As some of you know, my PS3 gave me the flashing red light issue. I've tried to get it re-balled but can't find anyone locally to do it. I've done a re-flow and it has come back. Wanting to try "fix" this and having a spare Corsair H70 and H100i, I've decided to water cool my PS3. As it sits right now, I'm well on my way. Here is the cutting; Open up the case on both sides... open up the MB frame for the new coolers... Vin

Here the Rads are mounted; the next challenge is adapting the mounts from the H100i and H70 to something I can use on the PS3. I've tried to just push down on top of the H70 and that causes the top to bow and then the pump will start rubbing. Then H100i, it's top is floating and the side bracket is what's holding it together, it also has a button on the top.. so I just can't push down on that top either... so I'll have to figure out a way to recycle the existing brackets, I'm open to suggestions on this one. But the space is tight... this will be interesting. also, I'll be cutting out the 3/4" base board the exact size I need, then plan on painting it black to match the PS3. Once done I plan on cutting out sheet metal to fill the back and top. Vin

Also a question of Airflow... Initially I was thinking what is in yellow, to help I was going to add a 120mm fan on the top to blow up and hope that was enough of a vacuum to not cause a dead-head between the two fans. But since I've gotten to this part, I'm thinking of what I have in green instead... what do you guys think? Vin

the Result the Fan on the bottom of the CM heatsink is wired to the PS3's fan header. I made an adapter cable for it. the orange is blowing in and it tied to 12V and the can on the H70 is blowing out and it also tied to 12V

Last pic Once I take time to add shrouding and paint it glossy black, it'll almost look like it belongs that way. I played Grid 2 for about 45min, and while playing I noticed the main fan speed decrease as I played, system got quieter which made me feel accomplished. But a huge thing I noticed is the aluminum casing that surrounds the motherboard gets really hot. the chokes make contact with it through a thermal pad (I replaced all of them with new ones) and that's when I added the orange fan to blow on the MB. not sure what I'll do about temp monitoring yet. I'm working 10-12hr days for the next 10 days. So she might sit like this for a bit. Vin

IT'S ALIVE !!!!!
she's working. I really wish I wouldn't have to jailbreak this thing to see actual temps of the CELL/RSX. I might do it to see temps and then restore it back... not sure yet.
once I make a shroud, it won't look half bad.
I'll post pics tonight.

Looks good Vin, I don't forsee any problems with it and should be happy with the setup. I haven't fooled with mine as of late, been doing too many other things and need to get those out of the way first. ATM refetting the MSI board is the big project I have going on and I'm hoping the board will be OK after it's done, it was a FSB screamer compared to my other AM3 capable boards and that's why I'm working on it instead of just tossing it. Perfect for cranking on Sempy's and X2's.

DOH!!!.... Saga Continues...
The PSU died... I'd had read that the PSU was oversized.. but I guess I added too much.
can't touch the PSU, she's way too hot. I'll let it cool down and see if I can fix her up. I was hoping to not have to add a second PSU to this setup. but I'll just have too.
