I went with ASRock cause I have had so much good luck with the MOCF plus it was one of the only mobos that was all black with not an overpowering amount of RGB plus this one doesnt have VRM issues like some of the other mobos like the gigabyte mobo I almost bought VRMs would hit 100c this mobo has 12 phases instead of 8 like some the other boards the Asus mobos the LLC wasnt working properly on some of their boards so the only choice of mobo was the one with no issues LOL

all vrms are good for 100c from what ive read and know, sure you can get a weak one but overall, theyll cop the 100c

so? means nothing, i would say most vrms would run between the 75 - 85 mark normally , its how they can handle the overclock voltages is the key, as i said b4 shades. pete knows way more than me about them , hes the one to ask because theres 1 thing i do know, coz its happened to me now id say a dozen time with different mobos, the vrm will give out first if it cant handle voltage, it only has to be 1 thats a bit shaky, itll blow first, then he board is useless unless replaced, same as a chain with the weakest link, that will break first then the chain is useless again until fixed, you can have a 4.6 8 12 16 power board, all are only as good as the vrms, doesnt matter. the hard ware lottery mate of what quality of hardware you get with the board you buy, like my gig fx 990 ud3, a pretty basic board , it smashed the crosshair v-z i had and cost me $40, seems i got a good one with all the hardware that just works right, and ill back it against any crosshaitv-z on what ever cooling, its the luck of the draw mate, pete know the vrm situation, what and how they work, what kills em, and how, i dont other than i know voltage does

so whats the difference ? not much, if it were me id be stickin to the z170 ,theres stuff just not needed, unless you game hard i spose, suppliers will always bang things up and the next to be better from the last, theres not a whole lot of difference is there other than peripherial bullshit, all a sales plug ,i reckon... the first chipsets are usually the best no matter what platform from what i know, theres more experienced on here than me to tell so, the othesr are just a so so upgrade, the 1st has to be tried and tested, the 2nd , 3rd, are just follow ons with "hope" for it from what what i can see www.pugetsystems.com/labs/articles/Z270-vs-Z170-What-is-the-Difference-877/www.pugetsystems.com/labs/articles/Z370-vs-Z270-What-is-the-Difference-1009/
