ok. i did installed xp on maximus viii hero using the link provided by mr.scott
but not before spending 3-4 hours.
1. easy2boot can install only xp sp3(with files available in the folder). i was trying to install xp sp2 32bit finally at the time of installation, getting an error like "installation cd is not accessible"
2. mostly tried on z170 oc formula and i thought this has something to do with the bios. i had 7.60 installed. flashed to L2.03 and no boot with i3 7350k. not compatible with kabylake. then changed the processor to i7 6700k but again getting the same error.
3. then for confirmation tried to install xp sp2 on maximus viii hero and again same error. had a 64bit xp sp3 but ahci driver is not available for installation in easy2boot dpms2 folder, so couldn't succeed with that.
4. finally downloaded a fresh iso of xp sp3 and tried. got a different error this time, OEM PREINSTALL ENABLED.(some dp.mgr error). then i remembered from oc guide that two things are mandatory for installation.
a. floppy support b. OEM PREINSTALL DISABLED
then extracted iso files using nlite, OEM PREINSTALL IS DISABLED and made a iso out of that and tried.
finally succeeded in installing xp on MAXIMUS VIII HERO.(ASMEDIA SATA CONTROLLER) will try to run the installtion on oc formula.(should run)
still need usb drivers. top two usb ports working with mouse, keyboard but not identifying usb drive.
hwbot link with usb drivers for usb 3.0/3.1 and usb.sys file is not working. still need these files. otherwise it's in a dual boot configuration with another xp ide installation. so boot from another system and copy files to and fro is very much possible and done.
