Take the name plates off the heatsinks, they block air and hold a ton of heat in. They're just on with two sided tape. The white ram slots are better than the blue slots. If I can think of anything else, I'll let you know.

The Asrock 970A Extreme 4 has the Core unlock fwature, it unlocked the Phenom 2 X2 555BE to B55/955 Spec.
My motherboard the Asus TUF Sabertooth 990FX R2.0 has core unlock but never Tested it.

Not all boards unlock the same. What unlocks on one board, may not on another.

My Sabertooth 2.0 doesn't have the feature to unlock hidden cores - I believe only the 1.0 version has that capability. You can enable or disable cores but not unlock hidden ones with the 2.0 version.
For reference the older Crosshair V has it, the newer Z version doesn't.

The Sabertooth 1.0 does have it, and it does work.
I'm pretty sure there was a bios for the 2.0 that had working unlocker.

The Sabertooth 1.0 does have it, and it does work. I'm pretty sure there was a bios for the 2.0 that had working unlocker. If so then it would have to be a really old one, perhaps the intial BIOS file.
This board doesn't have it as an option at all, I checked when I first got it to see. Enabling or disabling cores is there just nothing to unlock hidden cores.
Guess I'll grab a copy of the oldest BIOS files to see.
EDIT: Grabbed several older files including the initial release file.
Will try these later once I have it setup again.

Rev 2.0 owners manual shows advanced tab called cpu core activation. Which differs from rev 1.0 which is called cpu core on/off function also located in the advanced tab. However a little searching outside the manuals people say core unlock was removed in rev 2.0. However I do recall rev 2.0 unlocking processors and have yet to search if I had either revision of the board and if unlocked anything. Just havent got that far reaearching yet lol.
