So are you wanting this mod is to get higher FSB. PLL mods are for lowering your Coldbug to get the chip to run colder like below -130c nothing else just like they are wanting in that thread. I am impressed you are going to run nitrogen on it. Tagg had a PLL mod somewhere for Rampage Extreme and as far as I remember it was exactly the same as what is described in that thread Nah not gonna run ln2 on it but i just wanna see if those evga forums are right and running 1.35-1.5v pll helps with bclk Apparently theres also an issue where p6t cant lock max multi for full load so i wanna know if p6x58d bios is affected and apparently you can fix with a crossflash to p6t6 ws pro, theres even a mod bios with p6x58d bios combined with p6t6 ws pro bios

Ok I cant find a Boardview for P6T Deluxe only P6T so I cant guarantee its going to be the same. Make sure your board looks the same as in the picture. In the diagram below you want to lift pin 10 of PU500 marked in red and solder the middle leg of a 2K trimmer to it one outer leg of the trimmer should be soldered to 3.3v the other outer leg should be soldered to ground. When its all done plug the 24 pin in with no CPU and power the board on measure the voltage at the drain of PQ405 that I have circled in green I would set it at 1.8v to start once you are satisfied its working put the CPU in and away you go. YOU DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RESPONSIBILITY I AM ONLY SHOWING YOU WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE.

Ok I signed up but it wont let me download the file. You try and see how you go. No luck Maybe ill go compare p6t boardview to p6t deluxe v2 and see if i can figure out a voltmod Or i can just go screw it mode and see if any of the 3 as324 are linked to cpu pll But prob both

Here is the internal circuit of the AS324 or LM324 they are the same thing as you can see they are 4 identical op amps they amplify more than 1 circuit so you have to know which pin you are going to lift it could be any of the 4 like REX was pin 5 P6T was pin 10 the deluxe could be either or one of the other 2 circuits

Also might aswell know read point for things like vtt incase i screw something up and end up screwing around with that volt

QPI and IOH PLL even the Rampage III Extreme dont have those settings in Bios. PLL is sent to the CPU as well as the NB. There is a 1.5v PLL on one of the other sections of the chip it could do SB and is probably a fixed voltage. Adjusting voltage for the SB doesnt usually do anything for Overclocking except introduce instability.
Lets just stick to one mod at a time I would like to know what your method will be for lifting this one pin of the IC? I am doubtful that without an amount of soldering experience that you will be even capable of doing this mod. Not many on this forum would be willing to attempt this.

Welp when i get a new soldering iron cause i ruined my current one with plastic along with a multimeter, trimpots, and maybe even extra wires if my wires are inadequate then sure ill just yolo it, but ofc gonna practice on a dead board first cause id rather not kill this crippled p6t deluxe But i think its gonna take awhile since after i get my ghetto waterloop done ill go buy rams and oc the balls off them, then after that an upgrade to the ghetto loop, then after that i may screw around with voltmod I do have a couple of dead giga boards so maybe you can have a look at sb and nb voltmod for giga es2c aand es2l cause i wont be fixing those for a long time and i have that 542fsb s2c still that i wanna crank even higher, maybe even 600fsb on g31? Cause g33 record is at almost 600fsb

Yk i have a giga ep45 ds4p right? Though p5q is pretty good for cranking ram speed since i get to near 1500mhz with 7-9-9-10 at 2.2v, i did my extreem dark to 1520 7-9-6-10 with rubbish secondaries at 2.34v Ill have the ghetto waterloop made pretty soon so maybe ill have a chance by clocking the balls off my poor cpu

Must agree - You'll never know how well you stack up vs the rest unless you go for it and you'll find yourself discovering ways to be competitive.... Which means in turn you'll become better at tweaking. Nothing but "Win" if you do at this point in your OC'ing adventures regardless of where you wind up in the comp.

Btw does it come with a certificate of some sort? Cause i might be able to convince my mom to dump a lil money in this comp if i can get a certificate since i can use it for school (specifically as an acheivement that i can use to help get accepted in senior high school), though some dudes running freaking phase change and ln2 so i doubt i can beat those but damn it ill try anyway cause ill have enough cooling to clock my cpus high

No, what's done at the bot is a hobby so there are no certificates of anything to be had. Also, don't be put off by guys on Ln2 and such - The objective is simply to do the best you can with the means at your disposal. Just remember those guys had to start off as you are doing now and we had to start off the same way ourselves. Takes time, patience and dedication to acheive the things they've managed to do and I can say that because I currently hold the WR for the highest CPU frequency ever ran for a benchmark result hwbot.org/submission/4740676_bones_superpi___1m_fx_8320_9sec_141ms, not just for a CPU speed validation yet I too started off running on stock air years ago myself. The hill may be steep but you'll never get anywhere unless you start climbing.

Actually ive found a deal on a giga ud5 for 60$ w an i7 920 and it seems like it has been there for awhile, prob not selling cause giga boards just having a bad rep and ludicrous shipping costs so maybe i can try bargaining and get for ~45-50$, in that case i might sell off my board and cpu for 30$ ish and swap for a ud5 since that has a proper bios with qpi pll and proper pll ranges that go as low as 1.3v
Though if i cant get a decent deal ill just attempt vpll mod on this board since ill run it to the ground anyways

which series of UD5? there was the GA-EX58-UD5 and X58A-UD5 (v1.0, v2.0). I have a v1.0 of the X58A-UD5. was a great benching board till she didn't want too anymore... still works, but I can't touch the FSB. the moment I do she won't boot. clr cmos and shes fine... the only thing I can change is the memory ratio.. I can't touch the ram timings or anything... such an odd failure...
used it as a home server for 5 years with an I7-980x... just retired her this year...

Vin Ex58 ud5 Usually you can fix board issues if you go clean it, personally i just dunk/spray 99% IPA and itll be fine but for broken boards i fully discharge them then shove em in a water bucket to clean them and it has worked once

Btw can anyone make nb + sb voltmod for g31m (e)s2c/l? Cause i did post the boardview for g31m es2c and i have some dead es2c/l that i can use for practice elektrotanya.com/gigabyte_ga-g31m-es2c_rev_1.12_sch.pdf/download.htmlHeres a link to a file you can download now and not have to do login garbage, not exactly a boardview but it seems to contain circuit diagrams and how they work, i can take pics of certain areas on the board if needed For a boardview i guess thats just find some forum with the least annoying signup and just search g31m es2c boardview

Having the circuit diagram is good but you need the boardview so we know where the parts are on the board the controller probably isnt right next to the southbridge with a big sign on it saying I am here.
If you want soldering practice get a dead board and solder wires to chip resistors near the CPU VRM controller. Use an old 80pin IDE cable for wire you can strip away one strand at a time its ideal for voltmods.
Why is it that people who know nothing think this is easy it took me an hour or two to look up that PLL mod but it wasnt the same as your board.

Why is it that people who know nothing think this is easy it took me an hour or two to look up that PLL mod but it wasnt the same as your board. After looking at some circuit diagrams in the service manual that i linked vtt gmch seems to be the volt im looking to mod, looking at the circuit it mentions lm324 and there are 2 of those on the top right near the ram slots, and i thought it was that volt control chip near the sb, for the lm324 it mentions pin 5 and 6 so if i attatch an external volt to that would that mean i can raise mch volt? For sb the circuit of interest is 3VDUAL as it seems like that is connected to ich volt though i have no idea how to mod it when the circuit looks like it has no volt controller Another interesting circuit is the clockgen ck505 on page 21, it mentions pcie clock comes from pin 17 and 18 of the rtm 875t 587 clock gen, i think ill need higher pcie than 195 if i manage to get past 542 fsb so i wonder if i can hook up an external clockgen to crank the pcie clock higher than 195 like those old turbo pll mods Also how to i vmod the nb and cpu gtls?

Ok find what mosfet gate that pin 7 of the LM324 connects to yes pin 5 would be the one that you connect an external voltage to if it is VTT. Pin 7 is the output pin 5 is a positive input I suggest you have a go at lifting pin 5 off its pad on a dead board too its not as easy as just putting a soldering iron on it.
Tip for PCIe just take the PCIe card out and run a PCI card in a PCI slot an old Trident S3 will do nicely then PCIe is negated completely.
Voltages for the southbridge are not really needed when you overclock you dont overclock the Southbridge it runs at the same frequency all the time no matter what you are doing with the FSB if you are loosing sata connection its the MCH that is over the limit and not communicating.
No one really ever changes the SB volt on boards that have the option it usually just brings instability.
That does change on boards that have no NB but not on 775.
GTL (Gunner Tranciever Logic) explain to me what it does and works you should have an understanding of what it is if you want to modify it.
Its alright to make mods but if you dont know what they are doing you will never be any good with them.

"Gunning transceiver logic (GTL) is a type of logic signaling used to drive electronic backplane buses" so i guess thats why ive never seen gtls on newer platfoms and only 775, though does that mean x58 have gtl volts? Cause my board doesnt have any gtl volt. "As of 2008, GTL in these FSBs has a maximum frequency of 1.6 GHz" which means gtl is a frequency? I guess gtl is the freq of tranceiver logic the nb/cpu uses but idk the terminology, though why is it that gtl is shown as a volt rather than a freq? Whats a trident s3? I cant really seem to find any pci gpus cause its just garbage agp gpus or pcie gpus Sb volt can help in my experience but i usually just max it out cause why not, usually doesnt even impact stability Lifting pins wise id assume just use solder wick to get rid of the solder, lift pin with tweezers, then resolder all the other pins

Also i have another question, after i get home and finish my ghetto waterloop i do need my x58 bench ready so i can show a performance increase since im gonna make yt content off it, i think ill buy 3/4 1gb sticks for triple channel (4th stick so easier to sell when im done), bench settings wise upto 1.55v vtt and 2v dram but daily settings 1.4-1.45v vtt and 1.9-2v dram
Now im mainly looking at elpida hypers and psc x series for their oc ability, which one would be better at 2v?
2v is also quite limiting so imc degradation wise would it be worse to run 1.7v vtt 2.2v dram or 1.45v vtt 2.4v dram? I can pick up garbage quadcore nehalems/westmeres for 2-3$ which i can abuse

1.7v VTT you are going to learn about CPU degradation after your fist session. I was running a E8500 on nitrogen yesterday and I was only using 1.6v VTT you are definitely going to see degradation or a blowup running 1.7v VTT on X58 with water. 2v would be the limit I would put into either PSC or Hypers. You can look at my E8500 run here. hwbot.org/competition/Challenger%202022%20Div%20VI%20Round%201/

Try it and see but dont expect super performance just beacause you got a water block on it it wont boot at any faster speed than on air. Which is a popular misconception. It will hold the speed together better under load with water without hitting 100c and shutting down but if the max you can boot is say 4.6 with air it wont boot at 4.7 with water.

Isnt that like basic knowledge? I only care about temps so itll oc higher cause my current cooler cant even keep my x5660 at 4g 1.27v Though is over 0.5v gap between dram and imc/vtt volt actually gonna degrade cpu noticably or is that just a stupid myth and i can actually run higher? 0.95 gap is quite extreme so would imc actually degrade from that even if imc volt itself isnt even set anywhere near "dangerous" volts?

Try CPU Vcore 1.56v PLL 1.8v QPI 1.4v can go upto 1.5v will help ram and bus speed. Dram Bus 2v wouldnt be going far over that if you like the sticks.
The rest are do what you like with thm. Run Cinebench R15 and Geekbench to test stability

I dont care too much about the cpu but i atleast dont want it to degrade to complete sht cause i wanna sell this thing off
