Hello! I'm ground ( ground1556 on HWBot, Ground15 on Overclock.net). Bones asked me to check in here (after I mention having a short talk with Aleslammer at OCN) to maybe see about talking about my favourite platform - x58. I've started hunting highest BCLK for a couple months by now ( best out of 40-50 CPUs so far), and I think I'll eventually get there . So far only under ambient, but I think I'll eventually go cold and see if that makes another difference Little to say about me - I'm 22, living in Germany and currently studying Computer Science and overclocking for about a year by now. Regards

Welcome to Warp9 Ground. Nice to see another X58 guy in here. That's an impressive BLK, my best is nothing close to that. But I'm still proud of it.
What kind of Vcore and QPI Vcore did that take to get there?
Vin

Vin I've found scaling with voltage under ambient to be fairly minimal (at least for the BCLK - my E5649 didn't manage +1 MHz going from 1.35V to 1.5V QPI). I was running 1.5V Vcore for the 4.3GHz screen, but while binning I was running lowest multi with 1.4 VCore and 1.35V QPI. I'm not sure how much cold will help it - I hope to test that out later this year. Welcome to Warp9!! Havent gone cold yet? Oh you really should. Its just fun and addictive as overclocking itself. Thanks! Currently on a tight budget (there is a reason I've been binning E5606s instead of more expensive chips... the 34 I have cost me a total of 29€) gday ground welcome mate, enjoy Hi, and welcome to warp-9. Hey nice to see you here! Thanks to all of you!

Yup. Tight budget here too. But there are ways to achieve nice cold temps for very little moneys.
I have a water loop set up on a faucet. Run the water to the drain. No radiators, no fans needed. water into the block and back out. It's not frozen, but naturally chilled. The temp always remains constant for the most part.
Need pointers or tips to get better temps, just ask. These guys here have ideas for their ideas.

I have less money than a bag of rocks Vin Budget works to a point I've got some rocks but I can send you dump trucks of sand It's like a desert out here I think shipping would be a bit too expensive... lol, budget is what I'm all about. My waterloop consists out of a 15€ ebay CPU block, a 560mm rad I picked up on ebay for 36€ and a 3000L/h fountain pump I picked up for 20€. I might have to go for ice water and a giant reservoir to take a couple more golds back for my E5640 and E5649, especially now that I have decent RAM...

I would had done this at my last house, but where I live now, water is actually more expensive than Hydro. I shit you not... Freezing plastic water bottles as we speak... Vin
