Finally got off my butt and went over to pick up memory to expand the system. Well, for a while this chip had a very strong showing. But today it finally showed its core weakness... Memory...
This unit is struggling hard running 4 sticks over 2. Try as I might there is no hope it seems yet to get all four slots up to 3200. Typing this as I stability test at 3000. Its been a battle of increasing timings and lowering speeds all afternoon after upgrading capacity. I am currently running the DOCP settings of 16/18/18/38/56@3000MHZ as it just will not give me room to breath on the timings, pure loss on the frequency. Though this is partly expected due to the stress on the components moving to 4 sticks, its still disappointing!
I put off memory clocking for far to long waiting for these additional sticks. Its time to pay the piper, though whats really funny is I almost feel dirty running the CPU at stock while I hammer out memory. I was getting used to those glorious speeds! Back to testing.

I'd have to think the newest chips could do it, I will be testing a few things once I get the rest of my Ryzen 2 setup and this would be one I'll try.

So the limit range with all four slots populated on this system is about 3100Mhz. It just will not stick at 3200. Timings are still at 16/18/18/38/56/1T. Now that this is kind of settled on, I will take the opposite approach and start trying for a timings clock over MHz if it will be friendly to me at all. Though these aren't terrible timings anyways. A big bummer to me as I know how much this new infinity fabric likes the memory speeds.
Though none of this may matter soon anyways. I keep giving side glances to those new 3000 series units out there... they are looking mighty tempting.
