I'm eyeballing a 3D printer, mainly for fun but for certain other things around the house
Anet A8 any input?.
been doing some windows shopping. cause my mother asked me what i want for X-mas and as i already ordered my next gaming rig (8700K, ASUS ROG Strix Z370-H Gaming, 32gb ddr 4000) id figure i would get something fun!
chose the board because (and here is my rant) i have had the boards with all the bells and whistles rampage extreme, II, III. yadda yadda yadda what it came down to in the end is all the pretty stuff i didnt give two hoots about. all that mattered was function and this board has it all but the lighting so happy me.

Not sure about 3D printing or that particular machine, but looks like it could be fun.
That new rig is going to be smoking fast! You're right about some of the bigger most bestest boards. Expensive and more features than most people use. Can't wait to see your numbers in benchmarks. Was thinking income tax time, I may look into Intel 8 series i5 while I really enjoyed the 4690K. It was plenty fast!

Any how started looking at 3D printers and found a comparison between the top 5 for 2017. Thought this may be of interest for you. The better ones I saw where 500 bucks and more, but then again they are bigger than what you are looking at now so could produce larger things. bestreviews.com/best-3d-printersSome of these printers are not self leveling which is important from what I had read. I suggest you research heavily before making a final purchase. Looks like there's a lot of things that make a good 3D printer and may want to look for quality and spend the extra for that so final products have fewer flaws. I'm glad you ask about 3D printing. I spent a couple hours reading about it. You could make some moneys with original designs!

yeah two trains of thought, pre assembled ones tend to cost more, but seem to be on the bigger side. the diy ones are cheaper but smaller. i think i would use it mainly for fun, maybe a few things here and there on maybe the car or around the house but nothing crazy. still havent decided
