dunno shady, didnt even know it was out but found this, looks like itll be a bit of a beast tho if everything is right lol, we get belted down here with pricings with the exchange rate, now this arsehole government has put the GST on the sales we buy off fleabay as well, 10% whether free postage or whatever onto the price, is that not a money grab or what, its worth billions so the seller is passing the cost onto the buyer, as its goods bought, same as in the super market when you buy stuff

Shane the tax is on Fleabay it was always on new things bought from computer outlets nothing has changed there and the Labor government has wanted to put the tax on Fleabey and other things for a long time. Too dear for me I might buy a second hand one in 12 months time. Gee Jas I wonder what the price will be for a Kingpin edition.

I couldn't find real performance info, but unless they perform at least 50% better than pascal i wouldn't mind to wait 1 year to prices drop. Never saw such high prices in nvidia launch...

When I checked yesterday, actual concrete performance numbers hadn't been released, and even HardOCP was speculating as to what nvidias's claims could actually mean. I'm curious about them as well, but the Asus Strix cards are almost $1,700 CAD, which makes it a lot harder to stomach since that's almost the price of a pair of cards in previous generations.... And I'll have to buy two as one would be for myself, and one for hubby.
Am I excited for the card? I'm cautiously optimistic, but yes. At its price point it had better absolutely blow away everything else by a wide margin, and just not be a 40-50% bump over the previous generation. If it's going to be that expensive (in cost and power consumption, the Ti is a 250W TDP card after all), I want at least 2x the frame rates over Pascal. Or alternatively, it has a 50% increase on the previous generation, but we're comparing 3x1920x1080 or 3440x1440 gaming this generation to 1080p from the previous (aka it's a 50% boost to performance when comparing such things, but it handles higher resolutions significantly better, as this comparison would also somewhat showcase much better 4k handling too)
I'm also rather curious as to how it will handle rendering, or if nvidia will try and gimp that in favour of trying to push quadros...

Yeah the KP ain't gonna be cheap at all cause from what I hear they may not come air cooled at all only options might be a Hybrid or Hydrocopper as for info on performance I don't have that info they are being super tight lipped about that but I might get sneek peek here soon befoe next months hard release on the 20th

17% performance increase over previous gen 1080 TI. 50%+ price increase due to no competition. People will still buy them. Not this people.

If it's really only 17% Ti to Ti that's rather.... Pathetic, especially for the massive increase in price, doubly so for Canadians and Australians.... Not that long ago the Ti's were under $1k CAD but were talking upwards of $1,700 CAD per card here

I got my Asus Strix 1080Ti last November for $999... price locally has been at $1499 since because of mining... $1700 for a %17 bump is horrid. I expected more with the hype that has been coming out over the last 2 days.
comparing the RTX2080 (Non-Ti) to the GTX1080Ti, it's a serious bump down in performance too... I had thought that the RTX2080 was going to be at par with the current 1080Ti... what a disappointment...

Same boat here too brother. I did the math a few years ago.. income tax / property Tax / sales tax / business tax... I pay 49% in tax before I have money to pay bills... that is awful and that hurts a ton...

Isn't CA health care included in that 49%? US we pay separately. See Scott's taxes? Additional 10-20% for health care out of pocket. Before I switched jobs with different health care I was nearing 60% and some change. Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois out of pocket for wife and kids was 297$ off my check WEEKLY. My take home at 26$ an hour was under 500$ a week. The company couldn't figure out why I left.....

Item (1) AU $89.55 Postage Free GST AU $8.96 Order total AU $98.51

RTX... the R doesn't stand for Ray tracing, it stands for RIP-OFF. nVidia has released even the Ti version which really says they're attempting to cash in on the last dies on the current node before they get onto 7nm. Otherwise they would have dribbled the higher end models over the next six months like they usually do. They are just taking the piss because they can alhough I'd rather the current situation with AMD ZEN in play than an alternate in which we'd still be digging in the dirt rather than climbing those ridges... Who knows with RTG first to 7nm perhaps miracles will happen and nVidia will have to pull its head in.

It is suppose to come out of our property tax/income tax. But the lines have been blurred years ago and it seems a lot of the funding for that is also in fuel tax and tax of tax of tax. Some use healthcare heavily and some (like myself) rarely ever use it. So in the grand scheme it balances out from what I've read.

Gotcha. Still too much government pounding peoples banks. But you guys/gals up in CA don't really have it much better or worse than the US thankfully from what I gather. Either way, a lot of us are in the same boat. Once upon a time in Illinois, legislators promised no tolls on the roads and it turned into the biggest scam in this state. They raise the tolls regularly and also put up more toll booths regularly while the state has a deficit so large they can't make a budget until months and months after it's needed. Once my kids are all grown and gone, My wife and I plan to travel our last years together perhaps to never settle down. But for right now, it's hardly possible to even take an inexpensive vacation. I get 2 weeks a year and I try to save it in case something happens that I NEED to take the time off work instead of actually enjoying the time off..... lol.

I save my vacation for that as well... on the books I get 3 weeks. I used 4 days last week for camping. 1st time in years that I've done that. my vacation days usually get used up by a day here and there for errands, family items, funerals. As for traveling in your later years, be careful with that. That was my parents plan. My Dad got hurt at 54 and now at 69 because of their bodies failing them they've never been able to do all the things they spoke of. Sad to watch.
They can't even sit in a car for more than 30-45min without being messed up for hours. So I can't just take a few weeks off and be their chauffeur. Hurts to watch.

Sorry to hear about your parents Vin. I'm sure because of the type of work I do and had done in the past, I'll be pretty sore. Heart problems are very likely, but that never stops us from having a dream brother.
My parents split years ago. My father has remarried and divorced a couple times since then. Now in his early 60's he's a lonely man. I do not plan to follow in those footsteps. I've been with my Wife longer than all 3 of his marriages combined.
My mother passed away about 9 years ago. The wake was on my Daughter's 4th birthday. What a shame. She never met my youngest son whom was born several years later.
Don't worry, I know what hurt is. All we can do is remember not to take things for granted.
