So being short on cash, I dusted off my old Gigabyte X58A-UD5. went back and looked at my emails from the RMA, one says to be repaired, another says it's fine. Once I got it back I never even looked at it. I put it on a shelf and left it as the email I got was "there is nothing wrong with this board, returned". I sent it in because I was having SSD issues (not seeing any disks) and also the odd blue screen pointing to a RAM issue. So I figure if it works then I'll sell it with my i7-920 cpu (NO Ram or HS). I still need to figure out a price... I did notice discoloration in the socket that I don't remember. looking at it with a jewelers loop, there looks like a dark staining on the pins there. They aren't bent. I'm a able to run Passmark I did have initial issues on startup with RAM errors but loosening up the clamp on the HS fixed that. So I want to run a flurry of testing apps to make sure the board is fine to be sold. I'm not willing to knowingly sell someone a problem. hence why it's lived on my shelf since 2012. but now it's worth investigating. So I was thinking PassMark Burn-in testing Aida? Prime95 blended testing? can anyone provide insight? Vin

Started running this software yesterday. running the OCCT testing. with just a memory OC (going from 1066Mhz to 1866Mhz) I couldn't get the PC to run for more than a few minutes. all I did was set the timings, DRAM voltage and then the memory multi and I'd get an 0x124 BSOD.
I recall that one was for QPI Vcore too low. I bumped the QPI volts from 1.2 to 1.26 and the same, then went to 1.28.. same... brought it back down to 1.24 then bumped CPU Vcore to 1.25, then 1.3, then 1.35.. same on all accounts..
FSB was still 133Mhz, I never touched that.
So, CMOS reset. only loaded "Optimized Defaults" from the bios and the app started and ran fine. I left it checked it before bed and it was still running. CPU temps never passed 55 degrees that I saw. I left it over night and I'll see if she survived the night and day.
if it did, it'll be near 22-24 hours I left it running. might be good to go, I'll add the blemish photo of the pins, and note an issue with memory OC'ing but runs fine at stock... Add a screenie of OCCT.
That being said, what's this worth? I see this board (in god knows the condition) for $200+ on ebay and the 920 is a crap shute of a price between $25-$100...
I'm thinking if this is all functioning that maybe $100 is worth it? I see this board on ebay for $75-100 as being sold for parts...
I'll have to look for the Intel Stock 1366 cooler and I'll re-test OCCT with that on, then the buyer just needs RAM.
looking for honest thoughts.

Hard to say Vin. Supply and demand. I think you could get 100 bucks for it.

F'it.. selling this board has been a pain in my butt.. (Can you verify OC's, Can you do this, Can you do that...)
I'm going to keep it. Popped in my i7-980x, 24GB of DDR3 and my GTX580. Stress testing it with OCCT right now. by 5pm today will be 24hrs. If that survives then I'll run a flurry of HDD/SSD testing, then memory, and then video.
If all that goes really well then I'm upgrading my HTPC and that'll free up an AMD 790FX board and 1090T CPU...

You can bench your brains out for dirt cheap on that 790FX board.

Been running OCCT:Linpack. 23GB of RAM and 100% CPU for 2 hours. With a Cooler Master 212 Evo Temps never pass 60 degrees.
Had no issues with the OCCT test.. that went 23.25 hours. no issues.. temps peaked at 50 degrees...
I'll leave the Linpack going for tonight. After tomorrow, I'll install 6x120GB SSD's in a raid and bench the shit out of that and see if the controller holds up.
I ran 3DM11 and got average scores with no OC (which I don't intend too on this setup). GPU is fine...

Is it a chirp chirp chirp or a continual whine? A piece of hose in your ear and up close to them.

there's no buzzer on this board. sounds like a cap when you're pushing a board hard with high volts... you almost hear the mhz squeal
