What do you guys reckon, is an ASUS Strix R9 Fury a good buy at AUD$180 (USD$124) ?

Sounds Ok I have got one of those if you are lucky you can unlock it to FuryX. They are 3570 shaders FuryX is 4096 most will unlock to 38xx shaders at least, mine is unlocked to 4096.
Those shader amounts are approximates might not be exactly right but are close to what they are.

Well I got it. Here is the CU Info output: Adapters detected: 1 Card #1 PCI ID: 1002:7300 - 1043:049E DevID [7300] Rev [CB] (0), memory config: 0x00000000 (unused) Fiji-class chip with 16 compute units per Shader Engine SE1 hw/sw: 80010000 / 00000000 [x..............x] SE2 hw/sw: 00030000 / 00000000 [..............xx] SE3 hw/sw: 00030000 / 00000000 [..............xx] SE4 hw/sw: 00030000 / 00000000 [..............xx] 56 of 64 CUs are active. HW locks: 8 (R/W) / SW locks: 0 (R/W). 8 CU's are disabled by HW lock, override is possible at your own risk. So good news, might be able to get 4 more CUs unlocked hopefully all 8 but we'll see. One problem though, I can't find the Atomtool 1.1 which generates the unlocked roms to try. Have you still got a copy? Has anyone? as per this thread at OCN

couldn't get all CUs unlocked (well I could, but it was only good for one pass of Heaven Basic before it artefacted with horizontal flickering lines) so I had to settle for 4CUs unlocked. Just ran a quick test with the GPUz render test:

Actually I think it might have been ASUS' GPU Tweak II (v1.6.0.5) causing the screen corruption. ASUS GPU Tweak II has a bad habit of enabling itself to run at windows start up and because I had gone back to the stock BIOS at the end of yesterday I saw the same screen corruption on the stock BIOS and the only common factor was GPU Tweak II starting up with Windows so I re-enabled all compute units and ran through Heaven Basic again at stock clocks/powerlimit/volts and it ran perfectly - although the score is terrible given it was only running on Thuban at 4.2GHz. On the plus side it's the fastest (only, lol) Heaven Basic score run on AM3/AM3+ when compared to the results on hwbot. Not that I bothered to upload (or save) the score of course.

You can turn off it starting with windows in the settings you can also turn off the monitor screen. I cant remember if you get voltage settings in Afterburner with those I know the 7970 Matrix Platinum GPU tweak is the only on you can adjust voltages in.

Not sure with Afterburner but Trixx 6.6.0 gives up to +75mV.
