Austin for putting on small chip resistors and caps you cant beat it blob a bit on and hit it with the hot air tool and at first it goes dry and crusty then all of a sudden it turns into solder and sucks into where it should be and looks like the part was never touched. that’s what i’m seeing online. i’ll have to pick some up. I wish I knew about it back when I modded a vp6 for dual 1.4ghz P3s. all those tinny resistors were a pain to swap by hand.

Gotta use Flux. Deal with a lot of high resistance circuits at work. Usually bakes wires need a good cleaning and then flux to top it off. So i should still use flux? But how? Just dab it ontop the solder paste? Below? Or clean off the metal on the bios chip with flux beforehand and then solder paste? Also will my existing solid rosin flux work or should i go buy some tubes of more liquid flux and not solid? Btw finally scored a ud3r at 13$ after being a moron and missing 2 opportunities to buy a ud3r, i recently got a lot of 15 775 cpus (8 e8500, 2 e75/400, e7300, e5200, and e4400. Only the e7300 is full dead but the other e7000 chips were revived with some more intensive pad cleaning like using a razor and needle to remove some filth or plaque on the pads) and only just started binning them, im only in the early stages but ive found that 2 e8500 i tested (out of 3) dont wanna work at 500fsb no matter what but my e8400 and 1 e8500 works fine, can the ud3r make these work or no? I do have my p5q to test aswell Also what should i expect out of a ud3r? 540-560 stable seems to be about average for these ds boards but how about the ud boards?

If everything is good you should be able to get to 600 bus pretty easily with a UD3R.
You dont need flux with solder paste it has its own flux.

I should have said solder paste, it has flux in it like Macsbeach was saying. Flux primary purpose is cleaning residue. Little dab will do ya. Same thing with paste. Just a dab. Can even use solder wick which should have flux too. This will extract the solder, just put the tip on the solder you want removed and a little heat. The wick will soak the solder up. UD3R? Like 1366? I have this board. She'll do 600 on a good day, some chilling and a high end chip maybe. My 920 clock like a 930 and is shit compared to a 980 or 980x. Its not about the FSB anyways. You want Triple channel performance at 2000mhz mem speed and the CPU as high frequency as you can get it. 980X 5ghz, unlocked Multi, that's the stuff right there. 920, 930.. maybe expect 4.6 to 4.8ghz top frequency. Won't matter how much FSB you throw at it....

Alright before you try to solder pins to the bios chip and make a fuking mess it wont work the same as your clip wont work if you are clipping it on and putting the other end straight in your programmer and trying to flash a soldered on bios chip it wont work. The clip is not for programming the bios chip directly it is a bios savior when you bought it did you get a bios chip on a small square board you put that in the programmer and flash it to the bios for the board plug it into the clip plug clip it on to the bios chip and boot it disables the bios on the board and the board boots from the chip you have put it into the clip once booted you take it off and flash the bios on the board with the manufacturers recommended way.
Now soldering wires to the bios chip while the chip is soldered to the board is going to fail when flashed too.

But why the hell do the ppl at yt that use this bios clip just plug it directly onto the board and flash? So basically ill have to desolder the thing and rig an sop socket onto the mobo using the old bios chip pads and some wires?

If the board runs why cant you flash it using normal flash methods or if the chip is corrupted use it the way its supposed to. Its one of those CH134 programmers you have got did it even come with any instructions.
What you believe everything you see on YT

What you believe everything you see on YT I wanna play around with crossflashing on mobos with soldered bios And no the ch341a has no instructions at all, just a plastic bag with some adapter boards, test clip, and the thingy itself

I will see if I can find the instructions for the Nano flasher

I can say (At least with my Nano flasher) you can only use it with a 32 bit OS, there are no drivers for it in a 64 bit OS so it doesn't work with those.
Gool 'ol XP is my go-to for use but Win 7 32 bit works too, I actually used it this morning and it flashed the BIOS chip just fine.

Whats nano flasher?
And if i flash via software and it bricks the board ill need a way to remove the bios chip, what kind of equipment do i need to desolder a bios chip?

Doesnt that still require me to desolder? If giga had spi then sure whyd i bother going through all these hoops but nope they dont Also finally got the ud3r, easily boots 620 with the settings i used for booting 620 on my ds4p but how do i go higher? Welp looks like the ud3r is crap, wont boot 650 and 560 isnt even stable, basically only as good as my ds4p, i was expecting better from a ud3r but apparently not
Welp i guess ill just wait for another one to come along and sell this one when i do see another ud board pop up

No its not the board your ram and CPU are probably rubbish especially if both boards are topping out at the same frequency. Or you are not setting it right at the moment I dont have time to pull out a UD3R and play with it.

Try a different multi, that might help. So 6x is not best multi? And yea i do suspect the cpu may be crap, it is just an average bin e8400, though hopefully there will be something decent among those 8 e8500, if not ill just sell em and buy an x5260 Also i may be getting another x58 real soon in the form of an i7 920 + shuttle x58 board (which can apparently oc looking at the bios, might still crossflash it anyways), looking around hwbot it seems that x cpus have absolutely abysmal imcs with the e cpus looking to be half decent and all the w and i7 cpus looking to be the best imc wise, issue with nehalem looks to be needing 2:1 uncore : dram ratio which is annoying and basically caps me at 2200 anyways though is that true or no? Since the i7 920 ram freq record has uncore at 5200 and dram at 3000 Though in an order from shittiest to best imcs what would it be?

You won't be hitting 3000mhz even with running the SINGLE stick of memory. There's no performance unless you run triple channel. I liked the 9x multiplier, low gives more BUS frequency but doesn't mean the CPU is going to magically clock higher. Last time I benched X58 to achieve 5ghz CPU clocks was not on air or liquid but DryIce and Liquid Nitrogen. HWBot, all the top spots and top clocks you see are well beyond your capability. Even mine. You'll never catch them without extreme cooling.

Shrimpy's right.. beyond 2000mhz on memory on an X58 is tough.. To get there isn't bad, it's after that. Need a good combination of gear to surpass that and it has to be in triple channel.
4.8ghs on air is capable is you don't intend on the CPU to live after the session. On water you have a little hope. Beyond 4.8ghz you need some form or extreme cooling.
Here is when I was running my AC unit as a chiller. idle temp was -25c and loaded I topped out at -5c... this is all I could muster
I had "OK" stuff.. the CPU I had beaten on in the past so may had been what was holding me from 4.9ghz. For me, temps were always a big challenge to manage on this platform.

Guess that makes sense since this is crappy first gen imc after all, still though 2200 is slow as a snail :/
Also an update on the e8500s, theyre fking trash, 2/3 of em wont run 4.26 unless theyre given 1.4v vcore, but theres still 2 more to go so ill update this again, prob more garbage and maybe another average bin

I don't understand what the Actual Goal is that you are trying to accomplish??? No benchmarks? Why is a single stick at 2200mhz feel good? Is not the performance horrible??? Cant you run 850mhz cl6 with triple channel even mixed matched sticks?? What is it that's missing??? Never screen shots?? No cpu-z validations? HAve not a goal intended for use??? Im so baffled at this thread..... Crossflash for more FSB? How will 600mhz+++ help single channel single stick?? Am I missing more questions?? I'm at a loss here......

One cpuz validation and that's all the worth. Needs substance. Benchmarks. PiMod 1m is quick easy and 1 core use only. Now, you have a unit of measurement. To compare your overclocks Against your own OC or others, like the bot. If you want brrr all core, try easy WPrime 32m. Quick to run and light on the thermals. Cinebench is far hotter to run. Then you have brrrr goals to obtain. AND make account at hwbot and benchmark for points. Cause it feels good. AND fun to do. AND submit cpuz brrrr validation for points yay!!!

I don't think I have mounting for the sockets, but you could figure that part out no problem.
