thought id start a thread on known soldered intel chips, with pics of the die and resistors layout to watch out for when cutting the seal, as you can see in the pic the resistors are very close to 1 edge and the blade has already knicked the top off some, if you have any to add with / without pics put em in, may just save someone grief when delidding a chip, i didnt think this would be soldered, its dead anyway, i want to use it as a template to protect the socket pins in the p35t-dq6 to cut the lugs off for 771 cpus, knowin me id slip or somethin and stuff the pins for sure with my luck with stuff lately if i dont CORE2 QUAD Q6600__________Soldered and a twin die chip

That isnt the chip we were playing with the other day that was doing 4.2 on water?

478 pre prescott not soldered
478 prescott all the way to pretty much 2600K are all soldered (478,775,1366,1155) with the possible exception of a few dunno 100% though might try as i have multiples of some of these (later down the road)
supposedly not solderd -Celeron Dual Core E1200 -Celeron Dual Core E1400 -Pentium Dual Core E2140 -Pentium Dual Core E2160 -Pentium Dual Core E2180 -Pentium Dual Core E2200 -Pentium Dual Core E2210 -Pentium Dual Core E2220 -Pentium Dual Core E6300 -Core 2 Duo E4300 -Core 2 Duo E4400 -Core 2 Duo E4500 -Core 2 Duo E4600 -Core 2 Duo E7200 -Core 2 Duo E7300 -Core 2 Duo E7400 -Core 2 Duo E7500 -Core 2 Duo E7600 and some ultra low end 4 series cellys 420,430,440 not 100% sure how ever
ivy and up are not soldered
i think all variations of socket 2011 might be soldered
have no idea about up coming socket 2066 (X299 chipset sky and kaby lake X) and Z370 (cannon lake possible on 1151)

3.4 Prescott...soldered, its dead now, you can see the cracks in the chip, i didnt like this chip from day 1 when i got it a few days ago, i didnt mean to kill it but it did when i delidded it, i decided to delid it coz its temps were up around the 40c mark all the time, the top popped of beautifully with hardly any pressure at all. just razors either side and a weight on the razors and it went pop, then i saw the cracks in the chip itself, oh well , on to the next one

If that was soldered, the lid should have never came off with just blades. I think that chip was already damaged. That's why you had such high temps to begin with.

That's why you had such high temps to begin with. i think your right scotty, temps were very high, and it seemed quite unstable when clocked up, i had the blades on either side and they cut the silicon very easily with not much effort at all, then used the heat gun and it went pop and didnt take much heat to do it in about 5 secs and was left with a cracked chip in 2 places

There was nothing wrong with it, it would do around 4.2-4.3 I didnt expect anymore when I was there playing with it. It was an average Prescott 3.4 EO chip. 478 Prescott were plain hot runners fullstop. Stories like this were common place in the day this was the first I found with a quick search. www.theinquirer.net/inquirer/news/1036882/is-intel-prescott-p4-hot-handle

My mistake. I didn't think you heated it up. all good mate, i had a look up first in that intel list i came across in this thread, some are soldered , some arent, when the razor went in on all sides easily and the lid didnt come loose i knew it was a soldered one, didnt want to pull the guts outta the chip like the last 6000+ windsor i did , the prescott HT and the northwood HT C core are soldered , the A and B cores in northwood arent soldered, didnt matter anyway, the chip was still cracked

E1000-2000-3000-4000-5000-pentium 6000-7000 series are not soldered, tested proven in all cases. that is cool I will have to remember that I got a couple C2D and Pentiums that run a little warmer then others I will take them apart and repaste them

PII Deschutes 333MHz, Die has paste/epoxy? but the IHS is soldered on to the pcb. It was already dead btw.

Further confirming E7300 and E7500s are NOT soldered: I think I could start a fortune-telling business for delidded chips. Look at those patterns, I got a bird, a burning demonic '5' and the blob. And on the sides of the die there is always a different pattern of paste left around it.
