Hello,
I've recently got the opportunity to get this board. While it's taking its time, I went looking for RAMs. Board docs say it will take up to 2GB in 4x512MB sticks, but I found an Infineon 1GB PC133 ECC stick. I'd love to try, but I'm worried that if it doesn't work, I'll have to return the RAM sticks. Anyone could chime in please?

I own a VP6.
Can't answer your question though. Never tried a 1 gig stick.

I own a VP6. Can't answer your question though. Never tried a 1 gig stick. Yeah I tried to do some research on his motherboard it runs a via Apollo 133 chipset so as far as I can tell runs at most 512 megabyte modules I'm sure it's possible but not likely that a bios modification would allow it to see it but it may not run because there could be a chipset limitation. |

Beyond the fact that it is ECC do you think it might have been very specific memory that they tested such as how the first generation ryzen processors require Samsung B dies for Maximum performance? I'm thinking it would probably have to be dropped down to PC 100 or PC 66 with larger-capacity like that |

No idea in fact. You could check memory QVL for the board but I doubt the had such large stick back then to test. These are assumptions claimed by chipset vendor, not motherboard. Might take some efforts to make it working, might not work at all. For example, I couldn't make VC-SDRAM work on socket 7 despite chipset support.
