I'm thinking about trying out the s370 platform for a while. There is pretty hard to find decent informations about them. Maybe I can buy an Abit ST6-R board. Is it a good board ? What are the pros / cons ? If not, what board should I looking for ? What cpus can be good for a beginner overclocker ? Can You help me to get some useable starting kit ? Thanks in advance !

Asus CUSL2 Good SDR Pick a processor. The PIII's are just like doing socket A without the multiplier adjustment.
It's more about finding exceptional hardware than anything else.

Yeah, CUSL2/-C & TUSL2/-C are the boards to look out for. Though keep in mind you need mods to run Tualatin's in the CUSL2/-C.
I've found Infineon 128/256MB 133MHz CL3 modules with part numbers ending in 7 - C2 or 7.5 - C2 work very well. My one stick does 155MHz 2-2-2-7-9 on my CUSL2 and probably go even higher if I had a gpu that could take very high agp freq.
As for cpu's, any will do really. Though 100MHz FSB chips are easier to OC than the 133MHz ones but they will not be as fast due to the lower FSB.

You can run everything through the Lin Lin. Mine is pretty much a fixture in the CUSL2-C. It's been years since I removed it.

Finally I've found a local seller with a Tusl2. I've started a discussion about it. He have also a P3 1.4 Ghz Tua for sale. Cpu is not so cheap at first sight but it's not so common as I know. We will se if we can make a deal ! I bought some stuff a week earlier. Maybe You going to hate me for that but I have to show You ! ;P They come from a Dfi collector ! All of them are a full set ! With box and all acc.-s. Nf-2 had even the Lanparty backpack !! I feel like a small kid at Christmas ! Soon I'm going to pick them up and bring them to my place ! Can't stand waiting ! 3 Lanparty's from the age when they (even Amd, even Dfi ) ruled the world ! They weren't so cheap but if we see how rare are they, not to mention that they are full boxes it was no money for them !

Back to s370, I have a question ! Why are submissions with Tusl2 are so rear at Hwbot ? There are so many subs with Tusl2-c, Cusl2, Cusl2-c but nearly can't find any decent sub with Tusl2 ? Is therer any problem with that board or just it wasn't so popular ? :S I became a bit concerned about this now ! :S Sorry for asking so much but I don't know any place where I can interested in this point of view. I mean how good the different tpyes of boards for overclocking. There are some ppl who knows pretty well oldschool stuffs but usually not for pure overclocking but everydays use. Thanks in advance for helping me, this is really a white spot for me ! :S

Other than a harder board to find in good shape, there is no difference in any of those Asus boards. They are all fine. Be sure to use the x86 Secret bios.

Great find on the DFI's Alpi!
I too have a Ultra B with the backpack and all else like you do - It's all there, in the box complete. It's been stashed away for obvious reason and I do have other boards I can run so there's no need to worry about it here. I do hope you get the board you're trying to make a deal on and maybe get a decent buy out of the deal when it's done.
Good luck man!
