Just picking up on guitar since I now have alot of time to kill and woudn't be bad to learn how.
In truth the one I have has been around for a very long time yet I haven't learned how to play it, never really messed with it - Either that or I just suck that bad at it (Put your money on the latter reason).
Anyway today I found a decent "Around the house" amp (Roland Cube X15) for what I've got and scored it kinda cheap too, maybe I'll finally find motivation to really see how terrible I am.
What I've got - Really dusty too.
And the amp I won today to go with it.
Need to get another strap for it and some new strings.
Won't be long before I start torturing the neighborhood with it and I don't mean with volume...... More like suckyness.

I used to play the Oboe if you go back far enough... ...Do turntables count? I used to mix. I say used to because man, I haven't sat down to do that for a looooong time. Well, stood up to do such, since my lil booth is kind of somewhat tall

Yeah Vin, it's got to be better than the one I currently have, just a basic 8W - No frills amp.
You still play?
I don't count mixing tables because it has to be something you do to make the music yourself, not by manipulating something that's already been made as in the music or recording.

Sadly I haven't played since I first moved out of Edmonton, but it's one of the first things I'll be picking up once we move into a house. Would have acquired one a decade ago, but living in an old apartment means no musical instruments if I want to keep the current roof over my head. And when I get said instrument again, I only hope the RSI in both of my wrists won't slow me down (otherwise I guess I'll have to pick up the instrument I had before that, the flute! )

Use to spend some time with it when I was working but the last 5 or 6 years just been in the closet. Wife got it for me for xmas a buch of years ago, what she could find that didn't have the upside down look when strung left handed.

When i started to date my now wife i took some guitar lessons, just to try to impress her. After ~6 months i stoped playing, sold my guitar to a friend couple years later in 2012. But i hope to find some free time in the future to play it again.

Best advice to you Hotrod, practice your scales. You only need to know four chords.

I played for a while. Really hard for me now. Hurts my hands too much. Sill have an Ibenez Jem and a Peavey back stage amp.
Consider taking a lesson or two, or find somebody thats a good player to give you some tips. It goes a long ways rather than teaching yourself bad habits.

Same reason I don't play drums anymore. It hurts. I can't believe I just said that. I'm an old bastard. Edit: You know, I tried to learn to play guitar but I just never really got it. The only song I ever learned to play thru was "Secret Agent Man". I was about ten years old. That was the extent of my guitar playing career.

That's better than I've ever done (So far). Bought a new strap, some picks and strings so I won't have to worry about it for awhile.
For now I'm just trying to get my fingers to work with the frets, that the biggest hurdle I face ATM.

My daughter Ella got a nice Mitchell guitar last year for xmas and has a weekly lesson since. She's come a long way and plays a few whole songs now. It takes a lot of practice.
I don't play much any more. Still have my cry baby and Line 6 pod.

Ooooh, Reloop. Always did sort of want some of their gear, but it wasn't easy to source in Canada, so I wound up going with Super OEM's/Hanpin based clones more formally known as the Stanton STR8-150's (first edition). They're quite fun, and best of all, grounding issues are easy to fix with these models because you can lift ground if need be. I kind of want a better mixer though, while I love the Native instruments Kontrol Z2, I always did want an Allen&Heath Xone:92, and now want the updated Xone:96... or the PLAYdifferently Model 1. Can't decide between the two, although the Xone:96 is a LOT cheaper. Same numbers more or less, but Xone:96 is CAD, while Model 1 is GBP.... Ouch. Xone:96 could also allow for quad turntables, if I ever did want to go absolutely nuts - four turntables at once always was an idea, but it requires a LOT of juggling to say the least.... Could have uses for live PA, but, again, hard to say.

A couple of neat vids on how you can get started cheap. I like the way he does his videos, just the good stuff you'd want to hear.

Recently found a killer deal and had to take advantage - So I did. It's a terrific sounding amp, plenty for what I'll ever be doing.
And now just waiting on this to arrive and it should sometime tomorrow.

Will take a pic of it in better light than what they did to really show it off later, probablty in daylight. The above pic does no justice for it

For my sanity I have started to play guitar again. a few weeks ago I picked up an Ibanez RG1070BPZ Charcoal Black Burst (got it used at a hell of a deal)
and this weekend I picked up a Fender Mustang LT25, this is a great little modeling amp... I can make any sound I want with it... she's a neat little unit and not at all expensive.
I have a few other older guitars and an old Crate amp. with with them I couldn't get the sound I wanted and also the better guitar I have is a flying-V and is harder to play on your lap (You need to straddle a leg to use it) and after an hour or so my upper back hurts... so I had to get a more playable guitar.
This Ibanez has this top and not two are the same, it holds it's tune and sounds great. I'm a happy camper... and yes, I'm way more broke having had bought this gear...

Yes, the amp you grabbed can make even a crappy one sound good and a good one sound great. The Bronco I have is similar in features, only real difference is mine is a 40W amp and it's a bass amp too. Can be used with my guitar as well no prob but I'm not ditching the little cube amp, although I can use the Bronco for it it's still a bass amp and it just doesn't give the same sounds for my HOB my cube does.
I'm gonna learn both and already figured out they are indeed very similar so shouldn't be a problem to do with time. My biggest hurdle is just getting my fingers to work, doing much better with the bass and once I can get that going, guitar proper should be a little easier.
As for better guitars - I not buying anything else, what I've got here is it.

The Roland Cubes were the first of the "Modeling" amps, and they did it very well. BlackStar came out with a line to compete. they are OK but I didn't like them. The Fender Mustang just came out. my model (LT25) was just released 3 months ago. I normally had an issue with being on the bleeding edge of tech. But for $203CAD for this unit, you can't go wrong....

This is what it looks like in better light. Had to go out and prop it up at the shack for the lighting but it worked out well.
The amp you got was a good deal, I believe the Brono 40 I got was too and even if it wasn't the best it's good enough since it was a literally brandnew one of the model with these no longer in production. I've seen nothing but good things about it and although it's not a tube type it's one of the amps folks are looking for.
Orange makes a really good amp but too pricey for my budget, esp when I want it to have some effects without having to spend even more just to have them -This stuff is expensive as is.
For me it was "Buy once, buy right".
Between what I wanted and got for the price paid I'm happy.
The HOB after I had it looked over and such was said to be good overall - Truss bar is "Wonky" as the guy described it but otherwise a solid guitar - That's what he said about it. Suggested I have it looked at again in a couple of years to see how the bar is doing, aside from that nothing to worry about.
