I´m thinking about dropping the whole idea of X299 and intel. Yeah the 18-core parts would do great for timespy-Ex and the likes but as you can see: 49 weeks estimated wait time for one. Nearly a year. I have now called 5 major retailers here in germany and tried to get a 9980xe or the new 10980xe. Everyone told me there are none and even if they get one, there are thousands of pre-orders in line before me who will get theirs first. So when I´m finally going to get one it will be likely the 4th or 5th shipment wave and not the next. So those 49 weeks are not very far off from the actual time I´d have to wait. I have placed orders with 2 different retailers who claimed to get some in a few weeks, but its been nearly 2 weeks since and I´m not very hopeful at this point. Which now leads me to consider AMD again. The 3950x is readily available everywhere, its half the price and can match or beat the 16-core intel parts like the 9960x in most benchmarks. Even in the 3D-mark ones, timespy e.g. the 3950x @4.6Ghz manages to compete with the 9960x @ 4.9Ghz while being 400€ cheaper. I´m now leaning towards AMD again.

I'm waiting. I wouldn't purchase anything until later this year.
Bench mark figures on Ryzen 4800U laptops shows some promise. Check out these benchmark figures
Time Spy Cpu Score
R7 4800H - 8350
R7 3700X - 10180 R7 2700X - 8600 R5 3600 - 7300 R5 3600 - 7150
i7-9700K - 8200
____
A laptop with 2700x power but cooler and more efficient. I think the desktop Ryzen 7 and 9 series chips are going to be monsters, Lots of threads and plenty of Epeen.

Thats an idea, maybe wait for Ryzen 4000 series. Intel wont come up with something competitive until late 2021 if at all.

4000 mobil cpus are based on zen2. (Actual 3000 desktop types) These chips are perfectly configurable with some power barriers. Showing insane low consumptions at a bit lower freq than 4 ghz. 3.2-3.6 all core. Not so hard to hold ubder 45w while performance is still crazy !

Now I was under the impression this was going to be Zen 2+ (plus), not just first gen Zen 2 (without the plus) or am I just misunderstanding this?
