I get a news letter from EVGA, and this was the banner to click on;
Granted I don't own an SR-2 (almost did.. good story, see at the bottom) anyway... here is the banner...
What caught me was "Win a chance to exchange your EVGA Classified SR-2 with a new EVGA x299 Dark"
I get excited to think maybe they've come up with a new Gen Dual CPU socketed board, cause what else would you exchange/replace an SR-2 with ?
Then the Disappointment... WTF is this...
I really mean this... who in their right mind would exchange an SR-2 board for this? Here is CAN, the X299 is going on Newegg for $600 CAD... an SR-2 on Ebay still goes for $800 USD on a bad day... but price and costing aside... anyone with a functional SR-2 would hold it dear to them (if they don't, well.. sorry for you)
What could be going through anyone head from EVGA's... how... it's like trading in a classic car for its newly shitty branded counter part... (The Dodge Dart comes to mind, the guy who thought of that should had been fired!!!)
Am I alone in thinking this?

A few people from the EVGA's site feel the same.. last 2 posts... seems it wasn't worth starting it's own promo thread.. lol ; forums.evga.com/EVGA-Rewind-Reward-Promo-Check-it-out-m2806967.aspx#2806967

PS: The Story.
When my Gigabyte X58A-UD5 ate the bucket and Gigabyte failed on their Warranty.. I ended shopping for a board. I found an Amazon returns seller (this guy would bid on skids of returns from Amazon and sell the items individually), well this is where I found my EVGA Classified 3 (e770), I paid $65 for it + tax... I was literally counting pennies to pay for it. but with that board, was an SR-2. looked new in the box and the Static bag was still taped shut...
they wanted $75 for it... Yep.. that's right... $75... I could had used my CC to pay for it... but then remembered it only worked with 2 CPU's and those were hellish expensive at that time (cheapest CPU was $900) and then thought of all the RAM and that cost... I figured to outfit the board I'd need $2500... which, I was literally counting pennies to pay for the Classified board...
So I passed... left it behind... and I've never forgiven myself for it...
so that's the story... yep, I'm an idiot... feel free to echo it within these walls as I still deserve it....
