Haha, I was talking about the El camino yesterday and today with the kids. Like where to put it when I do the head gasket on the dodge. The garage has much crammage of junk and some keepable stuff.... lol. But yea can't fit 2 cars in ATM. Definitely have seen that video too. lol. I was just looking at drag races. Stumbled upon a fail comp. was gonna start a Hot rod fail video thread lol.

Oh my gosh, I've seen some terrible things happen at the track. Me too. I was one of them.

I will expound. For those who don't already know, I ran pro mod motorcycles for about 10 years. 2 nights a week at the local tracks and 3 or 4 national events a year usually out of state. My 1405 Kaw could go low 9's @ 155-160. Like these, but 80's vintage.
At Cicero Raceway Park near Syracuse NY, I had just come into the traps at the end of a run at roughly 156 when I blew a front tire. As soon as the rim touched the ground the bike pinwheeled end over end, tossing me out in front of it. Track photographer has pics of the bike probably 10 feet over my head and me sliding under it into the infield. Nothing left of the bike except the carbs and air shifter. I wound up with a really bad kidney bruise, and a little road rash on my shoulder. I was more pissed off that I ruined a thousand dollar set of leathers and a brand new 400 dollar Simpson helmet that I just had painted and only had on my head like 3 times.
BTW, the FBG bikes (Fast By Gast) in the vid are owned and sponsored by one of my friends, Paul Gast. He is located in Grand Island NY, about an hour from me. All of my stuff came out of his shop.

I am so very happy that you are here to tell the story. I never could do that. I used to ride motorcycles but I never really liked going that fast on them. Fastest I've ever gone was on a street bike(Honda Magna V65)was about 145MPH and I didn't like it. Totally different experience than in a car at the same speed. I had a few friends get into some serious trouble on the 1/4 mile and they ain't here to tell the story. Ugly things used to happen on those tracks.
Those bikes you used to ride were insanely fast.

Oh insanely fast drivers got skills. Many props Scotty. I don't think I could handle 160 on a bike. That's fast even in car, but at least the drag is a straight shot.
THem guys in that video turning Low 4s man. Crazy take off speed. Your guts are smashed into the back of the seat and your face skin peeled back like a cartoon lol.

The 4's were in the 1/8 mile. Bikes were geared differently for the 1/4. I ran both also. 1/8 times for me were low to mid 5's. My 60 foot times were less than a second. I was and still am an Adrenalin junkie. That was the only reason I did it. Cars weren't doing it for me anymore. As for the feeling of speed on a bike, it all feels the same once you're over 100. Jon, you're correct. The G's on launch were eyeball flattening. Definitely don't Armour All your seat.

My problem would have been leaving my entrails behind.
That was just wicked fast Scottie. I caught a fly in my mouth once at a 100MPH. It was like getting hit in the mouth with a marble. I'll stay in my car thank very much. Your balls are way bigger than mine. ROFLMAO

Oh I see. Ya 1/8 mile at 150mph is crazy take off speed, but it's constant to the finish line and let off the throttle from the looks of it. I like fast, so does my little one. Jordan enjoys the El Camino rides a lot. Has me race anything we park next to every where we go. Mini vans, SUVs, station wagons, jeeps oh he loves when I leave people standing at the line at the stop lights. Once I hit road speed limit (roughly) he sits up and turns around to see how far back they are... lol. He really thinks there's nothing that can beat us, but he doesn't understand our car is only geared well. It doesn't have enough gears in the trans for the rear end and generally speaking less horsepower than most of todays V6 engines hehe. Oh man good times, if I had the chance to get on one of them sleds Scotty, I'd be all about it

Super clean. Chevy red. it's a good looker.
But don't be fooled by the title and steering wheel. They stopped SS El Camino in 73.
