My son (11yrs) started trying to play Doom in Rolblocks (i know i spelled it wrong) so with that I decided to get the game to work on Win10.
I found this app that will emulate dos and create a mini virtual machine.Really Simple. It was way easier than I though....
Install the latest, once installed. Launch it, I prefer the no Console version
I put my dos games in "C:\Dosprogs\"
There is a command to map the "C:" drive. I added it to the AutoExec section of the setting options
I also added "c:" to Open C Drive then "dir" to see whats there.
Then once Launched;
then old school commands...
- cd wolf3d - wolf3d
Then you can play
Here are the games i have working. I had to setup the audio just as in when we were in DOS land. When you first open the Dos Launcher, you'll see the SoundBlaster settings under the blue box.
- Doom (original) - SimCity 2000 - Quake - Wolfenstein 3D
to open the games in full screen, press Alt+Enter. but keep in mind, old games with 320x200 res will look like shit. I'm contemplating on installing an old GPU and a low res monitor to play this stuff.. I think it would be hella-fun
I'm looking for Doom95, it had resolution options. and any other cool games that were the ones to get back in the day.

turns out I have both Carmageddon 1 and 2...
transfering the install now for the first one. doubt 2 would work in Dos only.

Carmageddon 1 works just fine, Carmageddon 2 required DX, so need Windows...

Haha, this thread made me DL a Nintendo emulator and I played Zelda for a good hour or better. I forgot exactly how difficult that game really was/is!!! I used Nestopia for the emulator.

I have most emulators and games from everything before PS1. after that the games get big so it's more selective. PS3 emulation is too buggy and too limited so it's real games for that.

PS1! I used to rock Sim City 2000. I'd let the console run morning noon and night and stack up fat stacks of cash. Run some disasters and rebuild the entire city lol. Oh the good old days.

Wonder if you'd be able to get Stellar 7 working.... Problem is, if you're using anything faster than a 486 DX/33 it becomes an almost impossibly difficult game because the gameplay winds up being sped up exponentially... Had friends with a Pentium MMX 200 or so (can't remember exactly which one, might have been a slower one), and the game was almost impossible for them to play because of just how fast your reaction time had to be.

Glad to see it's playable, but wow.... They're a terrible shot, and don't grab the pickups!

Reviving this... I found a site that hands out abandonware
Some (very few) will show "unavailable" and some when you download you'll see "Demo" but 90% of what I looked for was the full version...
Enjoy
Vin
PS: Stellar isn't on this site...

I've downloaded some games, but I haven't had the opportunity to try them yet, so the sites I just posted are use at your own risk...
