine. RAM, I've tried 2 different kits now. It's got to be the stupid board. On another note, I'm still currently paused on my builds for a little while due to the hwbot comp. I also have a review that's due in about 3 weeks I have to get finished first too. So hopefully starting next month I'll be able to start finishing these old builds. Still have stuff I need to buy for them, but overall not too bad. Like $200-300 worth of old junk and hopefully these will all be working with the exception of a K5 since I have nothing for it yet.

The Ry7 5800 OEM build I did 9.75 mo ago has a B550 Steel Legend which has a Debug LED display, so if it ever fails to post I will know. Asus on TUF boards or even some of their ROG boards dont have it. I also turned off wifi as I use ethernet for desktops only.

I'm sure there is one out there, but generally all boards have it.

I actually don't have a speaker installed on that rig. Not a bad idea, I could do that and see what the diagnostic beeps are I suppose. It only does it sometimes. Not even sure if it will beep, its just a non POST. Keyboard doesn't even get power when it happens. Still haven't pinpointed why it just randomly shuts off either while still powered on (no display, no keyboard, but fans still on). I'm assuming its the same phenomenon, just no clue what's causing it. I don't think it's the GPU or the CPU as both seem to pass stress tests fine. RAM was brand new (again). I do have another kit I could throw in there now, but I don't see how Crucial Ballistix (Micron) would have a problem on a B450. Every other fully built rig I have completed so far has been functioning beautifully still though, with the exception of every AGP video card in the house. Which those are on my list of things to get fixed.

Kind of an update / kind of not. I have to rebuild my main rig this week. I'm not allowed to post it here when I do, so my apologies in advance on that. I'll have to check later on about the legalities, maybe I can after some time has passed or something, maybe it's fine after the article is done, I dunno. I'm kind of excited for that though, I've got some very unique plans laid out for that one. Once that's done and out of the way, getting the older systems running will be next up on my priorities list again. I do have kiddo's birthday and Christmas both coming up now. So much for having all of my rigs done by April of this year for my birthday. *shrugs I haven't forgotten about kiddo's board either. Honestly, that's probably going to be "next" after my main rig update, as that'd be something I can easily diagnose with having time on hand. And a replacement mobo, if necessary, I can probably handle while still doing presents for kiddo. So my new goal here is to have kiddo's rig 100% fixed from my screw up before end of the year. And I'm hoping to have the rest of them 100% by let's say April next year. I have been having a blast on the hwbot comp too. Congrats to you guys btw! Looks like 4th place as of right now? Wooohooo!!!! Seriously, great job! I knew you guys would kick my team's butt, glad you did. That's been kind of my hold up the last few months on my actual projects; been having to buy stupid little oddball bits of hardware here and there so I could do all the subs I said I'd do. Now that that's over, I can spend the time required to finish what I started 2 years ago. And I also wanted to say THANK YOU to everyone here at Warp9 for being so welcoming and warm. I'd hang out here more often, but honestly I feel like I just don't have enough to bring to the table here yet. I'm working on that though......

I was supposed to have these builds all done by April, and I'm already 6 months behind schedule. -_- It might not matter to everyone else, but it does to me. Idiots over at an OLD forum I used to frequent used to say that I never followed through with anything (which was partially correct and partially not). Stuff happens, you know? I'd get big plans, but then financially I couldn't follow through with something or life would get in the way, whatever. Well, not this time. I swore I'd have one full rig of every generation (to my specs), and I'm GOING to. Why? Because F everybody else, that's what I wanted to do. That's kinda why I'm "selling myself short", I feel really bummed out that I'm so far behind on these still 6 months AFTER my deadline I set for myself. I don't have a whole lot left, just a short list of stuff I need to pickup. But dang if stuff just isn't working, or my build plans changed slightly, or the stupid Russian I bought the K6 from screwed me....just a number of issues keep popping up. There's been some HUGE helpers along the way though too, Somebody from here sent me a box of goodies not too long ago. Someone else helped out a TON with some recaps..... A forum member elsewhere hooked me UP with the Vega64 and 5700XT. So its not been ALL bad. Honestly at this point if I could just buy a full working K6 build to my specs, and the latter Socket A AthlonXP.....I'd be happy just doing that at this point because of the hassle those 2 have given me. I don't even know if I want to do a K5 anymore after these 2. And don't even get me started on the costs of finishing my AM4 5800x, or NOW AM5 build that is obligatory for me to build since I've already started this trend........

Whats wrong with your K6? I have a GA-5AX board here you are welcome to it. No clue yet 100% for sure. The case that it came in, the pictures were taken in such angles that I couldn't tell the case was all banged up to the point I don't even want to use it (going for "pretty" builds and this case is in bad bad BAD shape). The board looks like it needs re-capped, but supposedly it worked. It's not worth repairing though either, some junk ALi chipset board I think it was, might've been SiS. GPU was destroyed when I pulled it out, the gold on the contacts peeled right off. PSU is questionable, haven't opened that up yet. Only has 32MB of RAM, which that's not a huge deal, whatever there. It's just overall a mess I'm not ready to jump into yet since I've already been having so many issues getting ANY of the AGP cards working, especially the Socket A Athlon XP. Freaking picky boards wanting specific PSU's lol. I honestly can't even fire up the K6 due to missing a keyboard and mouse that'll work on it. That was my own mistake though, thinking I could use USB stuff everywhere. Missing blank CD's and DVD's so I can create bootable media for it since I doubt it'll boot off USB since it doesn't even have USB. Just a lot of minor stupid things really to be honest. My apologies, I wasn't trying to cyber-beg or anything. Was more of a rant than anything above because I'm so overwhelmed by all of these builds, and them not coming together like I had hoped in the timeframe I wanted. I had set a goal, and I intended to meet that goal. And it just kinda sucks when you don't meet goals that you set for yourself.

Whatever you need, we've probrably got it. My offer stands as well for one of my A7N8X boards if you'd want one. Don't have any spare chips anymore since I gave those away earlier to Shrimpy and what DDR I have I need to keep but the board is a different story.
Let us know and we'll fix you up, however you wanna go.

No worries the offer still stands just let me know anytime. Not going to lie man, your offer is very tempting. It'd be a heck of a lot easier finding an ATX case and ATX PSU that's functional for a K6 over the AT stuff my current one is setup for. The added USB ports would probably also prove to be very useful. I might just take you up on that offer, if you SERIOUSLY don't mind losing it. That's a pretty nice piece. My existing K6 board is an EP-MVP3C2, which according to what I can read on it, its supposed to be "mini ATX". But its in an AT case though with an AT PSU. Sooooo *shrugs I'll message you on payday about it if you're serious. I don't want to take something that you actually intend on using again sometime, I know how hard this stuff is to find lol. Hey, if we go that route, my existing EPox board would probably be a perfect fit for a K5 though, if I still wanted to go down that rabbit hole later on. With all the issues though on these super old rigs, I might skip K5 still lol. K6 is capable of doing DOS and Win95 too. The K6 build, I'm pretty much missing everything since the fully built rig I bought really didn't pan out at all. I'm going to guess and say I have a CPU, GPU, and enough RAM to get it working (but not the "right" 256MB). I think I have a sound card for it too. Maybe, MAYBE a LAN card but I'd have to check. Definitely missing drives for it too since all of the ones I bought for it didn't work, but that's all easy stuff. Definitely missing a case too, so I'll have to keep my eyes peeled for a nicer beige box too on that one. So yeah, looks like case, PSU, and drives really is all I'm missing to make it turn on at least. Which motherboard, does kind of affect the case and PSU options. @the Socket A stuff: Honestly my boards SHOULD be working. I had a reputable source recap them recently. If I recall correctly, I was having HDD recognition issues on it, and I think I had determined that it was the IDE to SATA adapters I had used. I might just need drives for it perhaps. The board I'm trying to use is a supposedly good board, A7N8X. Also have an A7V something KT333 chipset board I think. I am lacking the "right" CPU for it, but I think I have 3 Socket A CPU's on hand, one of them should work. I do still need a PSU for it (and the K6). I have ONE in hand that might prove workable, I need to crack that open still and inspect caps first. I've been holding off on attempting to finish the Socket A rig again until I ironed out those issues and getting all of my AGP cards refreshed. The 9800XT, I'm not sure how that one can be fixed, the screws are all completely rounded on it. -_- But yeah, that's on my list of things for the old rigs, the AGP cards ALL need to be repasted and repadded. 70*C+ idling isn't good. Once I get those GPU's all figured out, I'd be more comfortable trying to mess with the systems again. I don't want to damage a $180 Radeon 9800XT for example, or whatever I paid for the stupid thing. Or an $80 X850. I think the X1950Pro I scored cheap though, but still. The goal here is hardware sanctuary, not hardware graveyard afterall. I have a Socket 754 rig sitting here too that's also in pieces waiting for the AGP cards to get fixed too. I forgot about that one, go figure. I think its also missing some minor stuff too, drives I think and an add on card or two. Probably missing the same things on the Socket A too, but I don't know. Honestly, I probably need to take inventory AGAIN. I did this once and made a list of everything I was missing. It didn't seem like THAT much last time I had checked.

I should have LAN and sound cards here also. You need to make a list.

I cant say for the GA-5AX until I get it out but I know with the GA-5AA you can run either PSU it has 2 separate Power Supply headers on it

Ok here is a pic of the motherboard and I will throw in a CPU too a K6-3+ 450 it will run at 600 Mhz all day everyday with the + Cpu's you set the multi to 2x and the chip interperates it as 6x its the chip bottom row second from left. Can run XP nicely. You cant have the ones at the bottom right they are dated 2003 and are keepers. I will set it up and test this arvo. Do you need ram too? I am sure I have sticks there that will suit nicely.

I am sure I have sticks there that will suit nicely. I have a single stick of some sort of SD-RAM, no clue what it is. Probably 32 or 64MB is my guess, whatever came in the Russia Rig. Literally the ONLY stick of SD-RAM I even have. Got tons of other RAM laying around, so the rest aren't really a problem. I have spares DDR, DDR2, DDR3, and DDR4. So yeah, that's on my list. Enough to be a badass 98SE build, or maybe a 95 build. I might leave the 1100 T Bird as a 98 build to be honest, if I'm skipping K5. But let's say a 98SE build to be safe (so around 256MB probably). I do have a K6-2 500 sitting on my Epox AT board right now, or at least that's what it was supposed to be. I haven't pulled that system apart to look because I was so mad about it lol. I did pull the drives out of it, they didn't work so yeah. I'll make a list again this week some time. I have a project on a deadline, I have till the 26th to finish. Once that's all caught up, I'll have nothing but time to attend to the rest of this junk. I know there's still plenty of oddball things here and there that's missing, but I think I'm mostly waiting on the GPU's to get fixed up, drives, and CF Cards. Definitely a case and PSU for the K6, but I "should" at least have a single ATX laying around somewhere that "should" power something up to make sure things work at least. Wifi cards, LAN cards, and 98-95 era sound cards I'm probably missing, but again, I'll have to go looking again. I don't want to say I'm missing something and find it in a box somewhere. So yeah, I'll go through inventory again and make another list. It hasn't changed a whole heck of a lot since the last list I posted, I know that.

Ok testing done its a Rev:4.1 Board the rev:3 wouldnt post. The cooler is only just sitting on it and you will notice there is a backing plate on the bench next to it. Its all yours I will put 4 sticks of ram in with it. Board, CPU, Ram. Unless you would like Baby AT then I would have to test the Asus P5A-B

Its all yours I will put 4 sticks of ram in with it. Board, CPU, Ram. Unless you would like Baby AT then I would have to test the Asus P5A-B You are absolutely awesome! Yeah, a proper ATX Socket 7 board and a few more sticks of SD-RAM would definitely go a long ways in getting the K6 going. I'll PM you on payday? I get paid on the 1st and the 3rd of every month, so I'm flat broke till then. I don't even care what your asking price is, consider it sold. Well....I mean I do lol, but I'm sure it'll be something fair. But yeah, if you're serious and don't mind it, I will absolutely love it and give it a good forever home. That's a HECK of a lot better board than this Epox is with swollen caps and 2" of Russian dirt on it. Again, seriously, I don't want to take a board that you have any sort of attachment to. Because I'm going to probably keep all this stuff till the day I die now after putting in so much effort the last 2 years doing all these projects. My future ex wife is going to LOVE me....... Shoot, with a decent board its really only going to be piddly little things that I'll have left to do on the K6 (except case and PSU), Athlon-XP, and I think i'm short one big HDD for the Ryzen 1400 rig (not a big deal). Of course the AGP cards need repaired, but I've got like 3 different people saying they'd fix those, so that's easy enough to handle. So yeah, all mostly minor little things, nothing that'll stop them from working. Honestly, I might be nearing the home stretch FINALLY then now that I really think about it. I said that before, but it might be just about close enough timing. Maybe by the beginning of 2023 these will all be 100% completed (after Christmas). That'd be sweet! Then I can start focusing on paying all the credit lines back down that I piled up on buying old junk..... Eventually, once the housing market bounces back into a buyer's market in the budget ranges I can actually afford again, I'd like to put all of these rigs on display in their own room, or in the garage or something. Eventual goal there.
