this board is driving me nuts. it works fine hardware wise but i've been trying to install windows on it for two days and just can't. XP sp3 gives me a bluescreen that it's not ACPI compliant, i red that i need to update to latest bios which i did. then i tried installing sp2, it works but hangs almost close to complete install. i'm installing off usb. i have disabled usb legacy mode in bios because without it doesn't want to install even. from what i red in various forums, this board has been making people lots of trouble when it comes to installing an OS on it. Has anyone had this board and if so, has a method for installing windows xp on it that does actually work? i feel like i'm going to lose my mind with it sooner or later lol

Mine does the same thing alot of the time. It's been so long since I've tried it I'd be afraid to make a suggestion ATM but you can try this anyway;
From what I can recall about it if you do an install using an IDE CD/DVD drive that helps if not solves it.

Good board. You shouldn't be having an issue installing XP.... that said, two things pop up in mind.
1.) bad image burn on the install disk. 2.) low v-core hang ups.
Try to bump Cpu voltage a little bit. I don't recall ever having an issue installing windows on the A8N32 deluxe... but that was a long time ago now.
Good board though. Should be able to swing 1.7 v-core from it no problem if you're going sub ambient sub zero temps.

Try a different CPU and different ram it might just be unstable.

The board should work fine with those sticks, never had an issue with mine running TCCD.

I have N-lited and SP1/2 only. Again, it was a long time ago. 10 years ago or something around that figure. Was running sub-zero temps for sure. Try hot swapping the OS drive from the DFI board to the Asus board and see if it posts up.

I don't recall SP3 versions causing issues but it's possible.
You can swap drives like Shrimpy said and see if it goes - In fact that's how I got around the issues whenever this one was acting up over an install - Worked everytime.

XPSP3 was wonky for me, getting updates separately worked for me better.

XPSP3 was wonky for me, getting updates separately worked for me better. I only ran SP3 when it was a daily operating system and got it through updates also. Since it's not needed for benchmarking, I don't ever think about running SP3. Wonder if Mistone got the system working.

If you're benching XP, you should be using SP3. It's faster.

Pete is correct. Home SP3 and pending the bench, I usually have only 12 +/- 1 services running.

Well I'll be a son of a gun! So why all the NLited XP stuff then? For Alpi. I always uses Tiny beast Xp. From s462 to 1150, for Amd and Intel. I like it. Has auto install, no need to push even a button and it's really super light. Tryed another version only for 3D benching on my 1151 platform where is a 64 bit version gives better efficiency.

This forum has tons of knowledge in it's collective team members, however lacks the tutorials to have newcomers bare witness to such great capacity.
