Do Windows 8 drivers work in 10, I can not get SLI/CF to work in W7 & X299 seems fine in 10, question is more AMD based HD 3/4xxx drivers stop support at W8.
All no goes W7, all cards known to work HD 4770 GTS 8800 GTS 640 9800 X2 (Single Card, black screen windows) GTX 285 GTX 295 (Single Card, hung in BIOS) GTX 580
Work in 10 GTX 580, only cards tested, had to hand out candy

I don't think so, I've tried using Win8/8.1 drivers on Win10 and was greeted with an unsupported OS error. But I didn't try with GPU drivers though, this was with RAID and other system drivers.

GTX 580s work in W10 64 with latest driver haven't tried other drivers. GTX 285s don't using 342.01 (Are W7/W8 drivers) are last drivers for 200 series cards per Nvidia site for W10.
Odd thing with the 580s, using a DVI to HDMI adapter and had sound in W10, didn't know DVI did sound.

I think the cable has to be a DVI-D cable to have sound. You should have sound with a DVI->HDMI cable. I don't know when that was introduced. But I do remember getting sound on my monitor with my GTX580, but never gave it much thought. here is a Win10 / nVidia supported GPU list. Though I don't know how to read it... Green Supported/White Not Supported? nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/3710/~/nvidia-gpus-supported-under-windows-10 Vin Edit; yep, green is supported, white is not supported... That means that my 8800GTS 640MB must had been using a generic Windows 10 driver. I did find it odd that I was able to run a 1440p resolution though. Made me think that it was using a proper driver. Guess it wasn't.

Have no problem with single card with anything tried so far, just SLI/CF. Just updated BIOS as a maybe no help. Tried a GTX 590 single card hard locked BIOS same as the GTX 295, code 62 showing with both (instillation of the PCH Runtime Services). Did a quick search some saying it's related to inserted USB devices, using PS2 mouse & keyboard removed the thumb I connected and the W10 drive did nothing that helped. Did see a statement that it affects Asus boards more than others.
Nvidia list drivers for 10 to the 8xxx series didn't look for any older cards.
I always thought HDMI was the first sound through the VGAs. Cable is HDMI with the adapter at the card.

Interesting thread there is a change in the Nvidea drivers around 368 some of the older cards dont like the latest drivers think it has something to do with the Vulcan runtime even though I dont install it but the later drivers have it. I dont really have any experience with Win 10 and SLI to say a lot. One thing of note though with late AMD cards like R9-290 which supports DX12 there is a 25 to 30% increase in performance in Firestrike under Win 10 even though its a DX11 bench but not in older cards like HD7000 series it seems to be something about the DX12 support. I havent found the same with Nvidea cards though.
Interesting about the sound and DVI didnt know that.

Getting a 200 mark +/- increase in Heaven X in W10 over 7 at the same settings with a HD 7970, (not doing much with it voltage locked).

HD 4xxx cards no go in W10, W8 is it, 10 acts like it's working with a W8 driver but the VGA driver doesn't load.

Checked driver support for last OS supported by using the driver download pages at Nvidia & AMD.
AMD
HD 5xxx series W10
HD 4xxx series W8
HD 3xxx series W8
HD 2xxx series W8
Nvidia
8xxx series W10
7xxx series W8.1
6xxx series W8
FX 5xxx series W8
Gave my copy of W8.1 to my neighbor have to borrow it and see if I can get it to CF/SLI as W7 and X299 are not happy.
Tried a HD 4870 X2 in the board, hard lock BIOS, code AA (system has transitioned into ACPI mode. Interrupt controller is in APIC mode.). Never had a problem with the dual single slot cards before.
Board is a Asus Rampage VI Apex would like to know if the board is bad or Asus is not supplying support or I'm just dumb ass missing something in BIOS.
Playing with the RX 580, Trixx and AB work for fan, core and memory only, even though Trixx has a voltage slider that works kinda. Switched to Wattman not a very intuitive piece of software. Did notice one thing I thought was interesting, raised voltage on the last three settings for core and forgot to change the fan profile card didn't turn the fans on till the last test in 3DM05. Stuck at 2250 on RAM max in Wattman using one of the other programs creates instability even though WM settings don't change.

Trixx seemed o work Ok on my RX480 the card is very sensitive to voltage changes though need to have it just right to stop throttling.

Trixx worked ok on the 580 I had also.

My question if it's not getting hot why is it throttling, had the same problem with Wattman add a little voltage scores were a third/half what I had before but the fans wouldn't spin up to compensate if it was heat?

I had that sort of thing too I think it has to do with the current draw as much as temp. Try playing with the voltage by small amounts from memory .122 over wouldnt make it through the bench at a certain clock .127 was good but .130 would throttle and reduce the score. It had to be pretty well spot on to get the best. I hate the wattman bullshit I would like to be able to disable it completely its a wonder someone hasnt come up with a way. Nvidea is the same sort of thing too my 1080Ti is also very sensitive to voltage adjustments

.125 was my 580's sweet spot. Fans came on late for me too. Being it was just benching, I just set them to full on all the time.

Don't remember the exact voltage offset but in the same range mentioned. Generally turn my VGA fan to max first thing once in OS then do all the in OS adjustments then back to VGA to see if it's flat lined temp wise before doing the settings and hitting the go button on the bench.
Wattman is odd had to bring up GPUz to see what I was setting Hz wise, if it's based on current draw not saying much for the power circuits or hardware crippling to cut down on voltage caused RMAs.

When you guys install the driver, do you right click the exe and trouble shoot compatibility and install for previous version of windows?
I don't mean after its installed, before.
