i bought a 2500K cpu cheap a few weeks ago, i had a tip junker ECS board i wanted to try and see if it works, it does, but has bugger all oc capability, i need a good board for it
whats the overall go to board for this please, i have no idea, i looked, but theres so many, a totally new platform for me to play with

2500K is a Socket 1155 chip, not a 1151 chip.
A P67, Z68 or Z77 board is good, one of mine happens to be a P67 MIVE (Maximus IV Extreme) but I believe there is a Maximus V Extreme version of it out there too - In fact the bot shows a Maximus IV Extreme-Z version of it being around.
The one I've ran frozen before is an ASRock Z77 OCF board, probrably one of if not the best boards you can get for it BUT they are hard to find and expensive too - Alot of demand for them out there for good reason.
Just make sure whatever you get is Socket 1155 based for that chip.

yep thx pete, ive bought a few cpus of this bloke, i saw his board there, the only asrock board ive ever had is the 970 pro 3 rev 2.0, was and still is a cracker board too, |

thx boys, trouble is to buy in us the postage is the killer ,will put another $60 AUD on top of the already US to AUD dollar jump, so ill try here first what the crafty chinese sellers are doing now is making an ebay account in america so they can charge the US dollar so they get the extra exchange rates

this is up for grabs in bot for sale section from ..........DrDominodog51 but im not too keen on MSI stuff, price is right tho Z77 MSI MPower - $75 $55 $40 i dont need fan headers to bench with it anyway or anything elses for that matter a molex connector will suffice there but i spose the question is does the damaged trace go to anywhere else , i dont know
This MPower has one damaged trace (see photo) and two dead fan headers according to the previous owner. Other than the two fan headers, it works perfectly fine and comes in the original box with all of the accessories pictured. This has not been tested for BCLK.

BCLK isn't a big thing with 1155, most boards stop around 107 or so making an unlocked chip needed to get big clocks from it.
If the price is right I'd say do it but like yourself I'm not big on MSI stuff - I'd keep an eye out for something a little better overall because once you get it, it's yours with all that comes with it, good and bad - You already know there's little bit of bad there as is.

i wasnt prepared to go the 4-500$ for the asus maximus extreme board, never had this platform b4 so its gunna be all new for me, i have a 2500K to go with it to try out so i bought this first

No. I don't do next gen. I have all of the original episodes including the pilot and the one un-released episode. Q and Borg episodes were the best next gen.  |
