Need a little help from you GPU wizards. Cannot get this card over stock clocks no matter the program used. I can unlock the extended overclocking just fine, and it applies according to GPUz, but the card does not go over the stock clock also according to both AB and GPUz monitors and benchmark comparisons. I'm on XP and tried all drivers and AGP hotfix drivers. They make no difference. Card is Gigabyte model. www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/gigabyte-hd-4650-agp-1-gb.b2357

If I remember correctly I think it's driver version had the same problem with a 4670 AGP. Although looks like you've already been down those roads.
Was using Cat 12.3 XP driver on the 4670 AGP.

I've tried drivers from other subs I see already also. Either I'm missing something or this card is straight up locked like an OEM card. Checked bios also, not an OEM bios. It's the bios that belongs on this card. Another note, tried modding just the clocks in the bios. Flashed it. Resulted in a no boot state. Flashed it back to the stock bios. Card boots again but still will not exceed stock clocks.
EDIT- also, another note, tried this on W7 also. Same results, will not exceed stock clocks.

Might have to mod the card?? I found this video. Not sure if it'll be much help though.

Might have to mod the card?? I found this video. Not sure if it'll be much help though. Saw it already. That is Yurban. The mod he did was a volt mod. Thanks anyway Jon. When I ask for help here it's usually a last resort as all normal google options have been explored. That doesn't mean I don't appreciate the effort though.

Well the ExiledAirMan retired, or I'd tell ya to ask him.

Looked on my thumb drive this is what I found under ATI 4670 AGP, as stated the 12.3 worked but they are a AGP hot fix set.

That's a bummer, I know you were excited to get that one.

That's a bummer, I know you were excited to get that one. Vin How far back does the Catalyst drivers go? Will any 8.1 - 9.6 run that card Vin?

I have tried drivers from the original install disk that came with the card, to the 13.x Catalyst drivers. All same result. Has to be something up with the card. Shouldn't be having this much trouble. Can't go back after the seller because the card works perfectly at stock. I'll re-sell it and find another.

Went and looked at a 4670 AGP of mine, judging by the SS was using ATI Tray Tools. I always load CCC as well on ATI cards so have the Net Framework needed for CCC and kill CCC when fine tuning services in windows before a run.
Don't know if you load CCC or not.

CCC was loaded, but I never got the overclocking controls with it. Used ATI Tray Tools for the fine tuning, but the overclocking section was always locked to the stock clocks. Could never change them with that program. Only could change the clocks with AB when extended overclocking was enabled. AB would show applied overclock and GPUz would verify the clock was applied, but when I run a 3D bench the monitoring graphs in any program would only hit max stock clocks, not the overclock I had set. Benchmark scores verify that the card was not overclocked. I'm stumped.

Man that's so weird. So you have an OEM gigabyte card? Did Gigabyte even produce cards for OEM? (I think not?) Maybe a full OS install instead of stripped? (Not sure how you're configured...)

Weird to say the least. OS is retail XP SP3. Not even a stripped one. Been trying to rule everything out.

The only thing left I can think of is trying RivaTuner, But I'm sure you've been there already.
Stumped.

I have had this problem before mod the Bios with the clocks you desire keep pushing it up until it artifacts and crashes and back off a touch. Its a bit of buggerising around but it will get the clocks you want.

Yep you just mod the 3D clocks with RBE it doesnt take long to flash the bios on to try.

Scotty, try ATItool (not ATI tray tools) and AMD GPU clock tool. I've used the latter lately to overclock 4570 Mobility, which is same gen at least. There is a bug with most of 3xxx and 4xxx cards that limits the max core clock to IIRC 840MHz (PLL bug) but it's not your case.

Thanks Alex but already ahead of you. Tried both. Same issue. Locked at stock clocks of 600/400.

Maybe try and disable driver enforcement?

Thanks Alex but already ahead of you. Tried both. Same issue. Locked at stock clocks of 600/400. Interesting case. I'd save the BIOS file and try to update to another version. Time for firmware action. Since it's not a driver issue and all PLL tools show the same, looks like PLL control is disabled, probably due to firmware. And yes, I suggest not modding your vBIOS but flashing a new one. But anyway, save the old one.

Thanks. There is only 1 bios available for the Gigabyte card. I will have to try to flash a different brand.
