Tried to get a Gigabyte GA-G31M-S2L Rev:1.0 MB running yesterday morning, three CPUs (one known) and two known kits of RAM, can't find a full manual for the Rev. 1.0 just the quick install finally check the Rev. 1.1 and find that manual shows the same layout so I can check jumpers. Board will not spin up any of the fans nor show lights on the PS2 keyboard. After about three hours I gave up and tried my luck with a P5QC which was working when stored according the original owner (friend), installed known parts flip the switch on the PS, no green LED, no key board lights, went outside to have a smoke in frustration. As I'm watching the fog lift a thought comes to me and when I get back inside I check the power cord connection at the PS, needless to say things are working now.
P5QC probably about the worst P45 board I've used.

Would that would be one of those universal ram boards with both DDR2 / 3 You would think the internal timings wouldnt be great with one of those type of boards.

That's what it is, Gigabyte's version not a bad board. Couldn't get a 500 FSB boot or software.
P5QC missing a pin in the PATA port which was a reason for setting it up, have an old drive that I needed to get some files from, GA-G31M-S2L working though.
