Is there a trick to getting Windows 7 to install on the SIL3112 SATA/Raid controller on the Abit AN7? Booting from CD first I got the Windows setup error “Setup was unable to create a new system partition” and after some buggerising around it's gotten worse, now I just get Boot error immediately after the BIOS is done with Verifying DMI Pool Data.........
/TLDR I'm so far too lazy to plug in a floppy drive and dig the driver disk out of the box in order install XP/2003...

W7 you can have the driver on a USB Key. XP you will need the floppy.

Yeah, I've been feeding it the driver from a USB key and it finds the disk after loading it...

What then it wont install? I have never tried to setup W7 on 462 before I am at a loss. Also the only times I have ever used the sil controller I have set it up in Raid.

I've done it using a Promise controller, booted from a PATA CD with the drivers for the raid card on a thumb drive.

When You setup I believe you have to install a F7/F8 driver, I remember my Lanparty NF2 Ultra-B needing a SATA/RAID driver for it to be detected...
That might of been XP, or was it 7, been a Long Friggin Timm

Nothing a little WD40 can't fix. You gotta watch where you spray that stuff.
