Had good fun today using the Crosshair V Formula Z at first it was giving us a lot of trouble then we noticed that the inside memory module was iced up so we pulled it out. Blew moisture out of the slot and put grease in the slot and stuck it back in and it was then good. The R9-290 didnt like the cold at all it played up to no end so I didnt worry about the 3D benches I just stuck the HD7950 in. I just ended up doing SPI and Wprime but its put me in a good position in Div IV. Then I decided we would do a CPUz Validation. I saved one validation at 7755mhz then upped the voltage more and got it up to 7961 but it kept crashing. I didnt save any more Validations I was too busy trying to get the magic 8Ghz then all of a sudden it wouldnt boot anymore with the memory led lit another look at the memory module and was frozen white ah well that was the end for the day. We had it going for around 3 hours. I am getting the hang of Nitrogen now it can only get better, one thing about it, it might be expensive but its great to use. I will get Dewars filled again on Thursday and I am going to have a run with Skylake and the X5960 then in 2 weeks time I will fill them again and have another run with the FX8350 I will do better again next time Here is a pic after nearly 3 hours running the pot is full.

never mind pete it was a good day and fun, so close to the big 8 gig, youll get it next time, maybe a piece of that blue foam purpose cut to fit between the pot and the 1st ram stick will help stop it freezing up, it did it last time too but not like today lol, after all the go and stop then finally all go the bloody ram stick froze on us and stopped the result

Yep that can be a problem, I do exactly what you did with grease. I also close the opening on the first slot with eraser and cover the whole thing with towel and tape it as tight as I can to keep the air off the mems. Better luck next time. Like you I have been close but never managed to tip the scale over 8G

Yep the towel seems to work the best.
