I'm starting to get the latest drivers for my Gigabyte X58A-UD3R v2.0, I've grabbed them all from Gigabytes site. but was wondering about chipset drivers.
Should I hunt on Intels site for their latest releases or do you think the Win7/WinXP/2010 gigabyte release drivers will do?
I never rely on the default Win install drivers, I've usually always updated them. But to what extent?

The Gig site drivers are fine. It usually makes not much difference most of the time.

I usually use the manufacturers drivers as they are the ones that configure the board.

Yes, indeed this is the best solution ( usually ).
Now comes the surprise.
If any of you have made ( like me ) the tragic mistake to upgrade ( or do a fresh installation ) of Win10 ( 32 or 64 irrelevant ), whatever chipset driver you install
you get the message "motherboard not recognized ".
Tested on :
X99 - Asus rampage V extreme
Z170 - AsRock OC Formula
Z170 - Gigabyte Z170X gaming 7
Z170 - MSI Z170A Gaming 7
Z170 - Gigabyte SOC-Force.
Everything works fine but still Windows report "unknown motherboard"
Go figure.

Nope.
Gigabyte SOC-Force is sold. It was a prize won from the march Ambient competition of Gigabyte. 450 Euros board. CRAP for overclockers, magnificent for 24/7. Put some $$$ aside for 6950X ( 1500 USD ) cpu. OUCH !!!
Gigabyte Z170X Gaming 7. Sold. Gift from local distributor. Some more $$$ aside.
MSI Z170A gaming 7. Daily rig. Bought cheap from the MaddutchDude ( Brendan ) for 130 Euros. Average to poor even for 24/7.
AsRock. YES SIR. My rock and roll star. Prepped for Dice. Waiting its boss ( me ) to screw its eyes out. After my surgery...
